This place has been on my bucket list for months. I’m from the East and temporarily retired here in San Antonio. I’ve been searching for a great gelato place. This place is WONDERFUL ️️ The owner told me he was trained in Italy (4 years training) His gelato is homemade , not from a powder mix. I had the dark chocolate and goat cheese salted caramel gelato. Incredible. Perfect for a hot day. There must have been 20 some flavors. I will go back in heartbeat . This place resides in the Southtown Blue Star district. If you have time, take a walk on the beautiful RiverWalk. Oh, I also had the turkey, Brie, green apple panini. Yummy

Nestled in the trendy Blue Star Arts Complex, South Alamode Panini & Gelato offers an absolutely delectable variety of gelato and paninis for every palate. My personal favorite is the pistachio gelato and the Sottobosco panini that leaves me anxiously counting down the days until my next visit.You will be greeted by owners that were trained in authentic gelato-making during their four-years in Italy. And even though you can’t see their smiles underneath their face coverings, you can hear it in their voices as they interact with their customers. I promise you will not be disappointed!

I give this place two thumbs up. I will be back with my relatives. Prices are appropriate for the quality. Menu is like a cafe in Indianapolis I loved.

Sandwiches are AMAZING and of course their Gelato is super yummy as well! Definitely a good choice for lunch or a snack!

Very tasty gelato and friendly staff, sadly they do not sample so I would recommend getting a small for new costomers because the gelato is very rich and some flavors are very sweet

Ive had a lot of gelato all over the world, and this ranks up near the top. Its authentic, but also not afraid to try non traditional flavors and combos that work amazing. I chose to get a cup of goats milk and strawberry, and a scoop of peanut butter laced with Nutella. Not only was it like a PB&J, but both had fantastic levels of creaminess and individual flavors. Dont miss out on this great gelato!

Nice spot to grab some gelato or a cup of coffee. My son had the chocolate ice cream and really enjoyed it. My wife had the strawberry and said it was very rich. I had an espresso and it was fine. All in all a good place to visit if youre in the area.They also sell sandwiches and paninis but we didnt try them when we visited. I will say the meats in the deli display looked high quality and the vegetables appeared fresh.

During these times trying to support local businesses and they have that kind of attitude Im really disappointed. First visit, they were not busy at all. My husband noticed while our daughter decided what flavor she wanted the gentleman behind counter rolled his eyes at her, then while he ( husband) ordered an older lady behind counter rolled her eyes at him, she noticed he saw her and started blinking rapidly to play it off.

Quaint resting place with great customer service and gelato was amazing.

Walked in and wasn’t welcomed, ordering was hard because we have never been and the menu was difficult to read. We ending up ordering something basic, but was pleasantly surprised. The food was great! Chips were great! Everything was fresh and delicious! Will be coming back for more!

We have been trying to support local businesses. And it was our first time to S. Alamode. We had hoped to have a good experience as we have had with many other local shops.But service was not very good. Not very welcoming. Person behind counter rolled his eyes when my daughter was trying to make her choices. The gelato was good but it is unfortunate but we will not be returning.

WOW!!!! The sandwiches are out of this world amazing. A true hidden gem in Southtown. I would give this place 20 stars if I could. I’m definetly a customer for life!

Man! The gelato has always been great, but have you had a Havanese Panini?!? It was delicious. A little heavy on the ground mustard, but Im a mustard maniac; so no problems here. The pickles in the sandwich itself were great and the meat was fresh! I will definitely be back. Great place for a day date, or a light snack to sit and chill. Live the Blue Star areas and its surrounding pleasantries such as this place.

The affogato with the Mexican vanilla gelato is undeniable. The pistachio gelato is also very special. I cant stop eating here. Plus, its locally owned and very friendly.

Best gelato in San Antonio. Their sandwiches are quite delicious a well. The owners and staff are the best. I lived close to South Alamode and made a weekly trip to at least say hi to everyone (and to check out their gelato flavors). Get the pistachio!

I entered this place wanting to try whatever they recommended but I guess they took that as stupidity. I told them it was my first time but they continued to be rather condescending. What salvaged it all was the delicious panini (Luigi) and the affogato. I wish people would not judge there customers so quickly...their non-verbal communication speaks louder than their words.

We found this place by chance whilst hiking River Walk outside city center. Interior of the shop is in line with surrounding art complex. We took two ice cream bowls and were absolutely surprised by the extravagant choices and unbelievable good taste of their ice cream. Shop is owned by an italian/American couple. Another evidence, that the Italians invented ice cream ;-)

Delicious gelato! The two ladies there were so kind to us and we had a great conversation with them. They have gelato, coffee drinks, fruit, and other awesome treats! Its a beautiful place and we will definitely be coming back!

This place is really delicious there gelato is the bomb its so good its nice and silky and smooth and very flavorful i recommend this place!!!! If i could i would give it 10 stars

Great Gelato location! Their customer service was beyond patient and kind even though we made it probably 15 minutes before they closed. I got the watermelon and lime sorbet and the combination was divine for the hot summer day. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of it to show you guys the quality! Will definitely be visiting again next time I’m in San Antonio!

Friendly owners and servers. Best gelato this side of Florence. The common flavors (Mexican vanilla, stracciatella, etc) are excellent and daily flavors demand repeat visits. Fruit sorbets are seasonal. They source as much as they can locally, and pistachios are sourced from Italy. The cafe and bathroom are clean.

Overall very delicious. Texture was very soft and melt well in your mouth. A small is $6 and a large is $7. A small gets you two flavors and a large gets you 3.Definitely sharable and I would recommend you check it out. Ate it so fast I didnt even get a chance to take a picture.

If you have had Gelato before, this will completely change your perspective. The Gelato is so rich and smooth what ever flavor you pick will be worth it. Goat cheese Galeto is amazing.

When you think they smush the ice cream down in the cup, instead they go over the top (literally) with delicious new flavors of all types. Instead, I would rate them 10 stars instead of 5.

Cool vibes and enjoyable area being located at Blue Star; and, obviously, great selections of gelato. Got a small (2 scoops) in a waffle cone. Pricey but worth it with each scoop being massive. Parking available in front and in the Blue Star area. Also about a 15-25 minute walk along the river from downtown

This place is amazing. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The food tastes amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and chic. Parking isnt the best, but thats a small downside.

Cute Place with super staff. The gelatos are wonderful! Go out on a limb and try the cheese variations (Goat cheese, cashew, caramel was the absolute BEST!!), and a nice hot espresso. The combo on even a warm day is lovely.

If you are in San Antonio...this place is a MUST visit!! The staff/owners were very welcoming and accommodating! They had great suggestions on what flavors to try! Also fresh ingredients?! WHOA! I had the Mango Sorbet and I died and went to heaven. Tons of other flavors as well and some are so damn creative! I dont think 5 stars is enough! Also the atmosphere is great!!

Their gelato is amazing, always great flavors. If you go for fruity get anything with some kind of herb! So strawberry lavender or pineapple basil. Then theres also the Stracciatella! (Contains nuts, but honestly, it makes you go nuts for more)

South Alamode has my favorite gelato in the world! I literally find myself thinking about their pistachio gelato at random multiple times throughout the week. It looks a little pricey at first, but it is DEFINITELY worth it because they give huge servings and the quality is second to none. My favorite spot in San Antonio :)

Great place at the blue star! Reasonable prices and you get quite a bit of gelato for a small cup!! Coffee and gelato was the best tasting! Place was clea, and good service. Will come back to try their paninis for final verdict.

Genuine Gelato in San Antonio is hard to come by (in my opinion) so that is why I like to come here. Dont always get to this side of town, but when I am down here, I like to make a stop. It is always fun to see what flavors they have (I look but always choose something with chocolate!)Im a local so I dont do this, but bikes and scooters are everywhere downtown now so it is real easy to travel distances that would have been a good walk in the past. If you are visiting, snag a scooter and head south of down town to try this place. It will be a rewarding stop on a warm day.

This is one of my favorite places in town. The gelato is always top-notch (I like the tiramisu), and the family that owns it are always delightful and friendly. Lots of really interesting flavors to try from, and they have dairy-free options.

Highly recommended for some great gelato! The staff is always friendly and they have a good selection of unique gelato and sorbet to choose from. My go to is always the blackberry ricotta gelato! Has a not to overwhelming ricotta taste and the sweet and tart blackberry makes it an excellent pair! Also their apple and brie pannini is great!

This place was awesome! I loved the decor and the staff was great. You get to see them make the gelato there. They also had a great selection of flavors.

I love their gelato and the fact that the flavors change. They always have something new to try. Their stracciatella is one of my favorite flavors.

Ive been regularly visiting this gelato shop for the past several years, and it still is my gold standard for gelato in Texas. Josh and Diletta are so personable and wonderful people, and they really make the shop feel welcoming. Highly recommend the pistachio gelato, as they personally bring the pistachios from Bronte, Sicily. Every visitor to San Antonio needs to come here, grab a gelato and espresso, then take a walk along the river access point here or check out some local art at Brick or Blue Star over the weekend.

First time here, you get best of both worlds here, quality and quantity. Awesome selection of gelato.

OMG the Gelato here is always amazing! Highly recommend! Have not had any paninis yet, but plenty of Gelato, everything is fresh and natural. The people are always very friendly and patient for you to try different flavors. Go and have some real authentic gelato!

Love this place. Been eating gelato here for a few years and have always had a great experience. The owners and staff are always friendly, helpful, and fun. The location can’t be beat as it is in the Blue Star complex with plenty of parking nearby, and right by the river. This place is a MUST if you find yourself in the Southtown area of San Antonio! The gelato is the best I’ve ever had — very authentic. Their paninis are so delicious as well!Very cool atmosphere within walking distance of the SA River Walk and The Historic King Williams District. Be sure to park in the main parking lot of the Blue Star Arts Complex, which is a short walk from the best gelato you’ll find in town.

Sandwiches are to die for. The owners are amazing and really have an incredible product on their hands. Id be happy to eat there every day if I could.

Soooo many flavors why I love this place. Great staff. Nice place to sit.

Well worth the trip. My son and daughter-in-law took me there for lunch. The quality of the food was excellent. The luscious gelato for dessert was a great finish for the meal. I really like the area and what the shops there have for sale.

Gelato is quite good but a little overpriced. Went on Sunday and several flavors were out in their freezer. While the selection was somewhat limited, flavors were interesting nevertheless. The interior was nice and bright and contained different seating options.

A must visit!! Great experience with our family.Went again this week, it just keeps getting better! Had the Havanese- ridiculously good.Josh and his silent side kick knock it out of the park! I wish there were more stars to give, 5 doesn’t seem like enough.

Ive only been here for dessert, like after a meal to swing by here my argument is that I get more per cup as opposed to going to Lick so my friends and I go here.

Omg the chipotle chocolate gelato was out of this world, I took my kids to get some and they loved it! Definitely going back soon.
