Such a truly wonderful place. The staff is very friendly. I had a wonderful conversation with someone when I was inside of SP 1673 and talked about Union Pacifics Big Boy trip out here last year, and some other things as well.

We stopped by the Southern Arizona Train Museum on a Sunday afternoon. Located in downtown Tucson we found it easy to park right out front. This gift shop is worth the visit were you can buy Railroad pins and patches. We were able to step out of the museum and walk about 50 feet to the locamotive on site. You can go up the stairs and see first hand how the steam engineer worked the coal and controls. It was a great experience and I will be taking my dad to see. Enjoy!

We traveled 36 minutes from our time share to see this cool historic attraction because website said open. We get here and as you can see in pic it is closed due to Covid-19. We were bummed other attractions websites were updated due to Covid temporarily closed. This website wasnt. So we took pics as best we could since made this trip. Want to come again when open. Whoever is in charge of this website should definitely update that its closed save other people the disappointment we experienced.

Admission is free, I however was special and purchased passes through groupon and then found that out. ( RUDE). Location is small and overloaded with information. Very crammed together and lots and lots of reading rather than exploring. The museum itself is small.Ran by volunteers and donations keep it running. There is a train outside that you can climb on and ring the bell.Place IS NOT CHILD FRIENDLY. They try super hard to make it child friendly but laying out coloring pages and handing our lollipops but my 3 toddlers were not assumed. They were more excited seeing a train drive by.Great stop for the older crowd.

Cool little museum! Its not so much transportation as a whole as it is trains, but still nonetheless interesting. Admission is free, which is always a plus. Theres a small gift shop and indoor section of the museum that has some interesting memorabilia to take a look at. On the outside is the train, which is really cool.

Review №19

This place is really cool and fun. The only thing is that most of the train tracks are elevated, making it hard for little kids (who I would think is the main audience for this venue) to see. But tons of really cool displays with working lights and sounds and buttons so that people can operate the different parts. Odd hours (only open once a month or something) but worth a visit if youre into trains or have a little one who is.

Fantastic hidden gem located in the recesses of Tucsons Barrio Hollywood. Hard to find from the highway, but it makes the payoff that much more rewarding. The tables have pottery and small arts and crafts inside a glass display case, theres Mexican paper artwork everywhere, and the music is comprised of oldies. The food, though more basic in terms of Tucson Mexican cuisine, was still very good. I highly recommend this place!

Cute to see and was pretty clean, but couldn’t spend much time in the indoor history area. There was a homeless lady with her bags thrown all over where the tv is and her smell filled the whole building. I was also really uncomfortable as she started following my kids very closely even as we walked into the bathroom. She looked shocked when I shut the door on her. The greeter/staff were also very unkind, we added to the donation box and she couldn’t even say hello back. The train has no one to operate it on the weekdays I guess. So we just read all the signs and then went on to lunch. It was cute to see, but not a place to visit multiple times

For free, this is a great place to visit. We went on a second Saturday, which is when they do family events- there was a story time, little tractor-pulled train rides, lots of coloring and crafts, trinkets for kids, and water. It made it worth the drive over. Parking was also free on Saturday. The big steam engine was really cool to see.
