On hot and sunny day, I rode my bike because it was nice out and I needed the exercise. Plenty of people were out enjoying the sun. I observed 95 percent of the people wore masks. Others were kids and people eating (outdoors). Stay safe!

If I could put no stars I would. My family and I came to San Francisco from Louisiana specifically to go and tour Alcatraz. I bought tickets ($39/each) from Alcatraz Cruises, Took the boat to the island only to be told once we got there that we could not tour inside anywhere. We could only walk around the prison on the street. It was terrible! So very disappointing! When I complained to the Alcatraz workers that it was false advertising because had I known we could not tour anything I would have never booked the tour. They agreed and told me to complain to Alcatraz Tours when I got back to the dock. I did and of course they did nothing but give me a survey card! They should not be charging full price for a tour that you cannot do! I would not recommend this company. They are a rip off!

The elcatraz cruise was nice and the return trips from the island were frequent enough. Please do note that if the tickets are sold out(which they usually are) boarding on a different time than is written in your ticket is not possible which was kind of a bummer for us because we bought the tickets months in advance and couldnt possibly predict the exact time wed be there. Other than that, recommended.

This was a nice pier. You buy your tickets at the booth and then queue. You then show the person at the desk your ticket when you queue and just before you bored. I would get in queue about 40 minutes before your boat departs in order to get a good view.

They are the only ferry company who can dock at Alcatraz. Buy tickets directly from their website few days ahead as they sell out quickly. Its worth paying visit to Alcatraz island lots of history and fun facts.

If your in SFO this is one of the place to visit .Great experience, friendly environment, well organized, amazing diorama along with pertinent and fascinating information and overall excellent for getting enough interest to take the tour to Alcatraz Island. I may also add that is definitely worth the trip as well! One of the must visit place wit friends and family

Very nice place to be before heading to Alcatraz and the location is really nice it’s near pier 39 so you can always grab a bite to drink I hope this review was helpful and I’ll add some pictures I took here to show some of the Alcatraz model. Also the line isn’t that bad. It’s actually quite short so this means you don’t even have to wait in line for long so instead instead you could walk up to pier 39 and get something nice to eat or you can just stay we’re you are and grab a bite to eat at one of the cafes.

Who doesnt love watching a pier full of seals while you drink ice tea and eat fried calamari n savor a clam chowder bread bowl? It was a truly LOVELY day! Perfect weather, Great company, seals n all! Lol

Very nice area. This place is loaded with places to shop and eat. The backdrop of the bay just makes it that much better. There are several paid parking lots nearby so parking is not a problem. There is also a street trolley that runs the length of the pier..

Ive been a number of times and everything is so well done. This year we also got the added bonus of watching the Blue Angels. It was a great day!

Not much can be said. I was standing in line waiting to cross to Alcatraz. There some great views and the boat ride was enjoyable. Really windy though so be prepared.

So much to see. Make sure you wear sneakers for lots of walking. Great scenery for picture moments. Not many bathrooms though so makes for long lines.

Book your Alcatraz tickets as early as possible, it sells out weeks in advance for the time you probably want, and dont think about trying to get something day of, unless youre lucky. Alcatraz is second most popular visitors destination in SFO. I definitely suggest that you try to be there during one of the two daily opening and closing of the cells. I was there for the 2pm, and I think the other one was at 5pm. Its really cool to hear the guy call out Rack em, and then you see the jail doors open/close and hear the clang.

A must see! The gateway to Alcatraz and the center of many fun spots. By the way....get the Bacon Burger at the Alcatraz Cafe!! VERY DELICIOUS!!

Very good place and nice environment. They do have restroom for public. Pier 33 we can get to line for alctraz cruise. Be there at least 1 hour early. They do check tickets or your cell phone if u dont have paper ticket with you. You can walk to another pier too. Parking is not free. Overall good experience.

Charming, so many lovely shops and restaurants and of course beautiful views and sealions.

Its just a fun and beautiful place to visit. Got a leather jacket at one of the shops there and the sea lions are just amazing, nice carousel ride too.

Me and my wife were in San Francisco on holiday in November 2018there is a cafe on pier 33 we called in 3 times there is seating outside were you can watch the boats set off over to Alcatraz or going to view the Golden gate bridgeAnd the gift shop is a place you will like looking around the staff in the cafe gift shop + pier 33 are really friendly and anything you need to know they are happy to help

Fun for the whole family. A safe area in San Francisco. Not necessarily a very local place, but lots of tourist attractions with beautiful views of the skyline, the bay, and of Alcatraz. Very chilly, even in the summer so bring a jacket!

A place that have to be visited when you come to San Francisco! Great place to eat and have some fun!

Serves its purpose! Waiting to go to Alcatraz! They have bathrooms, a snack vendor (think pretzels and hot dogs) and a cafe where you can get things to go. But finish before boarding! All that is allowed on the island is a bottle of water. Great trip!

Over touristic place with very little good on it

Loved the pier area, but this is where to leave for Alcatraz! Book it well in advance for your trip!

Great walking experience. If you have the time Id recommend renting an electric bike! Or scooter! Gets you places faster. There is always parking here too! The atmosphere around the area is very clean I honestly saw little to no trash

After our Alcatraz tour (excellent tour !) we proceeded to eat at Pier 33 wow what a great place to go all sorts of restaurants available everywhere never ending in all directions good luck in trying to choose one they all great . It’s a great area atmosphere is awesome full of life for sure. *correction my review was for Pier 39 there is a great difference from Pier 33 and Pier 39 walk over ( significant distance) to Pier 39 , Pier 33 is were you head out to board your ferry to head out to Alcatraz

Great audio tour. Hard to imagine what it would be like to do time. Amazing tales of escape attempts. Fresh water available to refill your bottles.

Lots of different souvenir stores, you will have a good time walking around this area, there are multiple things to see. Great place to spend an afternoon (if not raining).

Most staff were great! But a few give off the air of not wanting you to be there. Layout is simple and they get you on and off the boat quickly. The Alcatraz tour is absolutely stunning and a must have experience.

The way to Alcatraz. Please make sure to book your Alcatraz tickets a month in advance as they sell out very fast. If they were though you can always buy package tickets with other tours. They are available from (City site seeing) If im not mistaken.

If you have the funds, I highly recommend the Pedicab! Alejandro from Colombia gave us a lift to the restaurant, left us his card, then came back to get us after dinner! $20 per ride for a modernized rickshaw ride on the Embarcadero! Fantastic!

Its not just Fishermans wharf but that whole strip of waterfront that is chock full of special activities, venues, dining, and shopping opportunities. Set aside the whole day and plan accordingly. A must for casual sightseers and discerning travelers alike. Ample parking or take the streetcars!

This is one very busy place. Beautiful water views. People are every where here. Please if you have children hold on to them tight. This is one place I would not let them go. You have restaurants up and down the boardwalk. You have side vendors. Once in a lifetime chance maybe just go see it.

Sea lions were noisy, smelly and awesome. It was easy to park near and cheaper if you booked online.

Hop on Hop off was so good that I have to do it twice. Golden Gate Bridge was amazing and the driver was super. Going for the Sausalito part tomorrow!
