You never go to a golf place expecting not to drop a good load of cash. Its quite frankly, expensive to be even marginally decent at this game. I dont play often, but I was going to be playing in a tournament for my sons school and needed a driver. I ran into Dave who asked me if I was being helped. I told him my situation, and to boot I have a terrible slice. Knowing that this was not a serious interest, Dave took me into the used section. Dave took the time to not only show me a club that will help me, but put me in the simulator and showed me how to hit it. He gave me some drills to do before I took a shot, and MAN did it help. Heres the kicker; I went into the store expecting to pay a good deal of money... the club only cost $20. IN - FREAKING- CREDIBLE. Im pretty sure I had a better time here than I will at the tournament.

Ive been shopping for a new pair of golf shoes for several months. It should be simple, FootJoy, size 9.5, Medium, waterproof, spiked, not over $150. I want to be able to try the shoes on in the store as my foot can be a difficult fit. The thing is, Ive been checking Golf Galaxy Raleigh and Dicks Sporting Goods since some time in July and they never have them in stock, its always an order. I dont want to order to my home to possibly have to take them back. Why wouldnt either of these big stores have such a simple shoe in stock? I know its getting to the end of the season but early July wasnt. I really enjoy shopping at these places.

I have not golfed in five years (and what I did didn’t resemble golf) never had a knack for it nothing natural and have done lessons but none ever really stuck. Needless to say frustrating.Today I had my first and only hour long lesson with the instructor Jess and it was amazing. She put an apparatus on me that videoed my swing and compared to a pro golfers swing while giving me advice in stages. Before long I was hitting the ball straight and for a degree of distance and using my whole body to do the swing not just my arms. I would have a long long way to go to becoming a golfer but for the first time I feel like maybe there’s a chance! Thanks for making it simple and fun Jess!

Just went in to buy longer shafts for my irons. After taking my measurements the employee explained that the lie angle of my clubs was the problem, not the shaft length. This saved me a lot of money. The employee was extremely knowledgeable and not just concerned about making another sale. This was my first time in a Golf Galaxy and I will definitely be back.

Good thing about this place is they let you try out the clubs before you buy them. I am a long time golfer and wanted to update my set. I must have tried a dozen drivers before I found one that I liked. I am also a real penny pincher so I did not get the club the same day, I price shopped around. The prices here are not a hole in one but definitely birdie quality.

The staff doesnt seem too interested in helping customers. You must hunt one down to ask a question about a certain product. Once thats accomplished, most of the staff were pretty knowledgeable. The cashier was very unfriendly and acted like it was really a bother for you to be checking out while he was busy texting someone. Never said thanks just walked away after putting the receipt on the counter.Poor customer service overall and I go to either Golf Galaxy or Dicks, either of which is better.

So far as merchandise goes this is a great store. The customer service is directly based on what you are looking to buy and if you are male or female. I was trying out drivers and had no problem getting assistance. My wife trying on shoes (off the sales rack) and needing assistance was overlooked and passed directly by to give assistance to the men looking at the more expensive shoes. Put the driver I was going to buy back and we left.

I have always had a good experience at this Golfsmith. If it is winter or cold outside and you want to get some swings in there is a golf simulator driving range inside this location. The machines arent always working or accurate but you can still get a few swings in while not being able to be on the course. The staff has always been nice to me and I have received a few discounts when buying some used clubs. I would strongly suggest looking at their used clubs section before going out and buying some brand new Callaways or Taylor Made Irons.

I would give this location negative stars if possible. My first issue occurred about a year ago when I went in to have my driver re-shafted. I told the sales guy that I needed an extra-stiff shaft because I have a high swing speed. He sold me a product that he said would be perfect for what I was looking at. When I got hole I did a little research and found out that what he sold me was actually a senior flex shaft. I drove back to the store the next day to explain what I found out and that the shaft was unacceptable only to find that they had completed the re-shaft already. They told me there was nothing the could do at that point, and that I could have another shaft put on but that I would need to buy a new shaft and grip. A year later I finally decided to go through with this, and had everything set up. I knew exactly why I needed and brought everything in. The next morning I get a call saying that they could not do the work because the tip would break if they tried to do the re-shaft. Luckily I was actually able to get my money back this time. While at the register one of the managers came up and started to take the driver head off of the shaft without saying anything. I asked him why he was doing, and he said just looking at it. He put the head back on, and I was on my way. Later that day a friend and I went to the driving range, and I let a friend borrow the driver that had been left at GolfSmith. Within 3 swing the head popped off and flew 30 yards into the pond in front of us. I know for a fact that this was a result of the manager removing the head before I left. I wouldnt let these guys touch anything of mine again as they are totally incompetent.

As far as the merchandise, selection and store itself, it is a great place. I had the worst customer service experience of my life yesterday. I was shopping for a new wedge which I had been in the store multiple times to look at, each visit I was never spoken too or asked if I needed help but that was fine because I wasnt looking to buy at that time. Yesterday I knew the wedge I wanted, I walked in and picked it up. I was planning on having it re-gripped there, then I was looking to hit/purchase a driver & 3w. An associate was talking to another employee about how their is no business and he has been eating hot dogs instead of steak due to lack of service. There was literally 4 customers in the store including myself. As I walked away carrying my $100 wedge, I was approached by the associate complaining about the lack of business. He asked me about what I looking for. As I began to tell him that I was in the market for a driver and matching 3w a gentleman in a suit walked into the area to look at grips for his old club. The associate cut me off by addressing the gentleman and walking over to him. He looked back at me, pointed and said over there. The gentleman was looking to buy a grip, because I wasnt in a suit, the associate felt I was not a quality customer. If I didnt need the wedge for my tournament today, I would have ordered it from another website. When I went to the counter to purchase the wedge, the cashier acted as if it was a hassle to ring me up. I was not asked if I found everything ok or any other question. The cashier only said press credit or debit and then handed me my receipt and then walked away. I talked the store up to my friends and family, I will never step foot in the store and I would rather pay a little extra to their competitors.

Only get 2 stars because of the actual store and selection. Same complaint as everyone else, funny actually. Walked around wanting to spend money looking at irons standing there hoping someone would help me. Saw two employees talking stood there patiently waiting for them to finish one stopped talking looked At me the continued talking. I am a 25 yrs old so probably not their target demographic. Had to them interrupt beg for help to spend a thousand dollars. Which I am actually regretting giving a company with such poor customer service. I simply just literally want to give you my money just help make the process of me handing over 1000s of dollars easier. I contemplated leaving and should have.

From sales guys to the club repair shop, Ive had a horrible experience there. They didnt have what I needed so I had to order my clubs online, then take them BACK to the store to be extended an inch after my fitting. Then, the pro shop guy (while very nice initially) didnt clarify what to do with the receipt he gave me and now, over a week later, I have to return to Goldsmith (30 minutes away from me) with a piece of paper just to even PLACE the order I need for club repair. They are wildly disorganized and most of the sales guys are very rude. Skip it.

Just stopped in, not a very good golfer, but I knew what I was looking for, I wandered around looking for the putter I was in the market for and they didnt have my size, so I went looking for an employee. All of them were too busy talking to other employees and clearly didnt want to be bothered, one even sent me to a different area of the store because there should be a guy there that can help you. Are you serious?! Then I went to the range simulation area and asked one of the clubs be adjusted for my slice and the person running it said its not the clubs fault, its you swing. I know it is my swing, thats why I want a driver that can compensate for it! Im not good! Drove to the golf galaxy in cary. Much better.

I used to love Golfsmith... they have all the stuff you will ever want however the service there is horrible. I tired to return some grips that were IN THE WRONG BIN and because I did not have the receipt from the prior week I was given about 80% of the actual cost back in credit. I was simply changing out mid size grips for standard. The standard were cheaper and I was NOT even looking for the difference, they charged me more for buying a less expensive grip, again because of the grip. There computer had the info and I have bought thousands of dollars of stuff over the last 5-6 years... and this is the way I get treated. I was really trying to get on over on them right.Again remember the bin I took these out of said Standard NOT mid size.......

Unbelievable experience. wanted to trade in clubs less than 6 months old for same clubs with new recoil shafts. the rep I chased down to help me was Jason. he reeked of beer. im not kidding. I could tell right away he had no clue on what he was talking about. I used to get good customer service and advice on equipment. now I just get guys putting in time (after liquid lunches apparently) and just looking to sell you what they can. are these guys on commission??? and dont think about trading clubs in there. highway robbery. paid $1000 for a set of big bertha irons 6 months ago excellent condition. they wanted to give me $240. do yourself a favor and zip over to cary and go to golf galaxy. not as nice of a set up but top notch (sober) customer service and more money for your trade. I guarantee it.

Not a surprise there are many complaints about this place. I went in two nights ago about 25 minutes before closing. I was looking at golf shoes after 10 minutes of no one offering to help I approached the 3 employees talking to each other for help and asked for a specific pair and size not on the floor. The associate acted as though it was a hassle brought me the shoes and walked away. About 10 minutes before they closed a girl said we are closing and do you need any help. Not really what she said more how she said it. At this point I was on my way to the cashier. I purchased the shoes My wife made a comment on how horrible the experience was and she wasnt even shopping just playing on her phone. I found the same shoes for the same price online which I purchased tonight I am returning the golfsmith purchase out of principle. There is a reason there is a trend with the reviews, i will continue to use this store for demos and purchase other places.

Normally I just come to buy golf balls, gloves, etc.Last week I came to be fitted for a new driver. I cant remember the associates name, but he was extremely patient and helpful.I explained my typical issue off the tee, which was low ball flight and some inconsistency with an R11S. I had a few manufacturers in mind, and we went through some shots on the swing analyzer. We ended up fitting a 12 degree, Taylor Made M1 with 65 gram stiff shaft Kuro Kage. He also helped adjust the sliding weights to optimize launch angle and spin rates.I took this club out twice since purchase, and its been a game changer. The fitted M1 is more forgiving than my stock R11S, and I have translated this into two of my best rounds the last couple weeks, with a newfound confidence off the tee box. It was a worthwjile purchase. Not sure I would have had the same experience with another associate, so bravo to the employee who went out of his way to spend 30 minutes doing this right. I will be a repeat customer based on this experience last week.

I went into this “GolfSmith” location the other day and after shopping, I presented a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $30 or more. I was told that they could not take it because I was actually in a Golf Galaxy, not a Golf Smith. After pointing out that the big sign on the building says GolfSmith, I was made to feel like an idiot for not knowing that Golfsmith was sold to Golf Galaxy and they would not honor my coupon (See picture below to understand my confusion). I found this funny, because when I walk into a building that says Walmart, I usually find that it is indeed a Walmart and not a Target. You would think they would still honor the coupons until they changed the name on the building. A manager override or something could have been done. Horrible service and overall lack of business sense. It’s no wonder they were sold. I will not be back no matter what they call it. Dicks sporting goods is much more inconvenient for me to get to. But, at least they honor the coupons they mail me.

First off, I help companies generate reviews and manage their reputation online so it only makes sense that share my experience with the world when I have a really good experience or a really poor experience. This visit started off with me just going in to look at some used irons as I am getting back into golfing lately. Pretty early on a guy by the name of Chinda (GM) came over, picked up a set of irons and a driver and set me up with a colleague of his over on the test range. They were the Callaway XRs and felt amazing with each swing. I ended up putting them back on the shelf after about 25 swings so that I could go look at bags, golf shoes and putters. Along the way we ran into Chinda again and he was very helpful at each stop but not in a sales-y kind of way. This was the first time in many years that my fiance and I felt that someone wanted our business, that just doesnt happen anymore. This is rare for any purchase but especially for the bigger companies like Golfsmith. Not only did Chinda offer a discount on all of the items I was purchasing, he went in the back and got me a new Taylormade hat and a sample pack of Taylormade balls. I walked out there feeling like I got a fantastic deal and cant wait to go golfing tomorrow (already scheduled a tee time)It was great to see that good customer service still exists and most of all I will be going back to Golfsmith for all future purchases on my Golf gear! They created a lifetime customer and thats the true way to run a business and build loyalty with your customers.
