Awesome museum and amazing staff. Experience there was great. Only reason not 5 stars is one concern. I am not at all for the censorship of art in any means. I did however take an underage kid with me and we entered a room with many satanic like figures and art made with a guys pubic hair and seamen, with a video talking about his process. Just saying a little heads up would have been cool, even a post-it on the threshold saying “ Are you sure you wanna come in?” Anything.

5 dollars I suppose is right for the museum but what they had on display when I was there I still felt a little disappointed. Maybe visit when they have an exhibit you want to see. Staff are good. Building is nondescript. It was fairly easy to walk to from my down town hotel.

Small, boring museum that was more focused on pushing a political narrative than interesting art. Im not saying art cant have an agenda, or be used to open people to different ways of thinking, but I was not impressed.

For being a small city I find it amazing that we not only have a MOCA but that it is a perfect space and well-curated. In an old fire house, the main gallery is open to natural light from the north and south. It makes it a little sweaty in the summer, but at least its not an east/west. Shows are set up to take the best advantage of the building, from the main gallery to smaller rooms and alcoves. I highly recommend it as a spot for local and tourist alike. Make a day of it since El Minuto and Cushing Steet Cafe are both within walking distance, along with the El Tiridito shrine.

Maybe my timing was wrong, because I was slightly disappointed in the exhibit. The main room showed basically paintings of the Sonora Desert. The smaller rooms had only a few pieces of art in each. Being a globetrotter maybe I expected too much from a small museum. For five dollars it was interesting at best. Ill be back, when they have a new exhibit

This is just one of the museums I visited in Tucson during a horribly hot visit in June. I mention the heat, because the staff gave both me and my dog water when they saw I was distressed. So kind and thoughtful. The exhibit was fascinating. The curator did a wonderful job showcasing a very interesting artist. In other words, not my favorite artist, but one that I found very worthwhile to see. My opinion of the showcased artist actually changed due to the brilliance of the presentation. This is a worthwhile museum to see if you are in Tucson

I payed a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art on a mission to discover new territory for my own creative inspiration... Not being a native of Tucson, I sometimes venture out to explore areas of the city I have not yet experienced. Art & Culture was my goal, an what an adventure my afternoon turned out to be!! The overall aesthetic of the Museum of Contemporary Art is amazing; a spacious setting that reveals form & design concepts throughout the venue, yet the windows in the structure keep you connected with the essence of its desert surroundings. Its a refreshing change from the other museums Ive been to around the world. Notably, the Museum offers a variety of installations - Visual Art Forms, in addition to some very interesting, (and not so typical), community activities and events. Personally, I Love This Place It definitely provided me with the Creative Inspiration I initially set out to find It is certainly a place that EVERYONE can comfortably enjoy! And for me, has become a favorite destination for smoothing out my Artistic Edges

I went here for a free event called Sparkle Motion that was geared towards the queer community and providing an opportunity for us to come together to make art! It was so awesome because making art is one of my favorite things, and they had a ton of materials for us to use, all for free. Plus we could get into the museum and check out thus exhibits for free, too. The two that I saw were noteworthy. Many thanks to the people who put on Sparkle Motion and also those who work at MOCA general!

It was a joke! $8. To get in to see an empty building. Plywood with circles cut out in one room, 150 lude photos creating a wallpaper collage in another. Lets not forget the room with the amateur posters. When you walk in you are faced with a 2000+ square foot room with 2 ruffly made sculptures, thats it, I dont get it. The waste of space is unreal! They are surrounded by artists, showing off an empty building. OMG, wouldnt want to leave out the fact that you can buy Telly Tubby t-shirts! Wow! Get in touch with the local community...show art!

Im perplexed. Completely confused. Just returned from going to MOCA, we were in there maybe 15 minutes. I thought there must be more rooms, that what I was seeing couldnt be all that was there. I wouldnt even consider what I did see as art. A room with photos that an amateur could have taken, a large room with rain pipes pouring water into a truck bed and a wooden structure, plus a room with wooden pieces that have some paint on them? Oh, and a front desk, a shop and some bathrooms. I double checked to make sure we werent missing something, but that was it? P.S. They charged $8 for this, which is completely reasonable for an actual art museum, but not this place. The Etherton Gallery was free, and had actual art if, if you like photography I suggest going there. This should be reversed, because I wouldnt go here for free if Id known what was in it, and Id make several trips to Etherton even if they charged a fee.
