I watched a play in blackbox here for the first time and was blown away! A solid production, a solid cast, a solid director, and a solidly wonderful theatre tucked away in the heart of Orlando. A beautiful gem that is worth finding!

This theater is very nice. The seats are comfortable and you gave a good view from any of the seats. The stage was awesome. The way it opened and closed really separated the scenes but kept the story moving. They have a bar that sells drinks and snacks. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was really impressed with or whole experience. The show we saw, Hand To God, was really funny and well acted.

Great little theatre. I was in Orlando for work and found this by chance when I googled things to do. I saw Pride & Prejudice and it was wonderful. I’ve read the book several times and seen movie adaptations even more. But I still was laughing, and even anxious for the Bennet sisters, and a little misty eyed when love found it’s way ️️ The audience enjoyment was palpable.

My girlfriend and I came here for a performance of Fun House. The theatre is nestled upstairs in that hodgepodge of businesses on Church Street. The ticket people were very friendly and the lobby was nice and spacious so the tons of people in line for drinks didnt block the walkways. The bathroom was across the hall and had these cute little cows that act as your hands to trigger the sensors on the sink to the water keeps flowing. I thought that was neat.Back in the lobby, there was a great little collection of sticky notes that have donation amounts on them as well as what that donation could mean to the theatre company ($20 = can of paint, $50 = fancy lightbulb, etc). I thought that was really nice. Its not just blindly donating, its knowing what your donation can do to help the production. The performance itself was great. All of the actors were so into their parts and the singing was nice, too. Im not a theatre expert, so I cant go into anymore detail, but I really enjoyed it. I donated a little bit after the performance, and I will gladly continue to do so as I frequent this place. I am so glad I discovered it.

Patron and technician. The quality of productions are excellent. The actors are a slew of equity and non, with alot being sourced from the Parks.Deserves more patronage, in a lovely part of downtown, stop at Rusty Spoon before a production, and get the Haystack.

Wonderful place to watch a play. Every seat is excellent within this micro venue. Friendly staff. Limited but tasty snacks and beverages at reasonable prices. A true City of Orlando gem in the heart of downtown. Make a night of it by dining first at any of several cloae by restaurants.

This Id the second play Ive seen at Mad Cow, and I left early both times. The first was The Three Sisters, which was directed and performed badly. There was no life in that play. Then last night was Heartbreak House. Unaccentrd American accents would have been preferable to the manifold attempts to sound British which failed dreadfully. Everyones entrances and exits made me think the next one to enter was going to ask Tennis, Anyone? The theater was unbearably hot, so with that and all the rest, first intermission was time to leave the building.

The Mad Cow Theater has never given me a single problem or issue. I had a potential issue once and the staff was quick to help and resolve the problem as well as gave my +1 and I free drinks. The staff and actors are friendly, kind, and hilarious. I have had a great time with every visit! Thank you for all of the hard work!

We had a fantastic time at Mad Cow Theater. We saw Silent Sky and it was amazing. I loved the fast quippy flow paired with the stiff formal costuming and stance of the period they were portraying as female scientists clawed their way to equality. Go see it, you wont regret it.

If you are looking for a great outing during this holiday season -- or any season -- go to the Mad Cow Theatre in Orlando and see Born Yesterday. Its hilarious, magnificently acted, and the set is fabulous. Although written in 1946, it is amazingly relevant to today. Go, go, go!

Very professional and comfortable theater experience. We had a blast seeing the The Mystery of Edwin Drood which we learned was a very rare opportunity because the director acquired the rights to this rendition of the play straight from the playwrite; which is the only way to get it. The whole cast was incredible and had a lovely and very lively band supporting them. I would highly recommend any show you are interested in seeing here!

Mad Cow is a smaller professional theater with two performance spaces. Bu dont let its size fool you, the productions that they mount there are professional quality, and I have enjoyed every single show Ive seen there, which is close to 10 shows now. The staff there is polite and positive. So take a risk and see a show, art is good for you!

Shows are great. Access, particularly for handicapped, is awful due to Church Street closures after 5:00 or 5:30. Even matinees can run into this. There are ways around it but you have to somehow figure out the system. one of which is to not park where they get a discount. By the way, if you are one of the first-timers wandering the street looking for the place, suggest to them that they put the number 54 on the window.

Mad Cow was great at the previous location. The move to the new location changed the atmosphere for the worse. It now seems to be about pleasing the big donors and ignoring the folks who have been loyally attending for years but werent able to contribute as generously. The productions are inconsistent. I invited a newcomer to Dreamgirls and was horribly embarrassed! I purchased premium seats which apparently meant the second row all the way next to the exit. Our view of the stage was obstructed which didnt matter much since there was no set design. Moreover, some of the singers were inaudible. This proved to be an issue for a subsequent production, The Light in the Piazza. I wish they would just use a sound system. It is so irritating to have to strain to hear the lyrics. Mad Cow still produces some quality productions: Table Manners, Venus and Fur, Sunday in the Park with George. Still, others fall flat: Dreamgirls, Death of a Salesman, Other Desert Cities (season opener? really?).My friends and I most recently visited Mad Cow on what was initially advertised as a Christiane Nolls cabaret show. At some point this must have been changed to a fundraising night which included paltry hors doeuvre, a couple tablespoons of wine served in a plastic cup, and the revealing of the new name of the black box theater since the Black Box Theater is somehow insufficient. About an hour and a half later we were seated in The Harriet only to have to sit through what came across as a high school talent show. No offense to several of the acts as some of them were quite good, but nothing flowed together and the emcee didnt help matters much. Finally! Christiane Noll is announced! She enters the stage and sings too songs as beautifully as I have ever heard them sung and then she says see you tomorrow night and exits the stage! My entire group was disappointed, mad, and appalled that an event which was initially advertised as a cabaret show was merely a poorly put together preview show.I attempted to call the next day to order tickets to the real Christiane Noll cabaret only to be told their computer systems were down and that I was to reserve the tickets online. Of course, reserving tickets online requires a fee per ticket as well as a processing fee. I am a student and these extra charges are costs I can ill-afford. Oh yeah, dont forget to bring $10 to pay for parking. I discussed this situation with my group and we decided that enough is enough and we will not be returning to the Mad Cow next season. We were disappointed we didnt get to see Christiane Noll, but the recent changes at the theater have left us feeling unappreciated and not valued even though we have been loyally attending since the early 2000s.Hopefully Mad Cow is able to get back on its feet, pay its debt, and recapture the spirit that has been lost. After all, now that there are no theaters left to be named after the big donors, the little people may be all they have left.
