Oxbow is always a nice place to visit. Especially since you get an immersion into nature. Without having to leave Reno. Only thing is they close the park promptly at 4pm during their winter hours. So not a real chance of getting any sunset photos from their top deck. But still a great place to visit.

Entry level hiking and nature preserve. Not may trails but what you do see makes up for it. For one thing this place has a wonderful tree covered trail and looks like a tunnel of trees. Two things though. The Truckee river has often flooded this area so its best to go two days after a flood unless you dont mind lots of mud and secondly sometimes this place attracts questionable people from the streets so its best to go during the day with other people.

The park is beautiful. But as I was walking up to go in an old man with his off leash dog decided to block my entrance without telling me why. He proceeded to say don’t go in there it’s dark. And got in my face. Very rude. After questioning why he was blocking me(assuming he was a local homeless man) he told me he worked there and the park is closed after dark. I said okay and thanked him for letting me know and he proceeded to get in my face again as I was turning around. I was nothing but nice but this gentlemen needs to be talked to by his superiors

Just a great spot to stroll through the woods and next to the fabulous Truckee River.Folks out working today and I was admiring a plant/bush and a nice pretty lady that was working, told me about the plant as well as the history.Yes watch out for street folks. As well as little critters in the woods. But so worth it!

A hidden gem. I spent several years in Reno and didnt know such a place could exist in the middle of Reno of all places. Its not a large park, but its fairly wild, besides the paved walkways. Good basic hiking. Dont mess with the plants too much, though; I noted a few poisonous ones while walking.

What an amazing little hidden gem! Theres so much life here. Tons of different types of trees, birds (so many bird types!), beavers, squirrels, mice, bees... It feels like being transported away from the desert. And theres also info plaques to educate yourself. Plenty of quiet peaceful places too.

The trails are great places to walk along and the views are great. Theres very little of the city that intrudes here except in one place where looking out over the river you can see a home built across from the Oxbow Nature Study. Its very peaceful and quiet there.

My wife and I saw four mule deer resting next to the trail during our hike; they were spooked by us so stood up and stared at us -- two adults and a pair of twins. Also, there were six large ducks napping on the park side of the Truckee River. And we saw several butterflies, mostly white ones but several multicolored ones. It was a beautiful, sunny day with light breezes -- great day for us to be hiking there. We hike in this park at least twice a year. Looking forward to seeing all those Aspen change color this Fall. Super family hiking and photography park, but dont bring your dog; theyre prohibited and may cost you a fine.

This is a great nature area. Our 4th grade class raised trout and the folks at Oxbow helped us release them. Every child had a fish in a large vial to release. We went to the educational area and an excellent volunteer presented a program about the wildlife in our area. It was interactive so the kids loved it. I leaned something. We then went to two different areas, one to release the trout and also to observe small life in the river then proceeded to play a game where our class learned about the importance of plants in relation to larger animals and apex animals. Handicapped accessible. The trails are paved with DG.
