We’ve been to Violet Sea Fish and Coral twice. They have a huge selection! Being in there was like a kid being in candy store. Paul is exceptionally knowledgeable, and gave me some tips and pointers. My wife and I were really happy with the customer service he provided as well as our purchases. Will definitely be coming by more often!

They moved to a bigger place here. Staff is knowledgeable, and there’s a wide selection of saltwater fish. They are still building out the site, and I’m confident to say that soon they’ll be the largest saltwater aquarium in South Bay.

I don’t write many reviews but if you want saltwater fish, this is the place to go!! They have fish I’ve only seen in videos and their prices are great! They are building coral frag tanks so the selection there isn’t huge yet, but it is going to grow exponentially over the coming months. Small place but amazing selection and diversity.

I visited the new location about 3-4 times in the past few months. I love how the shop is coming along. Madhu, Paul and all the employees are doing a great job in building a brand new reef store.Madhu and Paul are exceptionally great. There was a fish I was looking to purchase and they told me the pros and cons of owning that fish and gave me the information to make a decision on what to do. There are reef shops out there that will just sell the fish to you just to get a sale.If you are searching for top shelf reef fish, I highly recommend visiting Violet Sea Fish and Coral.

No one wears masks in the store, sold me fish after telling them what was in my tank said they would all get along, the puffer killed one of my clowns I had to get rid of my other out of fear for its life also. It ate all my mushrooms and bubble coral. I asked them about it when I went back in and they laughed. Very unprofessional. Weve spent hundreds here only to have it all ruined by one fish. He also sold me an emperor angel after telling him I only had a 40 gallon tank. Recently found out itll outgrow my tank sooner than I can buy a new one. Hes almost completely ruined salt water tanks for me after getting so much misinformation.

This is the right place to buy fish coral and also invertebrates. They have a lot of fish in their tank super healthy and all fish eating. The owner and the Staff is very helpful.

Have been buying online from Violet Sea Fish and Coral, and fish comes disease free. When I bought from other places local here they wiped out my tank due to disease. I have had great success with this place. Will buy again. Wont buy from any other place as Im afraid of my tank full of fish getting wiped out due to disease.Thanks Violet Sea!

This is a new location from what i understand. The young man was extremely helpful and patient with us as i am new to the salt water world. Cant wait to see this store when its set up is completed as it already blows others away in the area. Will be back for sure.

Before I found this store, I had already ordered a large 600-gallon saltwater tank from another store to upgrade from my older 150 gallon tank. They made mistakes with my order, e.g., overflow and wrong size holes, etc., which stressed me out enormously, as I realized my project was going to be a major undertaking and needed professional help.When I started talking to couple of stores to help me set it up, they were not willing to help since I did not purchase from them. Some did not want to help as it was plexiglass tank, and one said they cannot work unless it was at least $60K project.At that time, someone mentioned Madhu at Violet Sea Fish and Coral, and I paid him a visit. I was impressed by his knowledge, and how helpful and informative he was. When I mentioned my dilemma, he offered to make 60-mile trip to my house to setup my tank and asked all the details and pictures of my tank. When he came with Paul, he was fully prepared with needed tools and supplies and finished the project in one day. They both were highly informative, thorough, and professional. Madhu explained all the work done and gave all info for me to manage the setup going forward.When he left, I was extremely comfortable with my fish tank. Since then I have visited his store Violet Sea Fish and Coral multiple times. He has amazing collection of fish and corals which I did not find in other stores. They look fresh and healthy and offered at very reasonable price.I am incredibly lucky to have met Madhu and Paul. My husband Chris and I just discovered this hidden gem! Itll probably be our new go-to LFS (well, not so local since we drive up from Gilroy lol); their selection of livestock/corals is 2nd to none, and prices are very reasonable. They have a good selection of fish. They are also very patient. I selected a wrong fish but they happily unbagged it and gave me enough time to select another.

I discovered Violet Sea Fish and Coral a couple months ago when they moved to a new location across from Santa Clara University. Madhu and Paul are very friendly, knowledgeable and provide excellent service. The front retail store is well stocked with large healthy marine fish. The back is a huge commercial area, being expanded with new tanks, with the highest quality of international corals. I have been in the hobby for over 30 years, currently have a 125 gallon marine fish, soft coral and LPS tank. Trust me, because of the care and quarantine methods to have the healthiest fish, this is the number one store in the Bay Area. This is only place I would buy my fish and invertebrates to date including a rose colored bubble tip anemone, blue tang, powdered blue tang, yellow tang, gold stripe maroon clownfish, and a mated pair of oscellaris clownfish.

I can’t say enough how I love this store. All my fish and corals came from them and they are all thriving. I read some reviews that their corals or fish are not healthy but that really depends on how you acclimate them. Anyhow, service, knowledge, and prices are great here, the whole shabang. Owner Madhu is super knowledgeable about his fish, while Paul is your man when you have questions about corals. This man is a walking encyclopedia for corals. Both of them are great anyway!!I also heard in the great vines that they are moving to a bigger place and I cannot wait. If I could spend all day just to chill, observe, and converse with the employees here I would. They are such accomodating people. Oh not to mention, they always have sales going on so wait for those emails!I always feel welcome when I visit this store whether you are buying or not. This is my favorite place to get coral. The prices are amazing and their products are high quality. Even though I get my stuff shipped to me from them, they still come in amazing condition. Great place for coral and fish. Love it!!!!

Paul is great, very eager and had lots of helpful tips for me when I came by for the first time. Showed me how to siphon without getting water in my mouth. Lots of great corals with the best prices I’ve seen around, definitely check this place out.

I absolutely love this place. After much research we came across this place online in search of help making the switch from fresh water to salt water. When I came in I was greeted with a smile by a man named Paul. He was soooo helpful and you could tell that he genuinely cared and took pride in both his job and in helping me as a costumer. I had a bunch of questions about setting up my tank (after a bad experience at another fish store in the area) Paul was a life saver. He walked me step by step in the process of getting my tank setup. After taking his advice and making the changes I saw a big beautiful change in my tank as I watched it come to life. Im happy to report I have now been back multiple times to this store and Paul is still always happy to help and will always take time to explain things and help me pick out the right fish and coral for my tank. Theres a lot of stores out there that will not give the personal attention to detail like this store does. I absolutely recommend this place and when you go in ask for Paul. Im happy report that both my fish, water, and coral were purchased from here and all livestock has remained happy and healthy and my tank is striving thanks to Paul. Violet Sea Fish and Coral sells very healthy fish. Always have good luck with their fish whether buying at Coral Reef Farmer’s Market or online, the 4 fish total I have bought from him have all been very healthy.Much appreciated, and he is super knowledgeable and always answers any questions I have about any fish stuff in a timely manner. I would highly recommend buying from him. Not to mention, his prices are really fair and reasonable for such healthy fish.

This place is horrible prices on coral are about 3 times what they should be

If I can give a 0 star I would. Horrible service and very rude. They didn’t warn me about the nitrogen cycle or asked me about my fish tank in which was very important before purchasing it. The person there didn’t seem to know what he was doing. When we arrived he was smoking outside and when we got off he went inside and started “cleaning.” He didn’t seem to know much about fish when we asked him questions. I then proceeded to purchase a Picasso clownfish in which then I went to another fish aquarium store and they told me I should return the fish since it will die in 3 weeks because of the nitrogen cycle. I called and the guy there was very rude. He was yelling and contradicting himself. NEVER AGAIN PURCHASING THERE AGAIN.UPDATE- yesterday my Picasso fish passed away. THE OWNER WHICH IS THAT SAME GUY RESPONDED HE WAS THE ONE WHO ATTENDED ME. AS HIA WORDS SAID, “IF YOUR FISH DIES WITHIN 36 hours. Take a video. 30 sec and show me for full refund.

I just happened to see this store on my lunch break today, and I have to say I am quite impressed for a store that has only been open for 2-3 months. They have a very good selection of salt water fish (one of the bests I’ve seen so far in the Bay Area). The fish looked healthy and vibrant, the manager was very friendly, and they look like they are setting up tanks to expand their coral selection. (They had very healthy looking SPS corals, which is very promising and quite impressive for a new store). I’m very much looking forward to coming back and buying stuff.

All around great people to do business with. It was only my second time ordering livestock online and I couldnt have been happier with the outcome. If I have the opportunity to order again, I definitely will.

Amazing selection of fish

Bought a fish from here the price 8 dollars more expensive than petco. Owner of this store said fish from petco not good. Guess what, the fish i bought from him did not eat anything. I told him the fish did not eat i want to exchange different one. He said no exchange. now the fish is dead. I wish i bought the fish from petco so i can return it. I swear, i never come here to buy anything from this guy.11:00 PM 2/22/2019 I can’t believe the owner texted me said that i abused the fish, how can i abuse the fish? by hitting the fish? yelling, cursing at them?. I bought 3 fish from him at time same time but i told him only one did not eat. I can’t believe he texted me and said i will not allow you to come to my store. Is he out of his mind now? did he really think that i will come back to buy sick fish from him? He gets mad because this bad feedback. I have to block his number to prevent him to text and bother me. Fore sure this is not american way of service.For sure i did not know if i can’t exchange. i get exchanged one time when he still sold fish at his home. That’s why i think he would do the same when he moved to store. Let me tell you this. It’s super duper funny when u texted me and said im not allow to your store. Sorry, even u give me money and beg me to come to your store, do you really think i will come to your store?. Sorry just a fish u make me feel like i can’t live without fish or something. It’s so funny when u texted ur customer and argue with them. Please DO NOT bother me. You deserved my feedback. Great Place to Shop for coral and fish. Store is part setup as major tank setup construction is taking place, but what they have is awesome now. Knowledgeable and nice guys! It will be my goto place for corals.

The most important thing to me when I visit an aquarium store and ultimately when I buy something is the health of the animals. Everything I have brought home form Violet Sea has done very, very well, even a powder blue tang which can be finicky. All of my fish are healthy and eating voraciously.
