Great course layout and practice facility. Jimmy their head instructor is fantastic to work with. For a semi-private course their rates are higher than most, but deals can be found.

Spent 3 hours to play 8 holes because there was walkers in front of us who refused to let us pass. Would give 4.5 stars if i had been able to spend more time on the course than the gold cart. Luck of the draw i guess for playing the cheapest tee time. In addition to that had another group behind us yelling at us to tell the walkers to hurry up. 2 stars for the potential of the course.

Bermuda Greens are running great, the course is in the best shape I’ve seen in 15 years. Staff was very friendly and pace of play was fairly quick (but not rushed). Price was average for a round of 18.

Played on 1/5/20, after a serious amount of rain over the past two days I was pleasantly surprised how well the course drained. Greens were in great shape given were in winter. Fairways were not bad, some small areas where standing water was were a bit messy but, hey, thats winter golf. Great to have a practice range, not happy with the way range ball process are headed (cost is high even if youre playing - perhaps a discount if you play?), but that seems to be a trend with all courses that have a range. 8-(

I love this course, grew up playing it even, but they have ruined the reputation of this course. Over-booking and having no accountability from rangers has made this course impossible to play under four hours. While the sport of golf is trying to increase pace and make it more enjoyable for the weekly player, wild wood has gone in the wrong direction. Truly sad.

$34 for 9 holes with a cart!!! Ridiculous for a Monday around 12pm. The rangers are also very annoying riding around timing players on a slow day. The course is ok but nothing to brag about either. My party wont be back ever again.

Course didn’t post anything stating they had aerated or raked greens. Deep grooves and rake lines were in greens yet no notification online or in clubhouse. Would wait another 3 weeks before playing. Believe they offered discount rates in person but online (Golfnow) doesn’t reflect. Half tee boxes need some mowing.

Amazing staff and fun course to play!

In amazing condition after yesterdays rain- drains well, so carts were allowed on fairways. Greens had recently been aerated, then verti-cut, but werent bad. Staff always were friendly & courteous.

I never bother to write bad reviews, but oh my goodness! This course is just terrible. They charged me and an 11 year old $70 at 4:40pm in JULY for 9 holes and it was hard pan and crab grass and just terrible. If you have a prime location and charge high rates, run the darn sprinklers, put grass on the tee boxes that isnt a creeping type. put something other than hard clay to the fairways. Just wow............I feel like I got beaten up in an alley for $70. I apologize for being so harsh, but yikes..........

Played here twice, second time was to give them the benefit of the doubt. Very rude staff, horrible service. The course itself was ok for the area, a bit overprice comparatively. So many other choices in the area with much better reviews. Lochemere and Preserve at Jordan Lake are much nicer for same price or less. (And properly trained staff)

New greens are taking nicely. Should be a major improvement for this course. Other actions being taken to get the course in better shape. Many of the tee boxes which were grassless are coming around. Hopefully ownership will continue to make investments. Nice setup with good mix of different shaped holes. Pace of play can be on the slow side. Course really needs a ranger to keep pace of play up and make slower groups let faster groups play through. Other than that, course is definitely trending up. Very nice facilities, snack bar, range, and putting/chipping greens.

The course offered a great deal fo 18 holes and they really didnt say upfront that the course had temporary greens. It was only confirming it was visible and neither my wife or I saw it. Really was scam. Two par threes were completely closed and were added to par fives. Took us (a 4 some) three hours to play. Course and set up was a joke. They should have allowed us to play for free. Most disappointing round of golf in my life. Id give them a zero but they had water on the course. Shame shame shame. I have played this course before and would not recommend it to anyone. Was so glad to finish and go home. Very sneaky how they suck you in for an inexpensive round.

Moved to the area 2 1/2 years ago and have been a member for most of that time. It is the best club that Ive ever belonged to. The people make it so. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. I particularly like to see the way that they work with and encourage our youth having had 2 sons play the game. The course is in great shape just about always and it is challenging with fairly narrow fairways. They also run after hours events which my wife and I enjoy. There also seems to be a bunch of tournaments just about every month not only for members but also with our friends. I think that Wildwood is the best bang for your buck around. Could probably use some rangers, I used to be one when I lived at the beach, to move players along.

Decent course; great place and challenging holes. Can get slowed down to 5 hours and you will usually be paired up if only 2 of you show up. I was given a driving range pass for my birthday and found out they only make them good for 6 months. That is on me for not noticing they do this but if you pay for the driving range pass as a gift or for yourself, just realize they put an expiration date on using the driving range pass so you have a limited time to use what you PAID for.

I’ve never really felt compelled to write an online review until now. 2.5/5 because I quite like the course layout, and the course is usually in pretty good shape. However, the starter was BEYOND rude and unprofessional. We arrived 45 minutes before our tee time (2:00 on a Wednesday) to hit a few balls on the range. My dad hits a few and then goes back to the cart. It’s still 20 minutes until we’re scheduled to tee off, I’m still working on finishing the bucket of balls, and all of a sudden the starter is shouting “LET’S GO” at me from the tee box, and my dad is waving at me and saying that the starter is telling us to tee off. So first off, it’s simply unacceptable to kick someone off the driving range 20 minutes before their tee time when they’ve had to PAY for range balls, and on top of that it is completely rude to shout “LET’S GO” at a golfer from across the range. But don’t worry, it gets worse. I get back to the cart and the starter goes, “Are you ready?” Uh, wasn’t I just on the driving range 20 MINUTES BEFORE my tee time? So no, I’m not ready, and don’t throw that rhetorical BS at me, like if I’d said, “No I’m gonna keep hitting the range balls I’ve paid for, thank you very much,” you would’ve been completely fine with it. And on top of all that, he sticks two guys with us despite us asking to play as a twosome, since we prefer playing by ourselves, we play fast, and we didn’t want to be stuck at the course for five hours since we had plans later. My dad again says that we’d really like to play as a twosome and the course doesn’t look busy, and the starter sarcastically says, “Oh it is, I’ve got a full sheet.” Which was an outright lie by the way, the course was pretty open throughout our whole round. My dad and I are both sick of this ridiculous idea so many starters have that making every group into a foursome somehow speeds up play. We were riding and he’s sticking two guys walking with us, which will do nothing but slow us down. We could’ve teed off as a twosome right before them and been out of the way in just a few minutes. There was also a TWO HOLE GAP in between us and people that teed off before us, so it’s not like we would’ve immediately hit a slowdown if we had gone off as a twosome. The only major slowdown we encountered for the day (after we separated after two holes from the guys we got paired with) was a foursome of two women walking and two guys riding, which you know was another product of this lying moron of a starter. And a threesome teed off right behind us, so had we stayed as a foursome they wouldve been stuck waiting on us right from the beginning, again slowing things down even more. We finished well before the guys we initially got paired with, so there goes any remaining notion that being stuck with them would’ve sped things up. We were considering getting a membership here but there is no way that is going to happen if this is how we’re going to be treated. If we can’t play as a twosome on a Wednesday afternoon when the course isn’t that busy, (the whole reason we go on weekdays in the first place) then we’ll play elsewhere. And we’re definitely not going to be members at a course where the starter kicks you off the range well before your tee time, for no reason, then sticks you with people, again for no reason, despite asking numerous times to play as a twosome, and on top of everything is just downright rude and unprofessional. Its a bit of a shame, because like I said, I do actually like the course itself.

My wife and I have been members of Wildwood Green Golf Club for 20 years. Overall, the course has a challenging, tight layout that calls for shot-making over power. Given the fact that I would guess that the course sees about 50,000 rounds of golf each year, I think it is in great shape, especially the greens – the current superintendant works wonders in a really challenging environment.The practice facilities are somewhat limited (especially the driving range) due to the restrictions of available geography. Also, the pace of play can be less than ideal on weekend afternoons.The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly & professional. I am especially pleased with the “continuous improvement” that I have seen over the past few years – better bunkers, seeding of thin fairways, elimination of some wet areas, cart path maintenance, and great food – to mention just a few.Wildwood Green is certainly not a high-end country club, and it doesn’t pretend to be one. The course has a number of strengths, and some continuing opportunities for improvement. I think that for the price of membership, you get a pretty good deal, and I would recommend this course to anyone who loves to play golf. Overall, I think it does a pretty good job of living up to its motto – “if all you want to do is golf, then all you want is here”.

It is pretty busy place always. But finishing 4 hours and 30 minutes is not bad on Saturday. Also weather was great.

Course conditions are generally good. Staff is professional and friendly - they will go the extra mile to make your experience better. The course needs more marshalls to help eliminate slow playing times. For the money, one of the best deals in the Raleigh area!

I really enjoy the course. I only play it occasionally because it is challenging and I am not that good of a golfer. I did take a couple of lessons from Jeff Engelhaupt at the course and he helped me shave 15-18 strokes off my score. Ive been enjoying golf a lot more since then.

I’ve been a member for 8 years and I especially enjoy being a member of the Wild Oats Senior Men’s group ( 70+ members). 16 – 32 members get together three mornings a week for friendly tournaments.For new members this is a great way to meet other golfers and play some competitive golf. The management and staff provide our group a lot of support, keeping 70+ old _ _ _ _ _ happy is not an easy job.

Ive been a member for eighteen years and have experienced a lot of positive change at the course in the last five years. The staff are all excellent...extremely courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. The course itself, and particularly the greens, have been in the best condition ever over the past few years thanks to a superb groundskeeper. All of the sand traps have been redone over the past two years and are in excellent shape. Cart paths have been reworked in some places but more needs to be done in this area. Although the course experiences considerable play I have always been able to secure a tee time.The staff needs to be commended for providing an ever expanding list of activities to maximize the social interaction of members (poker, bingo, couples events, countless member tournament events, supporting a senior league, a nine hole after work hours league, junior events, etc.).With increasing membership, space constraints of the actual clubhouse building can be a little problematic but the staff do wonders with what they have ( e.g. merchandise area and grill). I would rate my overall experience as excellent.

Course is well maintained, very busy course. Ive had 5 hour rounds here. If you come here less than 4 golfers , chances are you are going to be paired up....which 90% of time stinks and its still slow. 3 of the 4 par 3s are some of the most challenging around. Range is ok, youll be hitting off of mats most of the time, good grill selections and they have a liquor license. Great golf professionals to help out with your game. Course is in great shape even with the winter weather. Wildwood Green has a very nice layout with a few holes that have some very well placed trees that will cause you to have to shape some of your shots. It is a very enjoyable place to play and the staff is excellent. Wildwood is one of the few courses around that allows you to walk and while the course does have its share of hills, it is layed out well for walkers. I have taken numbers lessons and attended some of their clinics and I have found them to always be beneficial.

I joined as a member just 2-3 weeks ago even though Ive been coming to Wildwood Green quite a few times in the past 2 years that Ive golfed. One reason is due to the proximity of the golf course to my house, but there are so many more reasons to come here. The course layout is challenging and fun, with tons of variety. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have also been taking lessons with John Budwine and he is great as a instructor. Highly recommend this golf course.

I have been a member at Wildwood Green for over 5 years. The course is a decision makers paradise due to its fair distances and multiple options to playing each hole. Each member of staff provides an equal opportunity to offer help and great service when needed. Throughout the year the conditions stay pretty consistent and the greens remain in great shape due to our superintendent.The only flaw to Wildwood Green is the pace of play and the amount of play that the course receives year round. The average round is generally between 4.5 and 5 hours because of the high population of golfers that are present at the course.For the membership fee and monthly dues Wildwood Green definitely offers the most opportunity to play and enjoy each and every time that you step on to the course.

Course condition is above average for a public/ private layout. The staff ranks right up there with any of the private clubs around town, always concerned about the quality of your golf experience. The food service is very good along with the cart staff keeping the carts clean and ready for use. The course maintenance staff really do an above average job with the condition of the course given the budget they have to work with. The one complaint is consistant slow pace of play during prime Saturday/ Sunday tee times which is mostly caused by guest and a few members who do not seem to know what pace of play means. Overall most improved over the last two years of operations!

The course is actually pretty good. However, every time Ive played here it takes 5-6 hours to play 18, but its always overbooked. Not worth the time or the money.

Paid 60 to golf 9 holes with my girlfriend which I am entirely okay with, however the starter literally forced us to golf with another twosome (who thank god were cool). We offered to let them go ahead and the starter stated its not an option. Initially I was upset and as I continued to play I became more and more frustrated with the situation. I WONT be returning

I played the course yesterday and was surprised at the vast range of mixed views. The staff was very professional and exceptionally friendly. The course was in very good condition and was challenging, but forgiving at the same time. I live on a course here in Durham, but will play here a lot more often to mix it up. Ignore the bad reviews and play a round here...you will thank me for the advice!

Im a week end warrior when it comes to golf and have played Wildwood several times over the years because it is right up the road. In the last 2 years the staff has become less and less accommodating to the point of being down right rude! Maybe because I am not a member but I would never pay for a membership to a place that would treat a paying customer in this manner. This summer, my Brother came to town and wanted to play a round so I called up to get a tee time. The guy on the phone was so rude, acted like it was a burden for him to deal with me, I thought it was a joke. I hung up and had my Brother call who got the same jerky attitude. I vowed to never step foot there again and we took our business elsewhere. Now, I just got a Groupon offer for a 1/2 off deal. Great job guys!!! I see your terrible attitude has run off so much business you have to give it away now.

Ive played Wildwood Green for 10+ years and the location is second to none.The course is not long but a combination of tight fairways, uneven lies and difficult greens make it anything but an easy play. The fairways, tee boxes and bunkers are usually in excellent shape. The greens are great in the offseason, but due to a lot of play (mainly people not fixing ball marks) and hot, dry summers the greens can show some wear in peak season. The course is very walkable which appeals to those looking to get some exercise and enjoy a round of golf. The practice facilties are decent, but the range is usually mats only, and I think most golfers prefer to hit off grass. The staff is friendly and always available for assistance if needed. Ive never taken a lesson from the pros on site (though I probably should) but I have heard nothing but good things from those who have. All in all youre not going to find a better course with a more convenient location in Raleigh without shelling out thousands of dollars to join a private club.

Ive been a member for 3 years and have seen continuous improvements each year with the fringes last year the only set back, but they were resolved. When many private courses lost their greens 2-3 years ago, WWG did not, THANKS! Kevin, Jeff, Zack, John and team always welcome you by name and its a club that offers everyone lots of event opportunities for friendly competition and to get to know other members. Like others have said, on weekends there are sometimes slow pace of play which it would help if we managed a little better to keep things moving. Here are a few recommendations to consider for improvements: 1. Improve grass on par 3s particularly 4 and 6. 2) continue to add some sand, mulch and native grasses along some fairways where there is challenging erosion and slopes 3) put a small putting green behind the driving range to putt a few before teeing off #1. 4) keeping improving the clothing in pro shop, liked the Greg Norman addition last year. Thanks for all the efforts the last three years and keep raising the bar. Thanks.

Anyone that has played on a fair condition public fee, daily access golf course will identify this one as poor. It is unfortunate, the layout is nice, but the conditions are terrible. I cant believe that anyone would consider the conditions of the greens and practice facility anything but poor.Back in 1995 this golf course was in almost as poor condition and they shut it down for a renovation the next year. It needs some TLC. If you seriously love the game of golf, you will just feel shame for the management of this facility. The practice putting green , sand trap and chipping area are mostly dirt. Ive given this place many chances over the past 20 years and most of the time I have been disappointed, but now a new low has been reached. It is time to look away and NEVER GO BACK TO WILDWOOD GREEN.I

Pretty decent course, improves bit by bit each season.

I have been a member at Wildwood since the moment I closed on my house 2.5 miles away in 2010. I was thrilled to find that Kevin Hamski had found his way there as he was a fantastic instructor and administrator at Lochmere, which was my previous club in Cary. Kevin has brought his same golf-focused approach to management Wildwood and provided the practical minded enthusiast a haven to get access to a challenging course of good quality course without gouging the members. As an avid walking golfer, I think Wildwood has the perfect layout with enough hills to keep you in shape but not wear you out after a round. There are very few holes with more than about 50-100ft. between them.The most glaringly appealing factor of Wildwood is the price. For a fraction of what other area courses charge, a member can enjoy unlimited greens fees, a reasonable range plan, and a full schedule of various golfing events. The members are a range of ages, skill levels, and backgrounds, all with genuine appreciation for the game without the need for a prestigious atmosphere in order to appreciate the joy of being outside, active, and competitive.Overall, for the sheer convenience of its location, Wildwood is a cant miss to play a satisfying round without having to make a whole day of it. But, for members, it is easily the best value in Raleigh if you are truly out to enjoy the game.

Wildwood has consistently held the patrons wallet to a higher standard than the course conditions. The management is all about max profit. I realize it takes money to run a golf course but there are better ways to approach your bread & butter than the hammer method. That just leaves (would be) loyal customers taking the cash you so desperately seek elsewhere. I do believe they have soften somewhat recently and the groupon offer is definitely more in line with the offering but it is yet to be seen if the staff is ready to appreciate every golfer that breaches the door. This attitude is not only at WWG but permeates the industry and in recessions...attitudes wont fly.

Fun course with a great open lay out

This is not a bad deal if you know someone who is a member. To walk 18 during the week its $25 and the greens are in pretty good shape most of the year. This course gets plenty of traffic so do not think you can get out there and play 18 holes in less than three hours.I have always putted well on their greens for some reason. I assume they are bentgrass with bermuda fairways and rough. The course is not extremely long and there is an easily gettable par 5 (440 yards). If you live in Raleigh this might be a good course to play.

Good clubhouse, the staff was phenomenal and very accommodating, the starter was very flexible and courteous, it was raining but the course was still doing well, a great challenge to play target golf, and my son and I finished in under 3 hours with only one small backup. I will be back any time Im in the Raleigh area.

Wildwood Green is the best golf bargain in the Raleigh, NC area. This is our fouth season as members and we really like this club. The course provides a challenging golf experience for novice golfers but is not so hard as to be overwhelming. The greens have just been aerated so they are a little rough right now, but past experience has been that they are excellent once they recover.Overall the course is in good shape after a rough (wet) winter, and will only get better as things green up. The overall facility is excellent - there is a practice green, practice chipping area, practice sand trap and a driving range as well as a nice grill and clubhouse. All are well maintained and very servicable for a reasonable membership fee.The staff is courteous, friendly, very knowledgable and very helpful. Overall, Wildwood Green should be experienced - Judge for yourself.

I started playing golf about one year and half ago, I have had great time, Staffs are great, and maintenance crew are doing a great job keeping the fairway and green in good shape, I would strongley recommend this golf course to everybady.

I went to talk with management about a serious issue and they were rude and unkind. They do not care to protect the customers with rules of the course to follow and the community residents property. Do not validate with your money or support this business! They are a stain among the local business community.

Ive been a member for 2 years now, and have been playing the course for years prior to joining.The positives: If you are a walker, this is a great place to play. The course is well designed for those on foot, with a nice balance of flat areas and hills to climb. Each nine ends with an uphill walk, however, so youd better save a little energy for the finish. The staff is excellent: courteous, knowledgable andfriendly -- and very accomodating. The tournaments and events Ive participated in at WWG are always fantastic and lots of fun. As with many courses, Wildwood has its share of regulars, full of color and good nature. Play there enough, and youll start seeing some familiar faces. The course is also very fun -- the layout is nice and challenging without being too difficult. It is a par 70 with 2 par 5s: one that is a full 3-shot hole, and another that can be reached in 2 with a good drive.The negatives: I love Wildwood, but no review would be complete without negative commentary. My main consistent complaint would be the pace of play in the summertime. Im not sure if this is due to overbooking or layout, but it seems that you can count on a longer than normal round during peak periods of play. A 5+ hour round seems routine when the weather is nice.Overall, Wildwood is a great walking course with a handful of challenges sprinkled onto an otherwise relaxing layout. If you like fun courses -- and if you are a walker, in particular -- give this place a chance.

I have been a member since 1994 and would say my overall experience has been very positive. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Id say they genuinly care about the members and want to do their best to make everyone happy.I have participated in the member events since the beginning and have made some lifelong friendships along the way. The Wildwood neighborhood is closely knit and there is a strong sense of community, which extends to all members.The course has an excellent layout, with a good variety of holes. It plays fairly and with a variety of challenges which make each round enjoyable. The course conditions vary from what I would term as fair to excellent at times. The greens are generally good and at times are outstanding, sometimes putting pretty slow and occasionally quite fast.On the negative side, most aggravating issues are caused be the members themselves. Unrepaired ball marks and unraked bunkers are maddening. Occasionally, slow play is an issue and I wish the club would be more aggressive in asking players to maintain position.When I first joined the club in 1994, the member events had excellent participation. That participation has declined considerably. I dont know the cause, but it may involve a variety of issues including a bias toward NET formats which punish better players and reward folks who have aquired substantial handicaps.Overall, membership has been a very positive experience. I look forward to the planned course improvements and upcoming member events. Most of all I enjoy the friendly family environment at the club.

I have been a member of Wildwood Green Golf Club for over 3 years now. The course has a challenging layout, the staff are professional and friendly and the members are some of the best people Ive met. The golf course is in great shape for the Spring, Summer and Fall Seasons. Winter play is poor due to the fairway conditions - usually mud or dirt with a little dormant bermuda grass. I would give an excellent rating to this course if they would plant fescue or some other grass to fill in while the bermuda is dormant during the winter months. The greens overall are kept in great shape but should be cut and rolled more often. Bogeys Grill gets an A rating with their food quality, service and selection.One other thing that is disappointing is the driving range at this golf club. Rarely, and I mean rarely do you hit off actual grass so you are confined to the matts. When they let you hit off actual grass usually you are restricted to irons only which is aggrevating when you want to warm up with your irons, driver and other clubs.The member tournaments and events are outstanding at this golf club. These tournaments and events are well planned and executed and tons of fun!My overall experience as a member here has been wonderful. We all have things on our wish list that would make this an even better experience. For the price of membership and what you get in return is hard to beat. I would recommend this golf club to anyone who loves to play golf, enjoys club tournaments and events and wants to play with people of quality and skill.

Wilwood Green GC is a great loction for those in the N Raleigh area and has easy acces to 540. They lay out is designed to make the golfer hit good shots, but has some hole to Grip It-N-Rip Tt. Excellen practice area included sand trap, pitching area, putting green and driving range (drivers allowed most of the time). Club house includes excellent grill and a pro-shop.Greens and fairways are in pre-spring condition, greens sanded (some seemed a little excessive) and fairways prep for new spring grass. Staff knowledgable and friendly and ready to servie the golfer no matter the level of play.If golfs all you want in a club, then this is the place to be.

Ive been a member at WWG for almost 20 years and recently moved into the neighborhood, and while its no TPC Wakefield or Prestonwood, it has a fun layout, and its definitely one of the walker friendliest courses in Raleigh. The course goes in cycles as far as condition is concerned, and is definitely at the mercy of weather and amount of play, but when things are going its way, the course is a charmer. Look to play April-June for the premium conditions, and then again towards the end of summer in early Oct. Conditions tend to taper off between July-Sept. due to dry conditions and amount of play. I have to agree that pace of play on weekends has been an issue, but theyve recently been starting play on the back nine, and #10 being one of the toughest holes, followed by #11, one of the easiest holes, tends to put more space between groups. There are practice facilities, but the condition for the putting and chipping area tend to fade as summer progresses, especially when kids are out for summer and spending 8 hours a day practicing. I sometimes feel like the price for playing as a non-member is high, but if youve seen how busy the course gets during prime season, youd understand why they feel they got the pricing right. The staff is great, and you can tell that they truly appreciate their members. If you live in North Raleigh, and are looking for a convenient and reasonably priced course to join, then its almost a no brainer. All the other courses are either too far away for convenience, or just cost too much to join. If you are an occasional golfer looking for public links, then WWG is pretty much the only choice in North Raleigh, though there are plenty of other options in surrounding areas of Raleigh that offer good golf at a fair price, but Id definitely put WWG in the rotation.
