Although single-staffed, the staff is patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Able to deal with tech issues flawlessly and maintain a respectable atmosphere. 5/5 would recommend due to staffing alone. Unfortunately one man can only work so fast, so you may have to wait while there are issues, but thats no problem.

A bit of a rough start trying to get acclimated to the system, and the staff weren’t quite understanding how to communicate with Deaf users. Once we got over that hump, the games were enjoyable - the ones that worked anyway. A few of them were buggy. Best one was Elven Dragon.

Id say its pretty good, just that the cost is kind of high for and hour. Also the headset I was using didnt have superhot, it was okay but thats one of my favorite VR games. They should have all the games advertised in the headset... But other than that, it was awesome! the Worker there kept checking up on me ver 30 min too see if everything was working fine, which it was. So yeah, pretty good i guess

This is a really good place to experience VR gaming if you dont want to drop $1000 on your own VR setup at home. Lots of game options for both kids and adults. While understanding the controls was simple, it would have been appreciated if the staff would have suggested some games based on my interest. I walked in, was put in booth 9 which had none of the games I came to play. I would have come back at a different time if that was more clear. After 45 minutes I was more than ready to be done.Edit in response to owner: I understand and thanks for the reply. My only suggestion is to better clarify that each booth only has certain games. A menu to look at before having to pay would be useful.

This place was fun. I visited with two friends and the three of us shared one booth for an hour, taking turns playing various one-player games while the other two watched on the big screen monitor and cheered the other one on (or made fun of him, as appropriate). The interface froze a couple of times in an hour but was quickly resolved by friendly staff. The games were mostly simple, but they were entertaining and almost as much fun to watch as to play. Ask the staff to wipe down the headset between players turns if you dont like sharing forehead sweat with your friends. The staff are happy to do that if you ask.I think it would be most fun to have a group of four people and rent two booths next to each other. There are a couple of multi-player games that you can only play if you have more than one booth rented. Star Trek bridge crew can be played with up to four players. All the other people gathered in the space can see all the people in the booths and all the screens, so be prepared for strangers to cheer (or jeer) your game play as well as your friends. Or you can go just to hang out, drink beers, and watch other people play. The bottled beer selection is decent, but the snack food selection is very limited (like movie theater candy). Best to plan on getting food somewhere else nearby if you are hungry.

This was my first time playing a VR game and I loved every minute of it! Im not a huge videogame person but this was truly something else. Husband and I (late twenties) bought a groupon for $18 for 15 minutes of game play for both of us - which I think was a fantastic deal. 15 felt sufficient for a first time visit (instructional time does not count against the clock, so youre actually there for almost half an hour). I really want to do this again with other games or with the Google Earth option. Highly recommend for people of all ages!

Portal VR is a local business, and theyre staff are super friendly/helpful. They have well-maintained equipment, and a really wide variety of games ranging from casual to the more serious gamer. Excellent service and game selection. Helpful staff to assist in choosing the right game, and on onboarding quickly. Room kept cool enough to play comfortably. Same day reservations are accepted. There are enough bays to support a party, and each are nice and large to support full (standing and moving) VR. Best part - they are well configured for multiplayer!Price is fairly expensive hourly ($30/hr), but this is competitive with other VR rooms. This is a specialty experience and priced to match, but the value is there.I would recommend to others.

Cool new (in 2017) 3D arcade with 10 booths and an *awesome* plank walk where you can ride a virtual elevator to the top floor of a skyscraper and step out onto a narrow plank while your feet feel their way along a low 2x6 board (thats just a few inches off the floor). Great place for a birthday party with 4, maybe 6 kids total (the max for a couple of the fun multiplayer games). Call them though, to arrange a party; its much faster than their (pretty confusing) online reservation and pricing system...

I had no idea this place existed. But of all people, MY WIFE found it when looking for things to do last weekend. It was $40 for a booth for an hour, so we called up her brother and his girlfriend and we all split the booth for an hour.Pro-tip, youll need to book in advance, at least a day in advance if your going to get more than one booth. Also theyre using all HTC, and no Oculus, so the resolution isnt as good as Ive tried with other head sets. The other thing is the setup is defiantly oriented to be more of an Arcade than anything else. There were plenty of moms and dads in the lounge area enjoying a beer or catching up on work while their kids played. It would be awesome if it converted to a 21 plus after a certain time so you can stand behind your friends while they played and have your drink at the same time. --But again the layout isnt really setup for that.In the mean time, its the only VR bar Ive heard of around, and its a great way to spend part of an afternoon with friends.

Way fun! I took my nephews and kids here. They have top of the line VR in booths you can walk in. The staff was very helpful and let us play games together. Street parking is a little crazy, Id recommend going down a block. Staff does good job of sanitizing equipment between guests. Id recommend an hour to really get into it. If you are short on time, try their plank or hang glider swing. They project what people are seeing on big TVs, so watching others is also fun.

My eleven year old loved it. We will be going back for a second time. It takes a little practice to get use to the controls. This is a fun VR gaming Centre! They have around 10 individual booths which you can reserve for a game. For first timers I would recommend starting of with 30 mins because it can get tiring. The prices are a bit steep and I wish they had more multiplayer game options. But its definitely fun! If you are playing in groups, I would recommend u pay for individual booths and select a multiplayer game. You can see and talk to each other via your headsets during the game.I would also recommend you try out the walk the plank VR experience for 5 dollars. Totally worth it!!! They also serve beer and snacks out here. Unique thing to do in Ballard!

I had a bit of an unfortunate situation here. My girlfriend and I had booked an hour to split between the two of us. We get set up, everything works smoothly for the first 10 minutes, until one of the controllers dies. Proceed to have the staff troubleshoot setting up another controller for probably 20 minutes. And they never could get it set up 100%, we spent the rest of the time playing with a controller that would just disconnect randomly, we think the battery was also going out on that one. The workers offered us a bit of extra time, but it wasnt really worth it since we couldnt even play the games properly. Seems like a really cool place with a good collection of games, but I wish we would have been taken care of more when our booth was malfunctioning.

There is litrerally one bathroom thats it. They charge $2.00 for a can of soda and dont take cash only card.Parking isnt idea for the area so theres a museum area where we had to pay and park then walk back up the block.

Loved the experience here! The arcade was set up for about 10 booths at the time my colleagues and I visited. The staff was engaged and helpful and got us going pretty quick. I believe they were set up with the HTC VIVE in all booths. Several single and multi-player games were available. For players who get very active (like I did), it might take a bit of time to get used to the physical space in the booths, especially for games requiring wide arm motions. A few drinks and snacks on site, hopefully more now. All in all, thumbs up for setup, service and experience!

I had a great time once we got the game working, but the experience really varies based on who helps you. It was a good thing we had an extra person in our group (5 people, 4 stations reserved) to provide some support and coordination between us because the main person helping us was not a big help. I think he didnt want to be there. Some suggestions for the folks working there, if they happen to read this:1. Dont grab the headphones off someones head to talk to them. Its incredibly jarring. A gentle touch on the shoulder first would be much better. Tell people that youll touch them on the shoulder before removing their headphones to talk to them, so they know what to expect. You could also consider wiring in a microphone that will take over the headphone audio so you can talk to customers who are in game.2. Check in more often when people are in the tutorial modes. We would have wasted a lot more time without our friends help because we didnt know what to do next. One of us was set up with her controllers swapped, so she was struggling with the tutorial due to the left want being in her right hand and vice versa.3. Give us a way to call for help. Make sure we know how to remove our headset and maybe give us a button we can push or a light we can turn on. I suppose shouting works, but thats probably not what you want either.4. If possible, work out some of those hardware/network issues. We had a lot of dropping audio and one of us kept having her headset go blank on her. VR software and hardware is still new, so I understand if its not something you can fix, but there may be some wiring or networking issues you can resolve.I know youre a small, new business, so I fully expect you to need some time to iron out the kinks. Despite the issues, we had a great time, and well be back for sure!

We are visiting from FL and saw the awesome reviews on Yelp so decided to visit. Had an absolute blast. The staff were super duper kind and knowledgeable about all of the games. They helped us to setup multiplayer games and the tutorial was quick so we knew what to do. They had a lot of games, I think 20ish per setup. You can go online and pick which set of games you want and sign the waiver so that you are good to go when you get there. Then you can control which games you play and switch out games as often as you want. The staff were really fun and just excited that we were having fun. Would love to come back here with friends. They have a some multiplayer games for a group or just two. We love and live for video games but it would also be fun for folk who causally enjoy games too. Highly, highly recommend stopping by here and reserving time ahead of time online. Its possible they have a party there so you want to make sure the time slot is open. I reserved for the same day about 6 hours ahead of time.
