I love this park. It is a great place to go hiking or for a long walk after a long day. I definitely recommend going to this place if you just want to get some fresh air or after a long day of work or if you just want to go out for a little while for a walk.

This park has 3 different entrances. It has got 1.6 miles of hike. It gets pretty hot in evergreen, San Jose after 10am and gets more hot until 6.30pm. View of Evergreen Neighborhood and San Jose downtown is decent from the top of hill. The entrance of the hike from Evergreen Silicon valley college has a pretty stiff hike of about 0.15 Mile, which can challenge you. Apart from that, its a short hike for a pleasant morning or evening if youre near by Evergreen area. No wildlife, Not much greenery as such.

Nested in the southeast end of east San Jose. It is an open space next to Evergreen Valley College. Early morning or late afternoon when the sun is not intense, one can breath the breeze and enjoy the vast area of crest hill. There is not much big trees to provide shades. Hikers should bring hats, sunscreen lotions, water if weather is hot. It is a little chilly in the morning or late afternoon. However, it is best time to watch sunrise or sunset. Trail near the solar farm has several fruit trees. There are several entrances to the hill, just look at Google map to pick a starting point. Warning, there is no restroom facility, no water fountain.

Montgomery Hill Park is a large neighborhood park that offers walking trails and elevated scenic views over the city of San Jose all the way to San Francisco to the north and to the eastern foothills to the east. The park is the former site where aviation pioneer John Joseph Montgomery made history in the development of aircraft design and flight controls in a number of his gliders. One of which is on display in the San Diego Air and Space Museum and formerly hung in entry of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. You may see motorized hang gliders taking advantage of the very same favorable breezes and updrafts upon which Montgomery was able to lift his gliders up and around the area. The park is characterized by being mostly open with but a few eucalyptus trees on the ridge lines and the remnants of long-defunct orchards on its eastern flank. Spring is the best time to visit when the grass is tall and green and wild mustard turns the slopes a brilliant yellow. Because of the exposure and lack of shade, its best to avoid visiting in summer afternoons.Early morning visitors may catch glorious sunrises or the atmospheric phenomenon of clouds hugging the hilltops and diffusing the light and scenery reminiscent of Japanese paintings.Access to the park is from all sides. Parking is available at Evergreen College on weekends or at the eastern trailhead access along Yerba Buena Road.

Wide trails with all kinds of inclines and declines in a smallish area. Easy to do at least 4 miles of up and down in an hour, jogging or hiking. Would be great if the city added a water station.

Montgomery Hill Park is our familys fave neighborhood haunt for hiking and mountain biking prep. There are write-ups about the history of the hill and Montgomery. We love the views from this hill. During the rainy season we have casted tracks for dogs, bobcat, raccoon, deer, and a track that looks like a mountain lion track. People have been quite gracious and did not bother the casts while we left them overnight to dry. Just a heads up there are no facilities here.

I am so grateful to have this park at my neighborhood, where I enjoy jogging or hiking there anytime of the day . But I have to admit the sunset there is always the best! When the sun sinks down behind the mountain at the west and Bay Area in front is bathed in the orange glow, the view is breathtaking.

Kind of wide open and exposed. Plenty of up and down with benched areas to rest at internals. No facilities and the day I was there a school group of kids came thru on bicycles. Surrounding views of the neighborhood and some territorial.

Great spot to walk up and relax. There are some benches on the hill which offer a nice view. I found it to be fairly clean with little litter along the paths which makes for a more pleasant walk. The hills look great along spring time but when summer rolls around, everything dries out.

Very scenic route, well maintained and good intensity workout towards the up and down hillside. Lots of families with kids and pets are noticed enjoying this park which has famous historical ties being a gliding campsite. The reason I gave four stars is because : Only thing missing is shade, does not have trees along the way. Otherwise it is a gem !

Re
Review №51

Its very nice to after it rains because the grass grows nice and green. Its very clam taking a walk here because its very isolated and far from the city. Theres a couple critters around as well such as ground squirrels and some birds. I recommend coming here after class if you go to the school right next to it as well. Good way to destress yourself or induce creative imagination if you are an art major.

Best walking/jogging trail in San Jose that I know of. From easier crests to very steep climbs, theres something for everyone. A perfect place to go for a walk. Just make sure that if you go in the summer that you get there at around 9:00 am, because at around 10 it really starts to heat up.
