Chinese Garden temporarily closed. The garden is nice, but small. Nestled inside the college arboretum, which requires entrance into campus. Currently in process of being expanded, but unclear if construction will continue. As you can see from photos, the surrounding area looks like a construction lot, which is exactly what the plot of land was before (it is mentioned in their plaques). Architecture great for themed photos. Pics attached for when I went when it was open.

I remember when this was just an artists rendering in front of a field of scotch broom next to the South Seattle college arboretum. That was about 25 years ago. Its been such a pleasure watching this place grow and mature. After all these years i still visit almost everyday. It is usually peaceful and I can always find somewhere to sit and let go of of the stress of everyday life.

Quiet, serene, spacious, had a variety of things. Large space with shade and sun. Bamboo, water, nice view, green grass, fruit trees, and blooms. Good for a walk. It’s larger than you think. We found a nice private path back of the temple and it was great! Nice gem in the middle of town.

Walked in the summer and that was gone the summer not the walk which lasts forever because I’m a ghost. Now it’s later. Be advised, time isn’t real. More space grows. I counted many beautiful plants and a few ugly ones but ugly is just a genre of beautiful. It’s just a matter of personal preference. I like stumperies, for example, and succulents and carnivore plants. I also like trees and the word pond. The word orchard. Etc. So yeah I haunt, no big whoop.

Great potential, what has been completed, is beautiful, I believe most of the construction was done with Craftsman from Szechwan province. Too bad that the project seems to be stalled for years. It has so much potential. Do check out the College arboretum which shares the space. It has a very nice conifer collection, ponds, some wonderful plantings and views of downtown. A few awkward student structures and beds, but mostly very nice and worth a visit..

Thoroughly enjoyed walking this garden on the South Seattle Community College campus. Example of how less can sometimes be more. It is one of several small, adjacent gardens connected by gravel walking trails. Great escape from your routine for a peaceful stroll. Free parking available as well as a retail garden shop. A bit off the beaten path but worth the effort. It is far from grandiose, such as in Vancouver, Washington but it is a quiet respite from the city, has a nice Chinese courtyard and peaceful views of the city. It is populated on weekends by students and artists and even some performers of Chinese instruments. It is also attached, essentially, to a small arboretum. It is not for those in a hurry to catch the full flavor of Seattle but it is a nice place to just spend some quiet time in a non-Western setting. It is FREE and there is space to enjoy a peaceful lunch in a somewhat intimate setting where time can slow down for a while. It is not Admission Worthy but it is Donation Worthy, if that will help you decide whether to spend some precious time or not. When finished, this will be the largest Chinese Garden outside of China itself. Since I was visiting towards the end of March, not too much was in bloom besides the cherry trees, but the winding paths, pergolas, evergreens, were still nice.

The plan for this place shows a gorgeous garden, lake, pagoda, and more. While only the central courtyard and a few small areas been built so far, it is beautiful. I really hope they find the funding to finish it to the full scope of the plan. It will be a gem in Seattles crown of stellar parks.

One of the most beautiful, tranquil, and peaceful parts of the city! Tucked (no really, you blink and youll miss it!) on the South Seattle College campus it has a tremendous array of Chinese plants and Feng Shui architecture. Its not complete and is slowly being built but the caretakers do a wonderful job of maintaining the grounds. You will not be disappointed! Go and seek quiet solace here among all the hustle and bustle.

This hidden gem is tucked away next to the South Seattle Community College campus. West Seattle is usally known for Alki Beach but before you hit the Alki Strip this is a great place to stop to quickly unwind from the busy week of work. The garden is just s short walk to cover the entire grounds. There is plenty of parking out front. And as an added bonus there seem to be plenty of bunnies who are willing to let you get close enough to take pictures. The garden seems to still be under construction and growing so expect it to be even bigger and better each time you go.
