At 10pm Im up top at the Washington Park whatever it is, sorry, I just havent been up here since I was with my wife 10 yrs ago. Remember when this monument wasnt even built. As you can see there is nobody down town on a Saturday night when normally it or any estblishment would packed. You can normally here everything up here and see it and its silent. I am still amazed at how calm people are being and the small part of downtown which has many places completely closed.

Pro tip: Put the shine on Washington’s nose. Portlanders rub the nose when passing through to ward off evil spirits and cure hexes.

Located within Washington Park, amongst the Rose Garden, Holocaust Memorial & Japanese Gardens, this monument made me stop & ponder the feats of Lewis & Clark, led by Sacajawea, the best guide known to history! The accomplishments are awe-inspiring, so take a photo, and appreciate their work. Set in lush green surroundings of the park, a beautiful spot.

It’s a column. Not much to say, but historically it’s important and it’s a good view and a start for the Washington Park itself.

A 1908 built 10.5 m tall column in granite n bronze in Washington park in the memory of the two US army volunteers Lewis and Clark for their 1804 to 1806 long expedition. You see it as you near the Washington park from east side.. its surrounded by lush greenery. Favorite selfie spot for the park visitors.

As a history dork and especially a lover a Lewis and Clark, all of their statues, memorials and monuments are special but this one is unique as it marks the end of their journey. It was humbling to stand there. Its neat that theyve positioned it at a turn around so that people who come down that way are forced to see it. Whether they know what it is or not, they are introduced to a little bit of history.

This is one small section of a much larger park. It is a great spot to take a picnic lunch with the kids, catch a great view of the city and enjoy some shade. There is a small old play structure, and a few picnic tables. For those interested there is some history here too!

Beautiful place in Washington Park to sit and read a book next to some restrooms in a shaded area. this is a very historic part of Portland and this monument does not disappoint. You can sit here and gays over downtown from the Westside above the buildings towards the river well being graced with the sounds of the lively Rose garden just a short distance below. The buildings are Grand indecor and made of brick similar to other buildings from the turn of the 20th century. If youre from Portland then youre familiar with this park. If youre not come on by and take a look :-)
