Although the staff was nice. Prices are too high for entrance and food. Drinks at the vending machine are$3.00 for a 20 oz drink!!!!! It doesnt end there... You have to purchase glow lights to be able to skate the glow light game. $3.00 for each little $1 glow toy what happened to the website? No prices listed as well

My daughter chose skating for her 13th birthday, and this location was SO accommodating. The facility was very clean and well-run, and the staff was very friendly and inviting. I appreciate the way we were treated on my daughters special day.

It was super fun, it was colorful in there, you can choose songs to play, the snacks are awesome and the nachos absolutely SLAP. Really sets a good retro vibe. Youll have a good time and even possibly meet new people.

I used to go to this place growing up ALOT! I love taking my kids here but.... we tried to go recently and we had to leave cause I think its NUTS you have to pay for a baby to go. Im not going to pay $12 for my daughter to sit in her stroller and do nothing but breathe up Skateland air. If she was going to skate(which she cant) I understand but an infant? Babies are free everywhere but here. Not family friendly to me.

Good equipment, the skates are in good working order. They have little helper walkers that you can rent for $10, more than the price to skate. Take cash for concessions, they wont run a charge for less than $5. But aside from that, the music is awesome and my kids and their friends had a blast.

It is exactly what one would expect from a Skating Rink. The majority of customers are from Middleschool to Highschool age. The selection of snacks and drinks is decent and the rink has a jukebox with a wide selection of music. Come if you want a quick, fun skating experience.

I have been coming here forever! I absolutely love this place! The employees and managers are incredibly nice and incessantly respectful towards all customers! The snack prices are also good compared to other businesses, would totally recommend this place.

This place is very fun to go to and especially the workers this one short worker her name was Sam i think and Hopefully she still works there she was super helpful to me and my kids and super sweet!!

The facility itself wasnt completely bad but the owners customer service skills or lack there of were absolutely awful. We paid to get if 4 people then quickly realized that our little granddaughter would not be able to use the regular skates since they spin too quickly. We asked for the plastic kids shoe skates and they asked for 5 extra dollars then every lap we did they came apart we exchanges them again it happened over and over. We asked if we could just exchange them for one of the rolling carts to help the kids stay up. She then said for an extra 5$ you can. We explained we already paid the 5$ for the skates that didnt work, and weve spent 30 min trying to find a pair to work and she just repeated herself asking for the 5$. Anyone with customer service skill would have said Im so sorry for the inconvenience how about we just trade them for this cart (even though she charges 10$ for it) and I hope you all have a good time. Not this lady she walked into the office grabbed a 5$ bill came out and slammed it on the counter. Hope that 5$ was worth a family of 7 not returning.

The lady at the front was SO incredibly helpful and sweet, she even let us the roller skating assistant for my young daughters, so amazing Ill definitely be back!

Very friendly staff, fun time for skaters. Handicap parking is available. However, restrooms are not handicap accessible. No doors either, separated by a wall only. Probably not an issue for skaters, but for handicap/disabled parents, it is.

I checked the review prior and it was exactly how it was described. We went to take advantage of the $5 cover for Thursday. They had good music and nice lights. It was hot and they had two fans but it seemed the air was not on. The water fountain is still broken. The place had a weird smell. This place should invest in itself. I know its in the hood but they should value themselves and the community they serve better. We have been to several skate locations in San Antonio this one is poorly maintained. The owner needs to fix it up. The things that are wrong could be fixed. Replace what needs to be replaced. Put some pride and love in to it or sell it. Just my two cents.Reply: to the owner. You are very defensive. Your response is very telling. People will see it also.

Me and my kids really enjoyed ourselves, the staff was a delight. My kids thought the lady who gave us our tickets when we came looked mean tho . Only reason I didn’t give five stars was because my daughter tried skates and at first (she did skate in them first) she was fine then was like they hurt and they wouldn’t trade them for a bigger size. Second the vending machine took and didn’t release the money from us. Third the water fountain didn’t work and there was no way for my daughter and her friend to get anything to drink unless we paid for something. She asked for a cup of water and they were like we don’t do that here. And they didn’t have any pizza or hot dogs the whole time we were here so limited options for food also. Which is odd considering they don’t allow outside food. Been waiting to see when they were gonna put out pizza and hot dogs... and it didn’t happen...

We had the most expensive birthday package for my younger brothers birthday party this evening..decided to finish the party at home. For 10+ kids we received two pitchers of drinks and when we asked to get the water refilled because we had a large group the woman working told us it would be $8 for a pitcher of water. These people don’t have a working water fountain or we would’ve just filled it up, personally I think it’s wrong for a company to deny somebody water! Especially as we had the most expensive birthday package, and my family had been coming to this skate rink almost 20 years! Staff was extremely rude to the younger kids at the skate rental counter and it seemed like nobody working had a positive attitude. Skates were disgusting as well as floor. Do NOT RECOMMEND. Last year we had his party here and it was NOT like this. We were supposed to stay until 8, but left at 4ish. If I could give a zero star I would! AC DOESNT WORK. And didn’t give us the ice cream we bought. Would be cheaper to pay your water bill than come here for an hour and get water for you and a few friends.

This place is TRASH! Do NOT come here. The management is terrible and customer service is AWFUL! Also, business ethics are lacking. We had a Groupon that was Not expired and yet when I took off work and drove 30 minutes to redeem it with my younger sibling they refused to accept it claiming “they no longer accept Groupon”. Classic case of false advertising and clickbait. Any decent establishment would honor their promotions even if they no longer are affiliated with Groupon.

2nd review...I was hoping to put a better review from my last one I posted 4 months ago. The water fountain was broken, snack bar and vending machine way over price for what it’s worth. The kiddos had a good time, With that said there was an incident where I wanted my husband and son to come in before we left to see our daughter learned to skate and my husband had to pay $11 for our son to only watch our daughter skate for a minute. We got off floor and when I approach the supervisor about it, she was quick to say “ No refunds “ but offered a pass to come back...Seriously! The last negative post was to the really rude Kids that work and hang out here but after today, I can see why the young employees are rude! FYI...the pass I got it’s just a piece of paper from notepad that was hand written with an expiration date Ridiculous!!!

My older special needs son (12) was using the practice area when we were told that it was closed off (no barriers or signs stating this) and we werent allowed to use it. We were forced to use the main skate area where he was continually ran into, knocked down, and tripped over. Absolutely not special needs friendly and we will not return. Dont have a practice area if people cant use it and put up notices if an area is closed. And when you tell someone an area is closed, be polite. Being a jerk doesnt help your situation. Horrible place

The floor has been redone and was very smooth. The only drawback is the music, its geared to more of a hip-hop crowd , and they let people walk on the floor in there shoes and have these training rollers for all ages.

First impressions are most important, tried this skating rink and will be point blank honest.....it is my last time attending it. It seemed as though they’re hurting for money, you pay $11 to get in per person/child and if you’re child is inexperienced you have to pay an additional $11 for the assistance/helper rack for them to utilize. After my beginner child fell after skating for literally 5-6 min I went to see about trading in skates for myself to get my moneys worth and was told I had to pay for an additional person even after explaining a starter child not wanting to skate anymore after 5 MINUTES. If someone was to ask me one word to describe staff, no hesitation my answer is RUDE. First visit unsatisfied and would not recommend.

Carlett and Gina are awesome and have great customer service. I had a event that involved several youth, and both of them took very good care of us and made sure we were ALL taken care of!

Horrible and unprofessional owner!!! I was there for my nieces birthday party, so when we got there the lady/owner at the front charged $11 each for me, my wife and my 3 year old son even though we told her we were not going to skate. But she said everybody gets charged to get through the doors, so we paid. Then we get in there and my mother said she didnt have pay and then we see a sign inside that says non skating parents are free. Then i confronted her about it and she said the best she could do was a free pass for next time, which i didnt want, i just wanted my money back. So then she threatened to call the police on us cause i was confronting her on what she did. Oh and she also said we cant go by that sign cause it was 40 years-old but yet its still up there with false advertisement. And during this whole process we tried utilizing what we paid for but all of a sudden they didnt have my sons skate size and they ran out of socks we could purchase for my wife to be able to skate with my son which is another reason why we wanted our money back. After all that, she called me ignorant for asking her for a reciept. Being forced to purchase something we didnt want in the first place, then couldnt utilize it anyway after we did just wasnt the right way for customers to be treated. Not to mention the uncleanly state of the restrooms and the unpleasant smell throughout the establishment.*UPDATE*If everybody under 21 must be charged, then why did you charge me and my wife that are clearly over 21 when we told you we would not be skating.

I was skeptical at first about bringing my kids here because of some of the reviews I had read but my kids insisted on me taking them so I decided to take them on a Tuesday . . I didnt feel comfortable just leaving them so I went in with them on Tuesdays it is open skating at 1:00 pm and closes at 9:00pm that is 8 hours of skating or as I saw because most kids were dropped off BABYSITTING .. I was charged $18.00 for my two kids and myself. I didnt skate but it didnt bother me because I would be charged if I took them to the movies and the movies just to enter I pay almost $11 a person so that would be $33 for a movie that is 2 hours at most .. My kids had fun playing the games and looking at there schedule I saw they offer another discount day which is Thursdays and on that day parents skate free. Thank you for providing a safe and fun place for my kids to come and have fun.

Complete rip off! They didn’t have any skates available failed to mention upon payment took our money and let us in once we were in we were told we had to wait for some skates and we couldn’t get our money back. They were really rude to me and three other of my friends and my little brother. They told us to keep moving from places when we would stop to chill and you know breath with out the thought of getting hurt by falling or how ever else. We wanted to take pictures of us being goofy teens and they told us to stop, we stopped even though we were confused on why. While we’re putting on our shoes and helping my little brother out on his shoes she told us to leave... like what did we do so wrong? But we were cleaning up our area and put our skates back but they were absolutely rude to us for no reason.... i don’t see us coming back here.

Where do I begin for one we were greeted horribly at the front by a rude woman they have so many rules they can’t even remember them all. Concession is overpriced. Manager let me in for free last time since I wasn’t skating only watching my sister next time she insists I pay knowing she let me in last time. Overall it’s a cool place to skate but due to the lack of consistency and poor customer service I find it hard to enjoy my time here.

It is a bit pricey. $22 for my daughter and I, then I paid an extra $10 for the pvc pipe walker. The floor was bad in some areas. The bathroom doors were really low, you could see over them, and no lock, and the sinks were outside the bathroom. It was fun, I just wish it werent so expensive so we could come more often.

I rented one of the PVC pipe helpers for my grandson. It was $10. Last time it was only like $5 or less. My grandson decided he didnt want to skate so I turned it in, in case someone else wanted to rent it. Of course after only 30 minutes or so my grandson wanted to try again. I asked the manager if we could get it back since it was the same day, same visit and she said No claiming they had to log it in. It wouldnt have hurt them to make a simple change to their log. I will never be coming back to Car Vel Skateland. Manager gives out a very negative vibe. Not friendly at all. The little worker guy was very good though.

Growing up this was the places to be. The guy that owned it, Don ,was so nice. The last couple times we went his wife seemed to be running things now. She is rude and unpleasant.

I just booked my private party for my 45th bday and it was amazing. The owner was sweet and helpful and the staff was excellent and on point very helpful. Was wonderful. I will definitely be back ... 50th .. whooo hooo was super fun my guest were happy and enjoyed it nothing but smiles.. thank you all for giving us that throw back....

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! Skating rink was way too small and the person at the front desk was rude! This place in not worth your time or money. The floor does not look like it had been redone, despite her saying it had been. Why on earth would they sell skates with black stoppers and they will not let you skate on their floor with black stoppers. We are adult experienced skaters and they insisted on us buying some generic $10(per pair) waste of money plastic toe plugs/stoppers(that we dont use btw). Of course we asked if we could take off our stoppers and we just go in without them cause we dont use them and they still said NO! If u ask me they were just trying to make more money. How ridiculousis that?!!?!?!!?! That was our first and last time ever going to that skating rink! I suggest you go to The Rollercade for a good time!!

Despite the bad reviews I read this past week, I decided to book a party for my son who turned 12 this past Saturday 1-20-2018 (at the last minute) at this place to see for my self if the reviews were bad.WRONG! The whole experience I had was the opposite of what I read. Even though my booked party said there was no host for my party, I had the pleasure of a nice women name Joyce (I hope I spelled your name right ) helping out with the drinks and ice cream they provided for my sons birthday party. The little balloon decorations was just perfect! She gave me great advice and tips as well. My son had a blast celebrating his birthday with his family here. As well as I and my guest too.So word at advice, DONT always believe what you read on the reviews, experience yourself to see if its true or not. With that said, Thank you Joyce & Car-Vel Skate Land at Goliad Rd for making my sons birthday party awesome! I really do appreciate it. Keep up the great work!

The staff was really nice. There was no DJ. The music was ok. They had an internet jukebox, so I picked a song. It played with the other song that was already playing. Not cool. There was hardly anyone there. I have never seen a skating rink so empty. They have a wooden floor with alot of dead spots. You can see and feel how the floor is uneven. My son put $3 in the soda machine, but it did not work. When he tried to get his money back from the machine it shorted him 25 cents, they did give him the difference. For what I am used to the place sucks, but for what it was, it was ok. There was no more than 15 people total in the building. They only had two kinds of fountain drinks. So we had a good time and it sucked, we got bored. So we left.

Had fun at this rink over spring break. They were very busy and said that they dont normally get that busy but we still had a good time. They offer free adult skate with paid kid so that made it a really good price to do skating and we only got to spend the last hour there.. it was a drive from where we were but was worth it...

Fun fun fun!!!! If youre a beginner or have not skated in a while, do not go to their tuesday/Thursday nights, it gets packed and youll sure be wobbling as the teens pass you by lol. I had bugs in my cup, didnt notice until i was half way down. Please clean better, otherwise would have given better rating!

Just left & if u are another race besides Hispanic dont go there they looked @ me & my 3 kids up and down talking about us... plus I felled on the rink and they had a problem with getting me an ice bag.. the lady at the door with the black hair was very rude recommend dont go here worst skating rink I ever been too

My kids love this place even if we don’t skate we still get charged so I make everybody get skate anyway. But at least I know that their Policy states that anyone over 21 will not get charge. Had my daughters 11th birthday here yesterday and I will definitely be back. Between Joyce, Natalia and Billie they helped me make this party a memorable one. I completely recommend it if you have a special event, even if you have tiny tots!! My 2 and 3 year old were out there skating and so occupied that the party went so smoothly! This rink is one of the best here in SanAntonio! They have great staff, very nice and helpful. They have good prices with lots to choose from (food wise). They have a good verity of music.:)! They have a good verity of games. Its a good environment to go skate and have fun with friends! I love skating here on Fridays! EVERYONE should come here its defiantly worth it .!

If I could give a 0 i would. The lady/owner is very rude. I try to pay with my card and she said that she didnt know how to work the card reader. She said she prefers cash anyways.Staff was friendly enough.

I didnt think i would have anything to complain about at this place however the staff made this a bad experience for me and my family. Dont bother complaining to management because they dont seem to care besides i think all the staff is related so they wont see ur point of view anyway. Theres also long gaps between songs ,its really amateurish, bland. I wanted to try this one and see if its better than marbach and its not hence marbach has the better reviews. I wouldnt come here again and would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone.

My daughter loves to skate here. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the owner Carlet offers skating lessons at a reasonable price. My daughter learned a lot and skates very well.

Went there Tuesday night and my kids had a lot of fun. The music was loud and family friendly. I usually like to review places that leave a great impression. This place was no exception, the lady gave my children a few pointers on how to skate, it was a slow night but my kids now keep bugging me to go back.. And we will!

This is an amazing place to skate. We played the limbo and I won so I got a free cookie . There was a Easter egg hunt and I got a egg that said free chips. The music was very catchy and its a great place to go to for a birthday party

Came in again this evening with my family and it amazes me the way some families come out dressed this is a family place not a club.. I actually felt sorry for the way the employees were treated we need to remember business have rules and we need to follow them.. I also wanted to say this business is not racist I have a multicultural family and have been here numerous times never to be treated any differently .

The music was so old school, I had to use my own music from my phone to enjoy my time (headphones) and no room to do anything even if you wanted to practice also with too many children, that weren’t there just to skate but push one another very annoying and dangerous. They only spoke once about it, and let it begin. The rink floors were bumpy and need to be repaired as well the skates, they were worn out and out dated by far. And once you come through the last door it reeks of sweaty feet and dirty socks. I guess that’s what I signed up for for 4$. Will definitely not go back lol those ghetto children of all races mostly Mexicans made me re-think having kids. Terrible

I used to go to this place as a kid but now as an adult they overcharge for admission and food!! I explained to the lady at the window that my 1 year old who can hardly walk, would not be skating under any circumstances and she said because shes under the age of 21 and because they have skates that fit her I would have to pay $11 for her!!!! Who does that???? Doing all they can to rip people off. FYI you need a ticket to get skates, why pay for a ticket when youre not using skates???

Feel I was over charged for 3 people me included $30 lets be reasonable. Other reviews stated they were charged less for the same amount of people as me. Food in general was pricey. Oh side note the art needs to be updated, coming from a pro artist its 2017.-Strike_the_3rd
