Wonderful venue. Beautiful sets and comfortable seating without a bad seat in the house. Good acoustics and great performance. Easy to find at Seattle center. Good parking close by in parking garage on Mercer.

Went to see Whim WHim contemporary ballet. Simply awesome! The theater is of moderate size. I was two rows from the very back but still felt close to the action. This place is a treasure, and so is Whim WHim!

I went at night and it was so peaceful. There’s small tables to sit and and ponder while looking at the plants they have everywhere. Really cool structure and awesome work of architecture design.

This theater is quite nice, with comfortable seats, good viewing lines to the stage, nice lighting and a decent sound system. Unfortunately, what made the experience today of seeing The Nutcracker rather unbearable was the extreme heat in the room. It had to be at least 80 degrees in there! I understand that when a room is full of people, its going to heat up, but thats why you have temperature controls! I spoke to someone about the heat during the intermission, and was told that they have no control over the heat. This was my first experience at this venue, and sadly it may be my last, because I cant imagine going to another event and suffering through extreme heat like that again.

Limited seating but this is school theater. Better than a community college production definitely.

Very intimate venue. There are only 15-20 rows of seats. This was my first time there. All the seats are good. Usually I like to sit back about 10 rows so I dont have to look up. The stage is only elevated about a foot so even in the first row its possibly to easily see on the stage. Next time I would be comfortable with a front row seat. Of course this means there isnt an orchestra pit. I saw a production of HMS Pinafore and the musicians were seated elevated and in the back of the stage. It worked.

Went to see HMS Pinafore which was fantastic but the review is about the venue, not the play. Play changes. The venue makes or breaks it. Cornish Playhouse is perfect for what is presented. It is smaller (400 seats) and intimate and all seats have a great unobstructed view of the entire performance area which can include parts of the seating area. Seats are stadium style so there is no one in the way of anyone else. Accoustics are perfect without amplification and the sound system used supports what is needed without overpowering or adding anything to the performers talent. Well worth seeing a play, especially a musical.

Rude and racist staff. The will call staff said my 8month pregnant wife could go inside to use the restroom after we drove 3 hours from Portland to see a play. After the door staff looked and seen we were black they spent 5 minutes amongst each other talking and ignoring us as we waited outside of the door. To finally open it and tell us that we’d have to walk 2 blocks to a market to use the restroom if she couldn’t wait 45 minutes until they opened the door. Your staff could use some empathy & equity and diversity training. It wouldn’t be an issue if they hadn’t already told us it was fine. Smh

Full disclosure, I am an employee of the Cornish Playhouse, so this may be slightly biased. The Playhouse primarily hosts theatre and musical theatre performances, both by outside organizations and those by students at Cornish College of the Arts. There are also some dance shows throughout the year, alongside a few other events like private galas and fundraisers. The facility has both restrooms and drinking fountains, and most shows have concessions. Drinks are allowed inside the theater, as long as theyre in a plastic container. No food is allowed to enter the theater. Also, the patron restrooms are, unfortunately, gendered, but we encourage all customers to use whichever restroom they feel is most appropriate for them. The Alhadeff Studio is located in the back of the Playhouse, and has its own entrance. The studio also has gendered restrooms and a drinking fountain. The Playhouse is wheelchair accessible, and has a number of accessible seats reserved for patrons that need them. The ADA entrance to the Playhouse is on the side of the Playhouse facing the Rep (Seattle Repertory Theatre). The door is small, but marked. If you ring the doorbell, staff will come to the door to help you collect your ticket from Box Office, and will continue to help you throughout the performance as you need. The Cornish Playhouse does offer assistive listening devices! To use one, ask a member of the House Managing staff. You will have to leave your ID with the staff as collateral, but the listening devices are free. The Playhouse has two kinds of listening devices, one of which is compatible with certain types of hearing aids and cochlear implants.
