Nice small place. Probably very old, but has good vibe to it. Perfect for improv. Liked the improv show as well. The theater has many shows on weekends. Would recommend everyone in Seattle to go. I would recommend the show at 7.00 pm.You can get popcorn and alcoholic beverages too.Note: the small stage in the photos below is not the actual stage.

Loved this place! Went to a Saturday show and had an absolute blast with the first show. Then after the first show we were told we could hang around for the next show for free! Definitely a great way to spend the night with some friends while we visited Seattle. I dont go to many improv shows but this was definitely one of the better ones I have experienced. Lots of solid audience input during the show. Also the improved piano background music and improved lights really brought the shows together. Tons of talented people and would 100% recommend stopping by for at least one show to give it a chance.

Great time!! Small intimate theater, inexpensive tickets and back alley location all contribute to the feeling that you are having a little adventure with your entertainment. We were thoroughly entertained as well! The improvisational angle keeps me uniquely engaged and the audience participation is always fun! VERY friendly bartender and cheap drinks that they allow you to bring into the theater as well! Highly recommend for an evening out with family as there is sure to be something that everyone will enjoy-not always the easiest thing

What a show! We stumbled on this place as locals in our own neighborhood. Impressed is an understatement. We laughed out butts off! The super cheap drinks and fresh popcorn were a bonus. No drink minimum and a casual, friendly atmosphere. The comedians all met the audience afterward which is always a fun way to end a show. Being able to thank them for the laughs makes a really personal and unique experience. Highly recommended as a great way to spend an evening. Locals and visitors are sure to be thoroughly entertained.

It was...unexpected... We did many of the big tourist things and wanted something diffrent. We thought we would be the only 2 in the place, it was a packed house. We did the 7 pm show. The cast has a blast, had us all laughing and left us wanting more. Super fun. Every night will be unique.

Awesome spot to come check out, grab a beer, and enjoy an interesting improv show for the low price of $10 for an hour of people putting on a brand new production every single night. Best part is that they are open rain or shine. Went on a cold Saturday night after it had snowed for a couple inches and as many shops to museums closed their doors and cancelled shows, they carried on delivering an unforgettable performance and extremely funny laughs. The audience suggestions and participation were absolutely amazing and really added an interactive theme to the entire production which was the best part.

Hilarious! Great space. Popcorn, booze, improv. They even had a keyboardist and did brilliant musical numbers. A performer came and talked to my younger brother and I in our seats before the show, which made the whole experience even more intimate and funny. Can’t wait to go back!

Unexpected Productions Theater Sports has always been one of my favorite improv shows in the PNW. I was a little nervous bringing my daughter for the first time since it had been18 years since my last show....and amazingly they still delivered all these years later. It is such a great value for the level of entertainment offered. I highly recommend for a first date, a fiftieth date or a fun time with friends!!

Indeed, I was not expecting this!We went for the Harold show expecting pro performers, small sequences with variant themes and at the end it was amateur, long scenes with awkward moments.I have no problems about the fact that some groups are amateur and I really think that they need to practice in front of real audiences but it should at least be clear on your website :)

What fun we had sharing the performances of these 6 gifted improv artists. 12 retirement mavens weathered the gum wall access path but settled in to enjoy a full hour of laughter. We will return. Of course we would welcome a hand rail along the way down from Pike, but thats not the responsibility of Unexpected Productions

Great NYE show. Funny scenes, great improvisation. Even with crazy suggestions from the audience, the performers kept the acts mostly clean and family friendly. I noticed that there were several teenagers with their families in the audience this year (last year, I think it was 21+ for the NYE show). They did a good job of checking ID, I giving wristbands, and checking wristbands at the bar before serving drinks during the show.me The champagne was served freely with bottles passed around the audience for anyone to pour their own glasses (or drink from the bottle) once it got close to the midnight countdown, which was perhaps not the best plan with minors in the audience.

I would rate this 3.6 stars to be entirely precise. The troupe was talented. However, IMO it was obvious that the women who was picked out of the crowd was pre-chosen (suggestions maybe too). Either that or she came up with some of the best on the spot dance moves I have ever seen.I also think it went on a little long and would be better suited as an hour rather than an hour and a half. The show had some highlights for me. In the version I saw, there was a section called thrilled. It told the story of two Amazon factory workers who were miserable but feel in love and found their rhythm with the monotony of the job. The one guy reminds me of Dave Grohl in the Best Of Me video (youll know who Im talking about if you go).Refreshing for the most part. Nice to see something different.

I love how many shows there are and at a reasonable price too!I gave it a 4 because one of the shows we watched was a bit disappointing when one skit, a very strange monologue type one, took up 45 minutes of the entire show.. it unfortunately wasn’t all that funny after so long.

This was a fantastic experience! The improv group were great, concessions are actually reasonably priced, and the facility is wonderfully charming. My friend and I got in for half price thanks to a coupon code provided by nearby Piroshky Piroshky. The hardest part was finding the location: from Pike Place & 1st Ave, look to the left of the green Information kiosk for a street that goes downhill/underground beneath a “Market Theater” sign; go down there. Follow the road around to the left in front of Ghost Alley Espresso, and the Market Theatre, where Unexpected Productions puts on the show, will be the second door on your left. Thats where you want to be, at least as of April 2019.

Bottom Line: This is a must do! Great start to the evening, bar inside, drinks allowed in the show. The entrance is at the Gum Wall, tickets are 15$ cheaper for military and student. Fair assortment of drinks and a cozy lobby to wait in if youre early. Giant 8 by 15 chalk wall free to draw. Restrooms look as though they are shared with the staff and customers, very clean. Theater style seats with cup holders in a short stage auditorium.Excellent improv show. If you havent been to an improv show before you may think it will be an awkward experience. It will be at some points. The performers are making it up on the spot and the show will be nothing short of an impressive orchestration of unique minds. After the show the performers mingle in the lobby. Well worth the time money and effort to get to the venue.#improv
