I love that this oasis of local art exists! Not many galleries open the doors to new artists or modern, edgy work. This female owned gallery not only hosts a variety of great and refreshing work, they also host events for non-profits, teach paint-and-sip type events, and work with other female-owned businesses! The owner has been very accommodating and welcoming. They also dealt with controversy surrounding an artist with kindness and fairness for all involved, without smearing anyones name. A great place to buy art, display work and hold or attend events!
La Resistance-curated art shows and musical events have been active in Spokane for a number of years. So, it was with delight that I learned La Resistance opened a place of its own to show and sell work of artists whose expressive and eclectic approaches speak to statement, exploration. Not a sales gallery box with pretty, polished, middle of the road art, but a forum and community for raw voices taking chances. La Resistance has monthly First Friday exhibit openings/receptions, live music, plus offers a variety of classes and workshops. Check it out!
