I’m new to golf and my boyfriend called ahead to see if the range was open to the public, they told us yes. Went to the facility and was “greeted” by less than friendly staff who said that the driving range was closed for hand picking. They did say we could play after some grief but then were going to charge $20 to rent a set of clubs that would be small enough for me. We decided to head to another place to spend our time!

Used to play out here like 6 years ago and since hearing it was terrible I hadn’t been back until yesterday. We had a mini tour (professional)event yesterday and I was thoroughly surprised at the shape it was in. Decent fairways and greens were pretty darn good. Not saying it was Augusta but I’d play there any day with the shape it’s in and I’m very biased when it comes to bad courses. It was fun and worth playing.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of playing this place for the first time yesterday. not sure how it gets an overall 4 star review on Google, but Im here to tell you it is anything but that. After pulling into the parking lot, the first thing you are greeted with is a large blue tarp covering a sizeable portion of the roof of the clubhouse. That should have been enough to make us turn around, but we didnt.I will just preface this with the fact that both myself and the person playing with me yesterday are not great golfers by any means, but there are certain things you would come to expect from a golf course where this place falls short.1. Signage is poor. We parked in the main parking lot and walked in the doors of what is apparently the restaurant, we had to work our way through the building and downstairs to find the pro shop. Once we left the proshop and had our bags loaded up, we then could not figure out where the first hole was, thankfully someone else who had been there before pointed us in the right direction. This was also true for the 10th hole, as we could not immediately find it. There are signs for other holes, and directions that guide you under tunnels, and for the driving range, but the 1st and 10th holes, nothing.2. This place does not drain well, AT ALL. While in the proshop we were informed that it would be cart path only. We abided by the rules, but quickly found out that the cart path doesnt actually exist throughout the entire course, it just ends, so we followed it to the best of our ability. We both lost balls in the fairway yesterday on multiple occasions, colorful (yellow and pink balls) right in the middle of the fairway, just gone. Again, it was that wet the ball would go up, come crashing to the ground, and leave a crater sized hole in the fairway, we spent time looking for our balls, but only had a 25% success rate in actually finding them. I wasnt aware how much rain that side of Orlando had received the night before, but where I live (East Orlando) it barely rained, so I didnt think this would be something Id need to be concerned with. We both left very muddy yesterday, my clubs and cleats were filthy.3. The tee boxes for the most part are terrible (see the picture that Ive included of the 15th or 16th hole as an example).4. The fairways werent much better than the rough, you could see on some holes that there was a defined fairway, but it was not manicured at all, it just happened to be a little shorter than the rough, but was like hitting out of my backyard.5. The putting greens were the lone bright spot, MOST of them were okay, not spectacular at all, but not the worst Ive ever seen. For the price ($32 through golfnow) this place should be ashamed. There are a few other courses in the Orlando area (winter pines for example) that are much nicer and charge the same or less with a much better experience.

I played here two years ago and thought it was right for the price. It was affordable and was in decent condition. Perfect for the average golfer. Now, it could be free and it wouldnt be worth the trip:1. Half of the course was dirt, including the fairways and rough.2. The other half was overgrown.3. Greens were in TERRIBLE condition. As if putting wasnt already difficult. The greens were filled with divots and dead spots. I understand Florida heat takes a toll on greens, but this was obviously neglect. Unless you hit every approach shot within a foot, you can count on the conditions to cost you a few strokes for the round.4. We made the turn at about 5:45. We wanted to buy some water and use the restroom. Clubhouse was already closed up.5. Two sprinklers on the back 9 were running, one over a tee box (had to tee off further up) and one on a green (didnt even finish the hole).Overall, it is very evident the owners and workers do not take any pride in the condition of the course.

It was easy to book and the catering staff the day of the event went over and beyond to make sure everything flowed well. They helped with every detail and accommodated all my requests. Needs a lot of work in order to earn one star. Encountered a grounds crew on one of the greens while we were trying to play. It’s more of a cow pastures than a golf course. I rate it with Legends and Stony Brook West (both overgrown and closed) which I’m afraid is theUltimate fate of what was in the 1990s a very good course.

Review №13

This is a hard review to write. I have some fond memories of this golf course from when I used to play a lot more. But I gave up the game back in 2012 for various reasons and recently picked it up again due to the pandemic. I was just looking for something to do. So I bought new clubs and have been practicing/playing quite a bit. I decided to play this course with some friends.Let me preface this by saying the course has no control over the state of the area surrounding the course. Metrowest isnt what it used to be. But its still a nice area. However, theres nothing they can do about the What-used-to-be-a-million-dollar-home with an obviously long-broken awning and a warped hot tub cover or the Luxury Condos with beer bottles in the grass outside their patio next to the course. But I have to admit, I was a bit saddened by the condition of the course. Its still just as challenging as I remember. There are a couple of completely blind approach shots, lots of elevation changes, some well placed water hazards and some tight areas due to residences. But it doesnt overshadow the state of the course itself. Most of the sand traps were at least 30% weeds and barely any sand probably in years. The rough was rough, but too much so. If Im 10 off the fairway, I shouldnt be hitting off grass worse than my backyard. I almost drove through a few tee boxes because they were in a worse state than the nearby rough. And those greens were not good. Comically slow and in some cases as much as 25% weeds near the holes (not on the fringes).I didnt pay a crazy amount to play today, so I wont be a jerk and give it lower than a 3. I actually had fun today. But that may have been more about my playing partners than the course. I have a few other buddies that would not have been happy today. Truth be told, I would rate it a 2.5 if I could. Maybe even a 2.25.So I have to be honest, that its just okay. And its really a shame. With some care, that could be one of the best courses in Central FL. Unfortunately, I dont see that happening. And not because of the workers or anything like that. Theyre working hard. (Although, I kind of wish the guy cutting the rough would stop driving when hes only 40 away and Im obviously about to hit a ball.) Central FL is a very competitive market for golf. Even a courses A game could still lose out to some website selling tee times for $20 not far away. Its a fickle market here.Good luck, Metrowest Golf Course. Ill probably still play you again. Its the home of my first ever birdie!

Terrible course.1. They ran out of carts at 10:30am. This delayed tee off by 30+ minutes as we waited for people to come back in.2. No ranger on the course, so people skipped the lines waiting for the carts. No people grouping either.3. Bathrooms are code locked, and they dont give you the code when leaving so we had to call the clubhouse for the codes when we need to use the bathroom. 4. They had the sprinklers running at multiple holes and fairways! I mean at least 6 holes plus had multiple sprinkles going full tilt.5. They dont have hole maps at each hole, so you have to use your GPS phone. For the cost > $30, this was not a good experience.

Fairways and greens are in awful condition, sprinklers running creating more mud. 25-30 MPH winds and they were fertilizing with a tractor. The fertilizer created a dust cloud that gagged you. Green fairways and playable greens.I’ll come back to update my review WHEN you do.Update: I’ve probably played my last round there. The fairways, tee boxes, and greens have somehow gotten worse and the last straw was hole number 10. The pin was at the end of the fairway. Not even on the green. It’s a wasted hole. Dont believe the pics on the web-site or the google rating. I assure you the course is NOTHING like the pics and definitely NOT a 4 star course. I have not played the course in 2 years, and was SHOCKED when I played it this past weekend. What has happened to this course? Used to be great. The top right of the green on #11 is literally weeds. I mean they literally mowed weeds to create the green. The tee boxes either have not grass or are covered in weeds. The bunkers are unkempt. You cant play the course without placing in the fairways. The greens are like playing plinko. The facilities are totally run down too. The big putting green is now over grown. The chipping area.. overgrown. Even the range doesnt look like it has been mowed in 6 months. I dont even know why this course is still open? Is it a contractual obligation? I cant think of any other reason. I would liken the course to that very attractive actress that got involved with the wrong crowd and you then have just drugged out mugshots to look at now. The greens are bare in large sections on most holes. They just started rehab on them so for their sake, I hope it takes. They kept saying they just hired a new greenskeeper who is going to fix it but charged regular price and when I called they said they were in good shape. My group arrives and wasn’t till we hit the first green that we realized what was to come. The fairways were patchy in spots but not a deal breaker. Tee boxes were pretty beat up but the greens were the biggest issue. We actually were counting the number of times the ball bounced on the way to the hole when we putted. The cups were also VERY poorly cut. Most cup inserts were .5 inches or less from the top lip. Had one guy hit a solid putt that bounced straight out of the hole because of that. Will be a while before we return and hope they plan for a long road ahead.

Its been about a month since my wedding and just came back from my honeymoon and wanted to rate my experience with this vendor. The crew was very helpful and I can see they tried to do their best to work around the kinks of the day. But booking Metro West Golf club as my wedding vendor was the worst choice I could have made.I was promised that a second room could be used during my wedding day for the appetizers serving, bartender, and any additional props I brought in. Minutes before the ceremony I was informed by my bridesmaids they were water leaks in the room and everything was moved out and closed off from the party, which I feel violates their contract. For the rate of this vendor I would think that they would maintain their roofing so leaks don’t occur during events. I also found it disrespectful that while I was preparing myself in the lockers, other clients were allowed to scope out the location for their booking. Please do yourself a favor and book else where. Just find a location that atleast has solid contingencies in place that cherishes your special day.
