A hidden little walkway, accessible by wooden steps at one end, this is a delightful spot to pass through.It also has history, having inspired the famous Barbary Lane from Armistead Maupins Tales of the City.Well worth a visit ( not far from the cable car - take the Powell-Mason).

So great finally getting to see the Barbary Lane I loved so much from books and film. Almost thought I might bump into Mrs Madrigal, or Michael Toliver. Lived up to expectations.

Hidden, peaceful lane full of vegetation, Victorian architecture, and a Buddha waterfall

The takes of the city staircase is right there. Come and immerse yourself in the experience and gain a second one at the top of the stairs. Instead of the home we all know you wish discover an amazing historical footpath with numerous properties along it. A very beautiful walk, setting and definitely worth a visit.

Check out this hideaway but be respectful of the residents.

Russia Hill-Macondray Lane Historic District

Watched Tale of a City and wanted to see Barbary Lane. Very nice, peaceful and quiet. Also great views and landscaping. It is not exactly as in the Netflix series; however, very nice location

I love this road especially because it is related with one of my favourite series Tales of the city.

Great view of Alcatraz Bay Area, nice neighbourhood , particular and historical houses, the famous stairs represent a plus if you are a fan of the tv series Tales of the City. Amazing.
