This is a short walk to a lovely waterfall. There are some light slopes, but the trail is well marked, well maintained.I really appreciate all the signage.Wear bug spray. It is very buggy, lots of mosquitos. Having said that, still take the walk. Its lovely.Take your dog. Take your family. Dip your toes?

This place is such a nice little escape within city limits. Took the kiddos here and spent a good 6 hours walking the different trails and seeing all the beautiful nature. The trails are decent, expect some mud though. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to check out some new sights without driving clear out of town.

It is an easy access from one of Portland main drags and one is quickly transported into a wooded wonderland that seems far from the urban space it is carved out of. Bravo to Portland and Tom Jewell for the vision to preserve this area.

Nice little get away within city limits. Sure youre never far enough to hide the sounds of traffic. But youre at least in the woods, and out of sight. The trails are plentiful and fun to walk/run on.They recently put in a natural gas pipeline over by the Westbrook street access, which is unfortunate. Kind of ruins the beginning. But the rest is still in good shape.

So peaceful, and really well maintained. Love this place and all its serenity. This where you can really escape the city feel without even having to leave the city.

Great mini hiking inside the city. Paths are well-marked though maps are a little vague and the blazes arent consistent. Bring bug spray.

Short and sweet. The beautiful Jewel waterfall is a bit tricky to get to with the ice in this moment, and with the mud factor, not recommended for those faint of heart or unsteady on their feet.Cans, food wrappers, plasticized dog detritus could end up in a trash can at end of walk, if there was one...

Always a treat to go out and explore the woods of Portland Maine with your dog or just by yourself. Plenty of trails and woods to get lost in for a while

It would be even better if the bikers would stay out of it. they reck the trails .they just went through and put crushed rock in and the bikers have already reck it and drove the rock under. So you cant walk it you have to go around into the woods to avoid the muddy mess.

Best part = Jewell Falls, empties into Fore River estuary. Mostly shaded paths up & down slight ridges on well kept trails. One section traces the mouth of the historic C&O canal. Winter ok for snowshoe & nordic skiing. Summer good for mountain bikes. Hike anytime. Tick zone.

Very clean and trails are easy to find and navigate. I only had a short amount of time and it was just enough do a quick jog/walk to Jewell falls and back. The parking area could use some attention and I wish it was clear if it is ok to cross the tracks and use the trail there. There was alot of birds and squirells to keep it amusing to listen to and I am sure if you took a moment to read you would surely see alot of nature in action! I will definitely keep this on my list of places to return to!
