You will need snowshoes or skis to go further this time of year, but the drive up to the base of the mines is very enjoyable. Plenty of places to pull off and snap some photos while you journey up. I met campers and bikers and cyclists along the way. You may see a few gophers and plenty of magpies. The water rushing down from the summits creates many a waterfall which adds to the sound and ambience.

A gem in the backyard of the valley. Although the mine is closed to up close driving access (winter only, or untill snow has melted, June?), the outer parking area is open and used as a jumping off area for cross country skiing, snowshoers, and the like. Beautiful views.

Great place for hiking, and photos. The kids had fun, the wife had fun picking blue berries. It was a wonderful drive up. I highly recommend everyone going.

Even though its closed this time of year, the area is still stunning. The old mine building still stand. The entire area was covered in snow and the designated play areas were full of children or every age scouting on sleds and having lots of fun a great place to visit and have fun.

We had a blast. Several parking areas to pick from, we chose the one w no snowmachines since we had kids and a touchy pitty dog.
