Well kept up & maintained. Its a beautiful park with volleyball pits, playgrounds (appear to be open), basketball (half court I believe) & access to a lake which is rumored to have some large fish. Cant confirm as Ive never caught anything there .

I was only here briefly to meet someone to look at a car, and brought my dog the next day just to walk. Its November and chilly but there were several people walking their animals. The lake is lovely, theres a playground and some trails and a picnic area. Bathrooms were open and are located at the parking lot. We didnt stay long but it was very pleasant. I imagine its quite nice, especially for the kids in summer. I know you used to be able to swim there and there is a nice large beach. I assume you can still do that , but not absolutely sure.

Well, lets see . . . beautiful little lake, lots of shade and vegetation, and a cute creek that runs along the paved path, which leads into a naturally occurring and continuous loop. Although a bit crowded after 10am, its perfect for a stroll with friends, that is if the ultimate goal is to enjoy an easy no-nonsense ride.

This place is popular and therefore more crowded when the weather is good. Luckily, the paths are wide and allow for reasonable physical distancing; plus, the upside of so many people being there is all the dogs that come with them! A good place to go for a long walk on mostly even pavement, and not as crowded if you happen to go at an off time.

We dont walk around the lake. We hike up the hill across the street where the communication tower is. The incline and partially paved slope gives you a challenge. And if your up for it you can try going up a few times.

Crowded, peppered with Chads and Karens, but overall pleasant. Some people fish here, but you cant swim because theres mercury in the water.

Review №15

A pretty view with the water and great wildlife, tons of squirrels and geese all around the sides of the trails and you can always find people fishing here too. Only downside of the wildlife is that the geese have been exposed to human interaction and being fed so they can be quite aggressive, and their poop is literally on every square inch of the park. But if youre not irked out by geese poop then this place is a solid spot!!

We intended to walk expecting to enjoy a cool walk under the trees by the lake. Instead there was no breeze, the park locked the air under the hills. And where were the trees? The city is reworking the park. Lets hope they thought about walking Pats in the shade.

Too busy for COVID-19 and people will setup almost on top of you. People have also trained the geese that you have food for them so they harass you for a bit and return anytime they hear some crinkle similar to food packaging. Otherwise if youre interested in walking around the lake its a nice place to walk.

GREAT location for family. The Canadian Geese are there & the children are do happy to be out running. The adults looked relaxedvecause the children were running off their energy. This COVID-19 has made 2020 a very depressing scary year. Now that the parks allow us to enjoy them .... they have restored faith & hope just by being outside. The majority of the people had masks on but everyone was social distancing. Thank you Almaden Lake Park for your beauty and relaxing atmosphere. I got a sence of Peace while I was there.

Fantastic big park in San Jose. What we like the most is it being within the city. It is very famous for parties. The day we went there were like five parties, plus a big event with stage and about ten lunch carts lining up for it. The picinc / party area had a reservation notes on them. Parking is a inside the park, using the automated machines if booth is unattended it costs six dollars. Or you can just park o the streets outside for free. The park is divided I to two sections one of which is considered a wild life sanctuary, hense no dogs are allowed. It features a small 3 minutes loop also. However there are two trails in the park on is about 4 miles connecting it to another park. And a one mile loop as well. Lots of activities are offered in this park. Boating is one, pedal boating. I would call to check on these since we are I drought time. However, man people were fishing. There are big grassy areas. In the sanctuary area there is a play ground for kids to enjoy. Restrooms are OK. Benshs are available surrounding the lake. To enjoy the nice view. Lots of picture opportunities, there is a metal bridge on top of a creek that allows for nice pictures, at the end of the paved road, great for biking by the way, nice views also of the main lake, or where it kinda narrows down and winds away. Atop the very short loop you can get nice views or just sit on the bench there and enjoy it. Just walking around the lake you can catch very picturistic views of the lake with a nice island in the middle and different kinds of birds. We were very lucky to get some pictures of a big fish swinging almost on the surface of the water. Overall, great park, lots of activities to enjoy. Without much traveling.

I have been to this park several times and I have been enjoying it. Today is the fort time since the Covid-19 outbreak. More than half of visitors ignore the mandatory mask requirements, even one of the staff who whoa taping the picnic area failed to wear a mask. Please be aware when you visit the park. I don’t recommend it during this pandemic.

Nice big Park with huge Lake that people were fishing in, lots of ducks that people were illegally feeding, places to play volleyball, horseshoe and lots of land to run around. Nice playground for kids and there are some sections of the park that you can reserve for a fee. Parking costs $6 and you pay via machine.

I just really like getting some sun here. Fun to walk around the lake and look at geese and ducks. Heres no shade for the park playgrounds so in the summer it can feel pretty hot. And no one swims in the lake. People do fish but they are toxic. On the Coleman side the parking is free.

In the early 80s we used to drive Down Almaden to L. on Greystone where you could cross a shallow creek with your car, then a STEEP HILLCLIMB, PARK AND What a View it was, The party was on. Soon bull dossers came in and created Coleman Ave & this beautiful Lake. High dive off the Coleman Overpass a couple Bonfires under it below. Soon paddle boats, BBQs, Snack Bar, Beach Swimming Lanes. The face of this park keeps changing as does the people who enjoy it. Almost 40 years later I a bike ride on the trail to this park, 4th of July, is AWSOME here and the families smiling and loving one another. I hope modern sprawl doesnt affect her.,

Nice, flat walk around the lake with many picnic benches around. They are are doing some work around the trail so you cant follow it all the way around. At one point you have to cross a street to get back onto the trail which is a little confusing. When I went the water quality was poor so no water activities were allowed. In the neighborhood near the lake there are signs saying to save the lake - it appears that there is a movement to fill it in.
