Had to park 1/3 mile from the lighthouse and walk the rest of the way. The drive to the private island is very bumpy (loose gravel). Residents were very polite and waved hello. Just try to respect their private properties as you walk through. Well worth it, amazing views and even on Labor day there were no crowds.

You now have to walk roughly 1/3 mile since the security station prohibits unlicensed vehicles. Well worth it, just respect the home owners property and dont walk through their yards.

We took our mountain bikes on a ride out to see the lighthouse. They had a lot of neat signs allowing us to know what we were seeing. I did not know it was so historical.

The oldest operating wooden lighthouse in America. Built in 1842. It is surrounded by Fort Andrew. The site is maintained by volunteers from Project Gurnet and Bug Lights..
