The happy hour -- Battle of the Decades on Friday is a blast. it starts early so there is parking, 6pm. The drinks start at $1 and there is a taco truck. no cover most fridays. people start dancing around 8pm and it usually gets crazy by 9pm. super easy, no dress code, just fun thing to start the weekend. i recommend it!

We found out about this bar on our Virgin Atlantic city guide on the flight to SF. They recommended the Sunday Brunch Cabaret. It was a great recommendation. A must if you are in town on Sunday. The bar is perfectly decorated for cabaret. The brunch buffet is very good and served an hour before cabaret so you can finish eating before the start, if you want. There is plenty of choice and you wont go hungry. The cocktails are also very good. The drag cabaret funny, interactive and slick. Prepare to be entertained.

I came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is awesome. Theyve got a tiny bar in front and then you walk through a narrow passageway to the bigger room in the back. Theyve got the room to feel like an outdoor patio, bunch of tables, some high-tops and a bar.

Starlight room was re-vamped and got a new face and feel. But, I miss the old Starlight Room San Francisco charm: solid dance floor, cute regulars, fun bartender chats. Now the old charms all vanished, leaving us with this awkward cheap feel.

The first night we tried it was closed for a private event until later. The next night we had more luck, and because we went early (930 ish) we didnt have to pay cover and we got a table by the window. My wife had a delicious cocktail (devine something), was dessert but with booze. Music was great, although the DJ hadnt started yet. Cool atmosphere and amazing views of the city. As an added bonus, we watched the fireworks above the ball field. Unfortunately our table was stolen when we went to go back, but we were leaving anyway. Would be a really fun place to spend a whole night dancing. Mixed crowd, so we didnt feel too old, which is nice. Well worth checking out!

We went last night, a Friday night. We were a party of fifteen celebrating a Friends Birthday. The cocktails were quite good. The Staff were okay.I struggled with the DJ most of all, hence the 3 star review. He would play one or two good songs and then several that you could hardly dance to. People were standing around talking in the dance floor and for a group of Friends who love to dance, this was hard for us. Several groups left earlier than us.The Starlight Room being in a Kimpton Hotel, a plus for dog owners like myself. We saw a couple with their dog enjoying their drinks, the views and the music.

What a great place for a quick bite to eat. On the top Floor . Theres a dance floor with the best views of the City. This is definitely a must do! if you love to dance on a Friday night. Make sure you get in before 10 p.m so you can try the food apps. All so good!!! Salman sliders are the best!! And the chips are so good! Even there hot wings. I just wanted to order two of everything off the menu.

I used to love this place - one of may favorite all are welcome night out locations in SF, with a stellar view. Recently they remodeled (nice) and rebranded as Lizzies Starlight, and unfortunately the new swanky decor seems to have come with a snobby attitude. Its rare for me to be negative on a place, but between the no, all seating is reserved only now and the barman who got testy that we were in his way when we tried to pull one more stool near the bar, it just wasnt a fun location to spend a weekend night any more. The attitude from several staff reminded me of those clubs which make you line up just so they can be selective on who gets in.Great to see the revamped decor but really disappointed with the snobby unwelcoming attitude (its truly rare for me to write such a negative review - but it was a pretty disappointing experience from a place I used to love).

Such a great view of Union Square at night, especially at Christmas time. The servers definitely tried their best to be prompt and to not missing orders, but its a pretty busy weekend before Christmas. We were happy and adequately lubricated by alcohol so we didnt care that much when they forgot our order. The only annoying part is when a group blocked the most prime spot viewing area and just hung out there for a very long time.

Review №13

Dont come for the view because the windows were all completely fogged up. The clientele was on the seedy side, with guys refusing to take no for an answer. Music fairly mediocre, we left within 15 minutes after paying the $10 cover - a complete waste. The coat lady literally never uttered one word not cracked a smile. The place feels very meat market-like from the seventies with rows of guys against the windows checking out the action and a disco ball above. The downstairs bathroom area was deserted on a Saturday night but the Art Deco architecture is worth a look.

I wanted to take my mom out dancing, since she rarely comes to the Bay area. This place was fairly seedy. The people dancing were generally fairly creepy, and wouldnt take no for an answer. The staff was courteous, if disinterested. I would absolutely not recommend. The stellar views they lost of werent even visible because of the condensation on the windows.

Went in around 11 PM. Good music and excellent staff. Highly recommended. However the general poor condition of the streets in the Union Square area is a concern. The street outside is filthy and you may likely be confronted by beggars or otherwise smell urine and human waste. The beggars may insult you or your family if you do not give. Also while walking through Union Square on the way a group of youths intentionally bumped us, and one pretended he was going to throw a chair from a closed cafe at us. We could only keep walking and hoped to be left alone.Stay safe, suggest to not walk around the area in the evening. No police were seen, seems the city government is overwhelmed. Stay away completely, or travel in a vehicle point to point.

I had an hour to kill before a play and had never been here before. I wanted to like the place but was disappointed. It is, essentially, a dive bar. The drinks were overpriced, the bartender was surly, there was rap music playing over the sound system where every other word was cursing. Most if the bar was closed off for some reason. There was a piano, but no one playing. The one window looking over the City was so filthy you couldnt see out of it. I definitely will not return. There are just so many better options in SF for drinks.

Really nice, upscale place. Took my wife here for Sundays a drag show. The show was spectacular and the buffet was full of great foods. I,m normally not a fan of buffets as the food tends to sit out for a while, but the buffet is made special for the show so that wasnt a problem. My only complaint was the room temperature. They have a strict dress code (that isnt enforced), but I wore a button up shirt and a jacket, and was a bit uncomfortable. A little air conditioning could really help.

The place looks like it needs renovation and it wasn’t clean either even though the rest of the hotel looks great and is well kept. The dj was all over the place and would jump from one song to another every 10 seconds and then switches to a totally different type of music so you couldn’t really get into it.

My roommate had her birthday brunch here (for the Sundays a Drag show) and I thought it was a great way to celebrate! The buffet brunch had a good selection. There was bacon, salads, eggs benedict, potatoes, an omelet station, and mini pastries. The drinks, unfortunately, were not a part of the deal. The average price of a cocktail was $11.And I thought the ladies rocked the show! I wish it was longer. As the hostess said, theyve been doing the show for 8 years so theyre doing something right.I should mention that there were 13 of us, so we were charged with a 23% service fee. I thought the standard was 18% for parties over 6... we didnt question it. I do recommend this place, but be sure you have about 4 in your party.
