We were approved VERY fast thanks to Brooke! She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and the sweetest. She worked with our complicated needs and bent over backwards to get us where we need to be. Our new home is lovely and we couldnt be more happy with everything. Definitely talk to Brooke when you decide to go with Montara, itll make the experience smooth and enjoyable.

We move into a beautiful home next week and we’re so excited! The process was very easy and quick, and Brooklyn made it as stress free as it could be. She showed us several homes and knew exactly what would work for us. She went above and beyond to stay in contact with us and let us know where we were in the process, and was extremely positive and friendly through the whole experience. I’m very thankful to have worked with her, and can’t wait to move ️

I was approved over a month ago. I had been trying to see potential houses, I believe her name was Marla she we rude and not knowledgable at all about any of the homes. I am giving this four stars only because of how awesome Brooklyn is! She has seriously worked so hard in my behalf. She follows up in a timely manner. She is knowledgeable about any property she shows. She can answer any questions I may have with out any hesitation. If anyone is going to come to montara to check out some potential homes ask for Brooklyn I promise you wont be dissapointed! Thanks for all your hard work Brooklyn. Cant wait to close and be able to move into my new home all because of you!

2 years later, still waiting on kitchen cabinets. I have the original metal ones that have been here since this was an army base. Every month I call and get told the same thing. “ You have been approved, just waiting on corporate to receive funding” This is by far very frustrating! My cabinets are literally coming off the hinges in which maintenance has came to fix a couple of times! I’ve been here since 2012. I absolutely love Montara but I think it’s a bit ridiculous that rent keeps going up every year and i’m still waiting on kitchen cabinets two years later!

I lived here from 2012-2018. When I first moved in, the rent was reasonable and if you needed something, it wouldnt take long to get done. Shortly after moving in back in 2012 we noticed roaches. We brought this up to the office and they sent out an exterminator. Problem solved.I moved to a new duplex in 2014 (still owned by Montara Leasing). Rent was still reasonable and I lived in a great area with great neighbors. I believe during this time, ownership in Montara went through some changes and things went downhill. The ceiling in my bathroom started peeling off. They sent in a contractor who was amazed there was no exhaust fan but said he would put one in when he came to do the work, this would also help with any mold. Almost a year went by and every time I called the office, they let me know they were busy and working on it. They finally sent someone out to fix it but it was their own guys. They didnt put in an exhaust fan and haphazardly redid the ceiling and then put crown molding on upside down. As for the exhaust fan, they supplied us with one and my husband ended up installing it with his friend.Another time my hallway closest came off the railings. I called them because I couldnt get them back on to save my life and they let me know they would replace the doors. They came back later that week with the wrong doors. They said they would bring the right doors back but never did. We bought a house and moved so we werent too worried about that. Also, our wonderful duplex neighbors moved in 2017. What replaced them was a family of 5 who sounded like they were auditioning for WWE. They were so loud at times that the walls in our living room would shake. They also bought a fridge that had roaches. We started to notice roaches on our side and try as I might, I was never able to get rid of them. I spoke to an exterminator at work and he said we would need to treat both sides to get rid of them completely. So I called the office and offered to pay to treat our side if they could treat the other. They said there was nothing they could do and if the other tenants didnt want to treat their side, that was up to them.We moved in the summer of 2018 and have never looked back.

I currently live in a private owned side of a duplex here. I have been here for five years I have not had any problems until today when approached by a manager from the company about how I train my dog. The person I would imagine is a manager here in montera requested to know if I lived in one of his properties giving the impression that he was going to throw me out of my own home because he did not agree with my training methods Then when he found out that I am not on one of his properties the manager threaten to call the authorities for my training methods. Giving the impression that anything you do in montera can result in your eviction. Proceed with caution

I no longer live here (my lease ended a few months back) but when I did I had no complaints. Spacious duplexes for a good price. I’ve seen other reviews criticize the staff and maintenance but in my experience they couldn’t have been more pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend Montara to anyone I know.

You couldnt pay to leave here and please be careful. I am no longer there ( thank goodness) we moved in with our dog who andwas healthy became sick and started having seziures ( put him on meds to control them) he ended up passing away and I never thought it was something in the house until he watched a 7 year old family dog over the summer and within less than a month she started having seziures. We took her to the vet 400 dollars later. We got her out of that house. I dont if its lead or black mold( my guess) I can think a lot more things that made this the worst place to leave. I wanted to let this be known so other animals cant get hurt.

Rude staff. Management ups rent unexpectedly. Late fees are crazy. Also, the places they showed us were disgusting. Smelled horrible and so many stains. Cabinets off the hinges, toilets black, water pressure is so low as well. The sizes of the backyards are great but that’s about it. You get what you pay for. There’s also little parking on most of the streets. Very crowded

This place is horrific. I have been here for 7 months. I was told the cabinets would be replaced because of their condition and they haven’t. I’ve had to contact them monthly for ongoing issues. I asked them to fix a vent that came out of the wall. I had to contact them 4 days later because my 19 month old grandson cut himself on it running down the hall. I can’t wait till my lease is up. The staff are rude and this has just been a very very miserable place. It even had roaches when I moved in. Can’t wait to move. My attorney is very involved.

If you like landlords that never come to fix anything in the house after requesting for months, then this is the landlord for you. Took 3 months to get a toilet seat replaced, still waiting on the gutters to be fixed 3 years after moving in, you have to beg for the chimney to be swept (fire department called at one address because the smoke backed up into the home for a clogged chimney), and so on and so on. The front porch fell apart at the neighbors house across the street. They promised to rebuild it almost 3 years ago now. That neighbor moved out and a family moved in with a handicapped person. They promised them that they would get it rebuilt with a handicap ramp. That was over a year and a half ago now and still not built, nor is there an ADA compliant ramp for the guys wheelchair to get in and out of their house. I like the area and that is the only reason for the stars. If I knew I had a choice of landlords when I decided to move out here, I definitely would have went with someone else. Montara Village and Dunc1 are the biggest reasons that this neighborhood cannot improve.

Was a nice place to live, raised my rent $ 75 in 3 years. I have lived here for going on 12 years, since Im on disability I get paid on the third of the month thats when I pay my rent. From 2007 to 2015 never a word from them. Pass 2 years almost every month a notice is put on my door about possible eviction? Never been late

I would say our time at Montara was fairly decent. Nothing great, nothing terribly bad. However when we went to leave we were forced to pay an entire months rent for an entire month that we did not stay one day in the house. They refuse to pro rate the rent when you leave and you must put your 30 day notice in on the 1st otherwise you pay for the next entire month. Definitely makes it near impossible to be able to afford to leave.

Management/office employees are rude. Properties left unkempt, derelict, and run down. They raise rent at least every 6 months. They are INCREDIBLY slow to fix any issues on property. In 7 years they have never done anything for the ice/snow in the neighborhood. Absolutely terrible here. Do NOT rent from them

Absolute garbage staff. Previous owners at least took pride in their neighborhood and the people they rented or sold too. The corporation that owns Montara Village now is nothing but slums. Have no clue what its like to be in customer service and do nothing to help their tenants. Its give me money. Nothing else. I would not recommend anyone to live at this monstrosity of a community.

When I initially contacted Montara to look at properties with my husband, everything went very well. We met with Ricky at their leasing office where we got copies of our licenses to start the viewing. We followed him around to the various options that were available within our price range and desired specifications. The neighborhood overall looked nice and peaceful, even to include a small playground near the center for children to play on. Both of the properties we viewed were in very good condition and we actually put a deposit down on one of them for $250.00 (half of the full deposit which the remainder is paid when lease is signed) which we were told is refundable. We paid via credit card (new to us but this location accepts it) and filled out the application. While doing this, we did get a brief insight into the office regarding their professionalism. The ladies working there that answered the phones regarding repairs would openly bad-mouth the tenants regarding their calls and how it seemed like an issue for them to have to handle work orders or sending out repairmen to fix these issues when its part of their job. Following this, we headed to meet some upcoming coworkers of my husbands, still keeping the money down on the house and not putting much stock into the ladies there. Upon speaking to his coworkers, and others for that matter, the immediate consensus from everyone is to not move into this neighborhood due to the quality of its tenants. While some areas were good they admitted, they all agreed the majority of it they would not feel safe living in without owning a firearm to say the least. Upon learning the consensus on this neighborhood, we decided to look elsewhere to see if we could find better prior to signing a lease (during this time we had been approved and were scheduled to sign on 10/16). We did find somewhere in a much more preferred area that was actually recommended to us, and chose to pursue that option instead. On 10/16 I called up Ricky (office is closed weekends, otherwise I wouldve called sooner) and let him know that we had chosen to go with a property that fit our needs/wants better, and asked to be refunded the $250.00 we put down as we were told it was refundable. He admittedly sounded very let down by this news, but said we would get our refund. Its now over a week later, and a refund still hasnt been issued on their end. We have now had to put a dispute on the charge through our credit card, and are awaiting the 30 day period in which they have to issue one while our credit card company contacts them to try and sort this out. Id get opinions prior to looking at this community, and definitely be wary about putting down money of any form if theres a chance youll need to ask for a refund. As an update, 5 months later: We were never refunded our half deposit of $250.00 as for some reason our credit card company saw it as valid transaction even after we explained the situation and that it was refundable should we choose not to sign the lease.
