Busy Friday night. Hostess said 15 -20 minute wait . But it couldnt have been more than 10. Our waitress was fantastic. Wish , we had brought home the receipt so I could have seen her name. Its a very loud and vibrant restaurant so I dont think I heard it. But she was very attentive and kept our iced tea and waters filled all eveningA large array of Latin Cuisine. Very reasonably priced. Portions are very large. Tortillas and black bean dip and salsa, unlimited fills.Got Combination one. Great flavor and my boyfriend got Carne Flameada, he ate it all and said it was very good. Dinner was a good pace . It could go as fast or as slow as you wanted. There are so many restaurants in this shopping area but this is a great choice for a fun atmosphere and excellent food.

The food was exceptiinal. Everything was so fresh it was one of my most favorite meals i have ever had. We visited the San Antonio location and not only was the food incredible but so was our waitress Andrea. The General Manager Andres Perez took the time to speak with us to ensure we were completely satisfied. The design was awesome and made the total experience perfect. If we lived in San Antonio, this would be my regular restaurant. 5 stars was not enough. If i could give 10 stars I could. We will be testing the Houston location next week.

This is the second time the wife and I have visited Glorias Latin Cuisine. The first time was great, but this time it was just ok.The Good...The chips were awesome. Great flavor, not greasy at all. The salsa had great flavor. The Bad...The wife and I both ordered the soft chicken tacos. The chicken was dry as if it was sitting under a heat lamp or microwaved too long. No silverware on our table, we had to ask for it. Place wasnt clean, food on the seats and table.Takeaway...Disappointed, we drove over 30 minutes to have a nice dinner out only to be served dry chicken. Not sure if well go back and give them another try.Note to Management...Taste your food before you serve your customers and keep your restaurant clean. The last thing your customers want to see is what your previous patrons had for lunch.

Gloria’s, not to be confused with La Gloria, is a local favorite for El Salvadorian and traditional Mexican favorites. Never had a bad meal here. Gloria’s Special is a great introduction - tamales wrapped in banana leaves, papusas, fries yucca and plantains. They also have all day happy hour Monday thru Thursdays. House margarita is pretty good. Can seat large groups, and even when crowded you usually don’t have to wait long for a table. Arguably once of the best restaurants at the Rim.

The carne asada here was delicious! We had the general manager of the restaurant come up and introduce himself to my mother and I and took his time to explain the history of Rosario’s and how it started in Dallas and how the lady Rosario would sell pupusas from her own home. Then finally opening up her full restaurant, expanding the business and later on unfortunately splitting up with her husband. And now she’s owns a half of he has his own half of restaurants. It was a cool story, that I thought I’d share if you didn’t get a chance to hear it. Overall amazing place and great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back for more.

Don’t confuse this place with La Gloria’s - that’s a different place. This one is billed as Tex-Mex meets El Salvador. I was excited to try the pupusas, but was a bit let down by them. They were light and fluffy, but just “OK.” Pupusas usually don’t have a lot of filling in them, but these ones were seriously lacking in the cheese and pork department. The slaw they served with it had a good tang to it and makes for a good combination when you dump it all over the pupusas like you’re supposed to. Three pupusas with cole slaw for $9.99 - no rice or beans.A couple of other dishes were ordered, but none of them came with tortillas. Come on Gloria, we’re in South Texas, we need our tortillas! :)Salsa is ok, chunky style with a little bit of a kick but not much. The service was just “so-so” but no major complaints.Great for groups - plenty of room.I’ll check them out again, but only because it’s a fun place to hang out. I’ll try some of the traditional Tex-Mex fare next time though - it all looked pretty good. Still looking for a good El Salvadoran joint in SA town though...

The black bean and rice were also delicious (and I usually dont like black beans). My wife had the Enchilada Verdes which also were very good but a little spicy for her taste, I tried a bite and thought they were perfect. This place is very new, so that is something to consider with my review.Queso was hot & fresh, and probably similar to a Tex Mex style queso.Beef tamales on the appetizers were tasty, wrapped in banana paper, and neatly served.Guacamole was also fresh and a large serving.Beef fajita nachos were great, the chips were crunchy, not soggy like nachos often become with heavy toppings.Chips were warm and the salsa was the best part in my opinion. Unfortunately, this is one of my least favorite Mexican food places in San Antonio due to the price and flavor of the food. However, the service is phenomenal. I dont think it was worth spending $50 + $10 tip = $60 for two people.Food: The food really is not to what it is hyped up to be. The worst thing you could possibly have is the queso. I felt like the queso was melted velveeta cheese that was scooped into a bowl and served. It was basically too thick and cold to eat before it got to the table. Thats how I knew the cheese wasnt real. I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas and my friend had their shrimp fajitas. The enchiladas werent anything I couldnt make at home, and Im not that good of a Mexican food cook, so that says a lot. My friend told me that her fajitas were not seasoned very much, and for $18, I would have expected more.Service: The employees here are VERY friendly, and always eager to answer questions or get you a refill on your drink before you have to ask. They work quickly and efficiently to make sure that you have everything you need before you receive your entree. My tables chips wererefilled before empty, and the same goes for the drinks. My glass was not empty once! I was very impressed. That could be where the high price comes in to compensate for the food.Environment: BEAUTIFUL restaurant. This restaurant just opened, so everything still looks brand new. The interior designer of this restaurant knows what theyre doing. Theres an eclectic and modern feel to the place. Almost like a Mexican-fusion type of environment for lack of a better phrase.Overall, this place was ok. It wasnt the greatest, but the service and environment did compensate in the weak food areas.

What can I say, My friends and I were looking forward to going there since we have heard, for the most part, a positive feedback about the place. so we decided to go for a late dinner and arrived at 9:50p. The Hostess, blonde hair girl, was extremely rude when I asked her questions about the band, dinner and the wait time for a table. I mentioned to her that it was our first time there, would like a table to eat dinner and enjoy the music. She said, she didnt know how long is the wait for a table. Youre the hostess, in charge of the front and table seating and you have no idea how long is the wait? on top of that she charged us $10.00 each to eat dinner and enjoy the music. I asked why were we being charged 10.00 to sit down and eat dinner and she responded, thats the cover charge for the band. We were told that as long as you come before 10pm there is no charge, she didnt care. We paid, waiting for a table and was sat down next to a door where everyone kept coming in and out for service. The waitress approached us, took our drink order and dinner order, she did NOT provide great service and was not worth the tip we left. She approached us only once to made sure we didnt need anything else. Another one of the workers there, a very nice man asked how is everything going and we had told him what occurred and he said we should not have been charged. He told the manager, the manager came up to us and asked what happened, he was just as rude as the hostess, and he said that is the charge for the band and everyone pays unless we are not staying for the band and we would get our money back. I proceeded in telling him when I called I was told that as long as we get there before 10pm, which we did we did not have to pay, he says, everyone pays, and would I be happy if he gave me back $15.00 out of the $30.00 that we paid, I said YES!!! and he did. I think that if you are in this line of business, great customer service is everything!!!! Hostess and Manager, have no couth!!! Get and give the correct answers to customers queries. Dont be rude because the customer is the one who brings in the business!!! Dont say one thing over the phone and another when the customer gets there. Also, the bar service needs to be improved, short staffed! We were ignored and waited at least 10 mins before being served and thats because we finally stopped someone and said, hey, weve been waiting her for a while!!! Not enough single man to dance with. However, the place does have potential. They all need better customer service skills and would benefit in taking a course especially the rude manager. Again, customer service goes a long way.

As if this already crowded end of the Rim could stand the traffic of another restaurant, here comes Gloria (not to be confused with the Johnny Hernandez ventures La Gloria). Wedged between Mashd and Hopdoddy across the street from the General Public, you will most likely have to use the parking garage during popular hours to visit. Parking on the street here is akin to the parking at La Cantera main storefront drive with both locations parking spaces paralleling the hens teeth analogy. The foyer of Gloria has a spectacular glass Chihuly-esque (not sure of the artist) light artwork overhead as your walk in that looks like a bursting spiral of cool, blue, twisted glacial ice pinnacles back-lit by a soft arctic sun. Your eye is then reluctantly wrested from this marvelous piece directly back to the end of the dining room where a wall of dancing flames captures your attention. Gas flames behind a wide glass front dance to an eye catching chaotic rhythm. And if that wasnt enough to hypnotize, the dining area to the left is decorated with a near room size curtain that is more transparent than translucent. There are large empty circle designs that move in the breeze like sheer watermarked gauze. It stopped me in my tracks on the way to our windowed table on the street side. The menu is just an oversized, monochromatic, laminated sheet with both Salvadoran and Mexican dishes listed on either side. I was expecting something a little more eye catching after that mod-popping sensory loading entrance. You know immediately that you are at the Rim by the not so inexpensive rent covering menu prices.Happy hour starts at 2:00 pm so we tried the house margs on the rocks. H-m-m-m. Next the top shelf marg and a blood orange marg. Double h-m-m-m. I think we are just too jaundiced by our many years of marg tinkering and mixing at home. Very few places match the fresh limes from our own trees and the premium tequila and orange liqueurs we use. No brag. Just fact. Makes it tough to have drinks out.Chips ahoy! Here came the ubiquitous bowl of tortilla chips and hot sauce with an added bonus. A black bean dip that I actually liked. So many times the service of anything containing black beans is just, well . . . tasteless. This was fairly good. On to the mains. After a discussion with the slightly argumentative waiter on the preparation and service of pupusas, we ordered the appetizer; three small pork and cheese stuffed tortillas. The pupusas I know are more on the order of flat gorditas rather than thinner tortillas. These were indeed more like tortillas, very flat with almost undetectable filling. I definitely would not use the word stuffed in association with this dish. I loaded up on the curtido (slaw that is served with pupusas) to make these very good tortillas taste like more than just griddled corn masa. Disappointing.Flip flopping on cultures we decided to go basic Mexican and try the Tex- Mex triumvirate, beef enchiladas served with rice and beans. The first attempt at delivery was not a James Beard moment. The plate was just barely warm. Swooping down from some close by aerie, the manager taloned our plates with one deft motion followed by a few quick apologies and returned almost as quickly with fresh, this time hot, entrees. Bravo! The beans were regular pinto refrieds, the rice a lighter colored, corn and pea freckled, flat, mounded scoop, and the enchiladas, fairly generously beef filled tubes. More cheese on top, please. The flavor of everything was fine, but no suddenly appearing crowned head for an imperial moment. The decor was cool, the ambiance a quasi-latin hot, but I suspect that I will not be walking around singing G-L-O-R-I-A anytime soon. The price-quality-quantity formula was just a little too sub par. And for a chuckle, those who just gotta have a tortilla pusher with their meal, a single folder will wrangle another $1 out of your wallet. Please!! [read in a mildly disgusted tone]

I was here for Brunch and ordered the Huevos con Platanos. I was extremely disappointed. Not only did the meal only come with just two pieces of platano maduros, but the menu states it comes with two eggs over easy, however it only looked like one. The portions for this meal is absolutely disgraceful for the price you pay ($12). I couldnt believe the it only came with two plantains...the size of my sour cream dollop was larger than my plantains. I am upset, for I shouldve taken a photo of the meal. The Manager did comp the meal, however stated we shouldve ordered a side of plantains because of the small portion served for this meal....let me state the meal name again Huevos con Platanos. Does not make any sense why I need to order another side order of platanos.... ***edit: I was able to find a picture if the meal on Yelp posted by another user (except my eggs did not look as good as theres)....shouldve read their post before ordering! Like I said, a disgraceful meal.
