I decided to check out summerbrooke after hearing they won best course of Tallahassee this year. I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. It is a shorter course but it is tight enough off the tee to make you think twice with a truly great layout. Once they fix up some of the aesthetics this will be a 5 star course without a doubt. One thing I would personally love to see is them firm up the greens to the max since it is a shorter course. (Just under 6,600 from the tips)

All staffs work hard to improve the golfcourse condition.Although there are much sands on greens and fairways, condition of the course is better than last summer. I love playing this course.

The team at the Golf Club at Summerbrooke have created a great golf and leisure experience for me and my family. My teenage son has developed a love of the sport because of the encouraging staff at Summerbrooke. The pool has been a nice addition to a round of golf and we’d recommend the experience to anyone. Started playing golf again after a good solid 10 break. Started roughly 7 months ago playing at this course, and yes... Like a lot of reviews said, this course was rough. And I will say even now, 7 months in, this course is still far from perfect. BUT, I have been very happy to see constant improvements to this course. It gets better and better every time I go. The management has done a great job of improving all aspects of the facility and the staff all around has been great. I feel as though things are heading in the right direction with this golf course and Im glad that the money I spend here goes a lot further than some other golf courses in Tallahassee.

I really had my hopes up for a great experience at this club. My first time playing here and I had heard it was really improving. Maybe so but I dont have a previous experience to compare. Positives: the fairways are in good shape; the check in was simple, quick, and friendly; the layout is great; it has a lot of potential. Most but not all of the greens were great. Negatives: several of the greens have serious issues; several of the tee boxes were very thin and a couple were almost all dirt (gold tees); water coolers werent refreshed and one I tried to use on the back nine had a broken valve. It was almost empty and we were playing a 9 a.m. tee time. Not good when playing in 90+ degree temps. These coolers also werent in secure racks, leaving them vulnerable. The roughs were more like natural areas where dead limbs were down and piles of debris hadnt been removed in a long time. Really, the attention to detail just wasnt there.

Great layout, narrow fairways, can easily loose your ball in the rough. Devils Elbow (Holes 15-17) is very challenging.

Recently and friend of mine and I decided to give the ladies a break from the kids and took them here to golf with us. The staff were super welcoming which I was worried because we had 4 with us ranging from 5 to 8 years old. They even allowed us to bring coolers out so we werent dropping a ton of money to keep kids hydrated. Super nice and challenging course that doesnt hurt the pocket. This course will be my go to course in Tallahassee for life.

Beautiful course, very kind and funny staff! Its great to get out during this time of quarantine and know Summerbrooke is taking all precautions to make sure were safe and still having fun!

Great golf course to play, I ended up buying a memebership and it has been well worth it. I can tell they are making a lot of improvements to the course which is making it much nicer to play on from the greens to the cart paths. Come play here at least once and see what its all about, especially with the 15-17 holes.

Course was in excellent shape but we had to share carts.

Visited from out of town and played 18 holes with my son. The price was a real bargain ($15 each including cart after 2pm) and we enjoyed the course. Beautiful oaks with Spanish moss abound. Some interesting and challenging holes, especially the last 3 holes. The greens arent in tip top shape and the cart path need work in places, but overall a very enjoyable course and a fantastic value.

Been playing golf here since i was 3. I’ve never had a problem with anyone minus a few employees who didn’t know what they were doing. Course is doing good. Food is good. And the staff is excellent

An Oasis! Love the charm and setting here amongst the live oaks and palm trees! The service staff is refreshingly cheerful and respectful.

I can’t believe how they can justify charging $30 for a round. Most of the tee boxes are torn to hell, and the greens are horrible. About 75% of the time you are putting across straight mud. The greens are rock hard and if you have a back pin location and try to go after it your odds of staying on are slim to none. To top it off they forget to tell you that the 16th hole is closed. The fact that the guy working the tee shop called it a “steal” at 30 bucks is laughable. I will not be golfing here until major changes occur. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this course.After the new owner invited me out for a free round I do need to change my review. It’s obvious that the owner is trying to make changes. The greens are getting better and appropriate repairs are being made. Would love to see the tee boxes and the remaining greens be the next focus. After that the cart paths. The owner is receptive and is working hard to get this course in great shape . Greens are more receptive which is nice.

Can’t believe I paid over $40 to play this. Worst condition of a golf course I have ever played. About half the greens have been freshly sodded which means you can’t putt on them. Other areas of the greens are just sand. Fairways are hard, dead and have no grass in most spots. Make sure to bring a drill to get your tee in the ground on the tee boxes. I understand they are under new management and trying to rebuild but this course is in horrible shape.

This is our 4th year as Summerbrooke Pool members and I must say the best by far. The improvements that have been made to the pool area as well as the club have really made a difference. We have enjoyed many afternoons pool side with friendly staff and great food. We have even participated in a few events in the club house. We are looking forward to a great summer!

The course is being brought back to its former glory by the new ownership. Friendly and helpful staff! My kids and I love playing the course as often as possible.

Greens are in terrible shape. Several sand traps feel like youre hitting off packed dirt. Even some of the tree boxes are bad. Its a nice course, but needs lots of work. There are signs that work is being done, but nowhere near finished. Hopefully, theyll get it right.

Just from a visitor’s point of view, this is a very nice clubhouse. The pool is large and inviting, with a small snack/drink bar. The dining room serves a Sunday brunch that looked delightful!

Course was playable, it is under construction and I cant wait to go back and hopefully give it a 5 star review. Management and owner were on site which was a huge plus in my book.

Summerbrooke Country Club has improved a lot in the past year. When I first started playing at Summerbrooke it was an alright course, but it needed improvements. Now that the improvements have been made it is one of my favorite courses in Tallahassee. Summerbrooke is a great course and I have loved playing golf at Summerbrooke this past year. The employees at Summerbrooke were amazing. The employees were always there to help me when I could not figure out where to go, and what to get on the menu. Summerbrooke is overall a great course that I recommend for all golfers.

About 1/3 of the tee boxes and some of the greens are just in brutal conditions. It was a hot summer afternoon and three of the four water stations were completely empty, the fourth was full of ambient temperature water. My guess is they hadnt even been serviced that day.The faults above notwithstanding, the course was okay . Most of the holes are not terribly challenging, but some of them certainly are. $25 to ride on a weekday afternoon is pretty nice , if I lived in the area I might try it here and there , but the issues mentioned are kind of serious.Staff and players on the course all seem to be nice and friendly.

In my opinion this is the best layout in tallahassee. Historically the condition has not been very good but over the last few months it has gotten much better. The owner is working hard to fix some issues such as cracks in the cart paths and the driving range.

Greens were unplayable. Mostly dead grass and dirt. Bunkers were mud packed solid and the tee boxes were uneven and unkept. It has potential to be such a beautiful course. So sad.

My fiance and I visited the location seeking a possible reception venue. We walked into the facility to find a group of middle-aged to older gentlemen sitting around, among them were employees whom had clearly marked uniforms indicating that they were staff. As we tried to figure out who to get in contact with to be able to find out more information we were watched like hawks and made to feel as though we were not welcomed there at all. No one ever acknowledged the fact that we were there outside of the sharp stares and sudden quietness that came over the room as soon as we entered. A gentleman got up from his seat and walked right past us as he proceeded behind the counter, as only employees would be able to do, and we were able to clearly see that he had a uniform on. My fiance then asked him if there was someone that was available to ask questions about rental information. The guy very nonchalantly turned us over to another gentleman that was nearby. I would have rated this site without any stars but I feared that it wouldve been mistaken for an incomplete rating rather than the poor rating it so richly deserves. It is really shameful that still in this day and age that cultural diversity and at a bear minimum, customer service, are not placed at a high priority for all business establishments. Simply put, if you dont look like the majority of the membership population in the area it is not likely that you will be respected as an equally important potential customer. This is very sad and unfortunate because the greenery is beautiful. My money is green regardless of my skin color and I should be shown the same respect regardless. Shame on you!!!

I have never seen greens and tee boxes in such horrible condition.

I go to the clubhouse for homeowner association events. It seems very nice the staff are friendly the facilities are clean and its very comfortable. It has a bar but the food is usually brought in. I have not tried wing night which is sometimes on Thursday evening.

Just a few holes from being a jewel in North Florida. Keep up the good work!

Fun course to play in beautiful shape, I think some of the course specially the greens have since been redone I am guessing since some of the earlier reviews were done on here. Course overall is in very good shape, will defiantly continue to play here.

Played on Friday and Monday 17 of the 18 hole placements were not changed thats a bit of a problem. But all said the course played very nicley much improved.

At one time this was a good course, but that time is not now. They always have a situation going on with kids driving on the greens, or this last time, they had a freeze that busted the irrigation lines, which required them to dig the lines up, which were in the middle of the 16th and 18th fairway. Literally a 5 foot deep ditch dug with a backhoe in the fairway. The people here are really nice. The pool is nice, but they just cant get the course condition right. I keep holding out hope...

Summerbrooke is BACK! I remember playing PCS when it first opened and was such a wonderful course. Unfortunately a few years ago, it fell on hard times and poor management and the condition of the course really suffered. I played on March 21, 2014 and am delighted to report that HUGE progress has been made. The course has been extensively reworked, the greens reseeded, and much more. Theres still progress to be made, but they are definitely leaps and bounds ahead of when I last played in August of 2013.Great staff, very friendly! Tight and challenging course, but very beautiful.

Wow what a horrible place to get ahold of any manager, I always get put on hold and told to call back. Ive never seen a more unorganized place of buissness, if that what you want to call it. Rude people. Will never go back or call Im done. The owners are so rude also! Looks like all there is running the place are kids!

Great job Summerbrooke getting this great layout and club to where it is......Had a great outing there, and cant wait to get back, be it personal or for a business outing. Greens were great, and the staff was amazing and attentive. Wont be going anywhere else next time Im in Tallahassee for business, a game or just passing through.

Im from Panama City, FL. In Tallahassee visiting this weekend and decided I would try this course out. Price was $35 which I thought was pretty cheap. However for the quality of the course I overpaid. Cart paths were so bad you couldnt stay on them at points. When they were you still couldnt stay on them because the branches would hit you in the face. Fairways and tee boxes were ok but still muddy (it hadnt rained recently). Greens, which they say were completely redone recently, were horrendous. Half grass, half black dirt / mud. I had to take relief on the fringe of the green several times due to plugging and casual water from being heavily overwatered. I played 8 holes and left due to the poor conditions. My girlfriend, who rode with me, even commented on how bad the course was and she doesnt play golf. I recommend playing anywhere else.

Over the past 6-12 months the greens and course have improved significantly. Beautiful pool area. Dont pay a ton of attention to the 6 year old reviews. Did not try the food but the bar looked well stocked.

If you are paying money to play this golf course you were robbed. The conditions are an embarrassment to real golf courses. No grass on tee boxes, hard pan all over the place, sand traps that have no sand (were actually filled with water), and greens that you are best just to take no more than two putts and pick up.The real shame here is that this is a really tough golf design layout. If you cannot hit a straight tee shot you will lose your ball. Your margin for error is minimal, as there are trees and houses lining the entire golf course. So because the conditions are so bad, new ownership in an attempt to generate revenue has lowered the rates to really affordable, which attracts new golfers and people who dont want to pay a lot for a round of golf because its not worth it to them because their game is too new or that bad. So they pay a little and come here, and think they are actually playing golf. But it actually hurts your game playing here, as you arent hitting real shots off of hard pan, and dirt, or putting on greens that arent worthy of being called golf greens.What pains me through all of this is that I live less than 3 miles from this place. To play a real golf course Im forced to drive at least 30 minutes, when I could just come here. But this is not a real golf course in any way, shape or form. I still love the layout, but the frustration with lack of grass and playing on dirt does not even justify paying any amount of money to abuse myself for 3 or 4 hours.

Well, I cant add anything that hasnt already been said. However, once they bring the greens back, get the bunkers fixed, and soften up the hard pan this course will be great. For now, Ill give it two stars.

The layout of this course is among the top 5 in town, and #15, 16 and 17 are probably the best 3 holes in Tallahassee. 15 and 16 seem to take you out of Florida entirely and would be more at home in the mountains. #17 is a great little peninsula greened par 3 with a really great water feature.Condition is, and for the last 6 years has been on par with a dog track. It is really that bad, leading to a closure and new management recently. No doubt the new management is improving things everyday, and I look forward to playing it again after POPE has it straightened out. It is currently in playable condition. They are on EZ links now too, so there is/will be deals to be had.

Awful awful greens. Dirt patches, pot holes, just horrendous. Fairways in fair shape and layout is tough. But the greens border on unplayable in spots. Plus the staff is indifferent at best, 20 minutes for four hot dogs !!! Spend your money elsewhere!!!!

The Food Has Improved!!!I would like to thank Joel Stock (Food & Beverage Manager) for an incredibly delicious meal this evening at the Summberbrooke Annual HOA meeting on Tuesday 19 July 2016The meatballs were kitchen made tasty and restaurant quality, the Tandori chicken was fresh and professionally presented, the BBQ Smoked pork slices were heavenly, the BBQ Wings were beyond finger lickin good. The Colonel would have approved. Everything was prepared fresh, and not out of a can.He and his staff are a class act. I had a nice conversation with Joel and also talked to his staff. They are professional and have a great vision for serving the Summerbrooke Club. Summerbrooke is very lucky to have them.As it has been said in a baseball movie, build it and they will come. Joel is rebuilding the reputation of the Summerbrooke Club menu. This level of quality of food is a significant improvement to the backwoods beer, pickled sausage and egg bar approach of the past.Joel is building a great menu and top notch service at the Summerbrooke Club. The neighborhood could use a higher level of Club Food and Joel is doing just that. :-)As long as Joel is there, I will be a regular from now on!Great Job gang!
