Union Transfer is a great live music venue.I’ve traveled here from out of state for a few shows now, and each one has looked and sounded great, and was a great overall experience. The venue itself is a great space; the acoustics don’t have any sound issues, the space is wide open with some balcony-type space above, and the bar is opposite the stage against the back so its out of the way and a bit elevated to be able to watch the band clearly as well. This space is also small enough to have an intimate show where you can get right up to the stage and watch if you like.An added plus is the surrounding area; lots of opportunities for food and drink immediately around the venue make it easy to hang out before or after a show.I will definitely see more shows here in the future.

I’ve only come to this venue to see of Montreal about 8-12 times. The venue itself is beautiful, there is a lot of standing room and balcony room. There are two bars that connect and viewing room from the bar area. The tickets (depending on band) are usually pretty inexpensive and usually start on time. The line to enter always moves pretty fast and there is normally parking pretty close.

This venue is easily the one of the best places to catch a concert, especially in the city of Philadelphia. Prices are usually very affordable, its a great setup, great sound, and the mixture of a large crowd, yet intimate experience.

Great venue with more them enough room. You can get up close with the bands and also have enough room in the back to stretch your legs. If you’re thinking about taking your teen, there’s plenty of space for parents to hang out and still be able to keep an eye on the kiddos. The staff are very friendly and cleanliness is above average for a club/bar. Go have some fun!! Pricing is good too.

Easy to get to with convenient parking behind the venue. Picked up tickets at will-call and the security to get in was quick. Forgot to bring earplugs, but they have a vending machine in the lobby selling them - I thought that was cool! Great venue for live music. Will certainly return.

I love this venue! The layout is similar to the Electric Factory or the Fillmore, but its smaller and cozier. Even if you hang at the back you can still have a great view of the show. They always have plenty of tasty local brews on tap as well, so you really cant go wrong.

Seeing Aurora live March 9th was absolutely mind blowing. AMAZING venue, great staff to help out. Theres a bar in the back for the 21+There is also standing room on the first floor and the second floor balcony. Like most venues it does get a little warm so be prepared for it to heat up a bit if theres a large crowd. Also parking in the back of the venue but there is a fee, theres also metered parking on the street.

My favorite music venue in Philadelphia. A really cool space, converted from a former Spaghetti Factory! The sound is great, and the space is organized so its easy to find a good spot to see the stage. Its got a nice bar space in the back where you can take a breather, or sit out an opener youre not interested in. This venue hosts a lot of indie acts as well as some more popular bands and singer/songwriters. The ticket prices are always really reasonable and its not a Ticketmaster venue which I love!

I parked on spring garden and walked a few blocks rather than using their lot so I’m not sure how that is. Def a good show and I’ll def return.

Awesome venue. The building is an absolutely perfect setting for more intimate concert going experiences. Aesthetically quite pleasing, sound is great, staff was friendly. More than one bar for your adult beverage needs. Open floorplan with upstairs and downstairs general admission standing. Not a bad view to be had. Easy enough to get to in the big city of Philadelphia as well.

Decent looking place, with 3 bars if you happen to drink. Nice size venue for events, 1,000 person capacity but mainly a standing venue with a few seats on the sides in the back sides and balconies. I give it only 2 stars because some of the staff are rude and ignorant. The Manager was the only person competent on site and Security guy with a ponytail. If you happen to have an early VIP for an artist with Will Call tickets, please print your tickets at home or get them mailed if your not local because 5 out of 7 days of the week the box office doesnt open until 5pm.

One of my favorite philly venues. Its a perfect size since popular artists play there but it isnt a huge arena and still feels intimate. Not great sound quality and limited space for the amount of tickets sold (nobody goes upstairs so the floor is packed). But their drink service is great. The venue has made some changes over the last year and it seems like they make a lot of changes to their policies on the fly. I went to a 2 night stand this weekend and the first night they allowed the usual smoking outside. But on Saturday without any notice they prevented people from going outside to smoke. Also the lines for entry and for will call are much longer than they were before.

I really liked this place. Pretty easy to get to. I like old buildings. I could have spent a few hours just photographing it. Sound was really good. [Mixed quite well. Saw Ingrid Michaelson last night] The only problem for us was my wife has a bad back. Also, she cant stand for long periods. If you have the same problem. Get there early. Go into the bar [assuming youre old enough] & go up the short flight of steps to the small bar. There are chairs there. She still did good. [Not too much pain today.] We loved the intimate setting. Nice space, nice atmosphere. Horrible place for a metal show due to poor sound quality. Do not go here for a metal show because either the PA system blows for rock/metal guitar or the people there do not know how to set the system up for metal bands. This venues sound is better-suited for pop contemporary, hip-hop, and lighter music. The sound at Union Transfer made a top metal band sound like their guitars were buried or hiding; sort of analogous to many speakers and sound systems/stereos nowadays: many are not good for rock/metal. Go elsewhere for a metal show or youre wasting money.

Best venue in the area. Everything ran smoothly and on time from doors open to close. The venue itself is easy to get to and theres an official parking lot directly behind the building thats secure and affordable (you know, for a lot) that makes parking a no brainer. Sound system was great, employees were friendly and polite (!!!), and bar service was quick and reasonably priced. Signage is clear throughout the place, and bathrooms were clean as hell and offered plenty of stalls. Im not sure what else you could possibly need in a venue.

One of the most enjoyable and accessible live music venues in Philadelphia. I’ve seen just about every genre of music performed at UT (from folk to metal to hip hop and everything in between) and, each time, the sound has been very good. The beer selection and pricing is certainly better than average for a live music venue, and the bartenders do a good job of managing the crowds. Spring Garden Street is wide enough to get to the venue by Uber or Lyft, but, you’d be better off taking SEPTA to a nearby bus or subway stop. There’s also some solid places for food around the venue, so, make sure you explore before and after the shows you attend!

Excellent music venue and bar. If anything its almost too nice. Caught Sharon Van Etten yesterday at UX and found it is still a great place to see a show. We found a free parking spot easy and got through will call and security quickly. The show was sold out but we were far from packed in, and it was a piece of cake to get a really good (but not cheap) beer at the bar. The space is intimate with a variety of ways to watch. Tickets were only $25 for SVE and Amen Dunes was just $18 last week.Great musicians, reasonable prices, excellent views without being packed in like cattle. I do love a good divey venue with some edge too and UX is not that kind of place, but its hard to find fault with the experience here.

But both times Ive been here Ive walked away begging for the place to just be lifted via crane and dropped in Boston. They have affordable parking in a spacious lot right out back. They have an incredibly friendly staff. They have a fully fledged lobby for you to hang out in before and during the show. They sell delicious pretzels and treats at an affordable price. Theres tons of places to go - two elevated sectioned off platforms on either side of the floor, an elevated bar in the back, and a sizable mezzanine. Viewing options are limitless.
