It was my first time visiting and it was an incredible show. So well curated and the work was all amazing. Im glad we had a chance to visit.
My first blue star experience. I loved it!!!! Just what I needed on this friday afternoon. I cant wait for the next exibit
I liked a couple pieces in the museum, but it was small. I felt like they needed more pieces that really showed off their gallery to the extent that it was, but it felt like most pieces were student works. My favorite piece was the stitched composition notebooks. Those took a lot of work and energy to make. They had a message and were a big piece.Maybe I just hate the open room concept of modern spaces. You cant hand anything on the walls if there are no walls. But they could invest in sculpture work, if theres any of that to be had around.Maybe they could hang panes of glass and then hang artwork from the glass. I dunno, but they should think of something. There was Mexican artist with a single painting up. There were several tapestries, and several small pictures in the main gallery.
This was only our second visit but again loved the unique art on display. In addition, the surrounding art complex has many art offerings as well as food. NOTE: directly behind the complex is the San Antonio RIVERWALK which I consider one of the best urban amenities in the world. Have posted a few pictures of the birds I saw as I walked downtown on the river.
Not exactly Kid FriendlyWent for a kids activities day, only to find ourselves in a room with art portraying male and female nudity in the first room, and one of the drawings was pretty much from a gynecologists point of view...so definitely NOT kid appropriate. It was a great idea for the activities, but I dont think it was a good idea to take the kids. Pretty much just steered clear of that area. Wont be going back.
I love going here with and with out family. They constantly display some of the most origional and creative artist. The Blue Star Contemporary also has special events for the family as well as ever changing displays, best way to keep up with them is by either going or adding yourself to their newsletter. Great venue and will visit again and again.
Very interesting art and talking to the artists was very exciting and informative. Loved the pieces
Was a total different view than the Riverwalk very romantic place
Beautiful place to spend by yourself or a great place to start an adventure in southern downtown!
A great spot to check out. Spend a first Friday night here. Arrive early.
Always a fresh new interesting exhibit. The exhibits are curated to develop a theme that is in line with the message the museum is offering. The exibitions are always presented in a way that the gallery patron is entertained but challenged to learn the message the artist is trying to convey. Check the museums hours before deciding on a visit, the museum is dark during some periods for exhibition installation.
This is a beautiful area to visit, especially during the Fall & Spring time! Theres art, music, foid, & bars for all ages
Absolutely love the art installations here and the diversity of expression. Look forward to going here every 1st Friday!
Nice museum. There is a small $5 per person entrance fee. Teachers, students, and military are free. Fun scavenger hunt for kids. Worth going.
First Fridays are awesome and patrons enjoy free entry. Almost always a time to check out new displays in the gallery. Enjoy the ambiance, live music, food, and drinks. Great outing for family and friends whether you are a critic in a beret or a pre-k finger paint enthusiast.
Its tucked away pretty good its a part of riverwalk alot dont see or know of.its very relaxing its along scenic stretch.the water is clean pretty deep.close by king Williams leads to alot of beautiful photo moments
Place was fire I have photos from here on Facebook I think that my aunt took.
This place was really neat and there is a a lot to see and do there. I took a field trip there with an architecture class from the University of Texas at San Antonio. The art on display is very interesting.
What a wonderful gallery. The art was beautiful and thought-provoking. The staff was very welcoming and informative. They made me feel welcome as soon as I stepped in the door. Im glad I was able to visit and donate to this wonderful place!
I miss First Fridays
First Fridays are awesome and patrons enjoy free entry. Almost always a time to check out new displays in the gallery.
Eclectic art exhibits that are not afraid to take chances. Though not always to my taste, it streches the imagination.
Nice coffee/shops and great scenery
Loved this place! Great atmosphere. Trendy customers.
One of the best art galleries in town. The day before first Friday there’s almost always a new show. Check it out.
A Nice place to chillout
Definitely a great place to visit!!
Great prices. Beautiful place.
Southtown cool shops eclectic and what not
The art here is so far out there, I feel it’s insulting to art in a way. Clothes baskets full of blankets toys and books sitting on the end of a teeter totter. A table with a movie of dinner plates being broken with a hammer projected on the table top. If you enjoy plain canvases with a dot, you may like it, but to me it was more performance art or political statement than visual art.
Love this little community thing going on. Brings me back to the East Village in NYC back before it became gentrified and full of wannabes. I hope this eclectic vibe stays. Can hear some great music, buy some local art or knickknacks. Go visit and support your local community.
Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum was very wonderful museum and the art exhibits were very fantastic indeed.
In close proximity to the River Walk, and incredible shows.
This place was enjoyable, I am studying architecture and I needed to study some color figurations and looking at perspective sculptures that mean differently. Architecture Design was weird becomes it comes form the heart.
Great variety of different styles of art good place for a quick vist
Good contemporary art space.
Museum is not rich, but humble! When I visited the re I letters were two exhibition, so they regularly exhibit something new.Location is walking distance from river walk isSan Antonio. I proud Dan Antonio has this. For student visiting is free. Also location has some restaurant and cafe. Advised
Great microbrew
The atmosphere was fantastic.
Cool place to hang out. Its very popular for the younger crowd at night
Used to love this place, but there isnt a single business that makes the parking issues worth it. Except the gelato place.
Great art space
Great gallery!! Highly recommend it...
Theyre doing what theyre doing
Very interesting place, had some free time and thought it would be a good way to break up my day, it was.
If you dont already have a membership, go on first Thursdays to avoid the crowd. This place is my home away from home.
Blue Star is a San Antonio jewel. Located in the heart of Southtown right on the river, what a perfect setting for a contemporary arts museum.
We took a bike ride from downtown on the b cycle kiosk. Great ride.. great beer
As a new comer in town that Artist location give a spring to new unknown talents and the premises by the river walk are very inspiring.
They have great art markets with local art
Such a nice gallery, with wonderful displays.
Nonprofit gallery as well as other independent galleries. The Sunday art market includes the usual vendors.
I was not good a good gallery at all. There are only 2 galleries that are the size of my bedroom....and at that I paid $7 bucks to look at a room with chicken wire.
Fun place to spend an evening.
The newly expanded river area is a real treat.
Weird people.
