It is a truly exceptional place to shop. They have so many supplies and at all different price ranges! I felt so excited to fine all kinds of different paints and canvases. I’ve already came back three times in less than a week. The service is wonderful. They have a new regular now.

Great place to stock up on Rhodia paper and fountain pens. Picked up a Pilot VP in EF at a fair price (purchased one online a year ago). The employee who helped me was more than willing to let me take a closer look at what they had, and she was knowledgeable. Glad to receive a teacher discount.All in all, great store!

Just visited this great store this week, such a wide selection everything you would need for any style of painting or drawing, you can frame pictures, pickup some new puzzles, some great gifts to give to friends and family. The service was wonderful with very friendly staff, this is a great business that deserves support. We were there to buy some paints to paint rocks, the paints are on sale right now, so go have a look and maybe get your rock painting on.

I absolutely love this place. I have now brought in at least eight poster prints of varying sizes to be matted and framed and at least another four to be matted or double matted. Ive easily spent over three grand here in less than two years. I have never been disappointed. I am not the best at aesthetics but they have helped me pick or picked solid color schemes to complement my pieces. They do absolutely beautiful work and have great prices. Even have a military discount. i will not go anywhere else for framing in orlando. Great staff, great service. Highly recommend this place

I got heavy body artist acyrlic paint in gold and it was not heavy body like it said on the packaging. The chroma paint. It was liquid. All the other colors of that brand were wonderful and nice heavy body paint. Sam flax does not keep good care of their paints and checking quality.

Haven’t seen a better art store, it doesn’t look as big as the big box stores, but they cram a LOT of fine art supplies in their space. So much to look at! The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, and I will probably be signing up for their art classes. What a great find! Highly recommended!

Nice place TO GO TO and shop. AWFUL, if you need them to ship. I wanted to buy three small non-breakable items that cost about 8 bucks, AND THEY WANTED THAT MUCH TO SHIP IT. When I tried to get them to find a different way to ship, the female clerk told me I TRIED TO GET THEM TO LOWER THE COST -- THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING WOULD HAVE COST $15 !!

The place for paper and pens. I stopped in to get a lovely, one of a kind wrapping paper for a special gift.This store has everything for drafting, drawing and writing. The selection is very unusual. The gifts are sublime. I can always find something I love at Sam Flax.Make sure you check out the stunning murals painted on the outside for all to enjoy.Ive added a photo of the pretty paper, with as many color options as you can imagine.

Amazing store! Not your typical art store. Wider selection than chain art stores. The elder gentlemen was very helpful in helping us find our materials. Samy (I believe is their name) was so helpful and funny, and made sure to reassure me on my purchase and the brands I chose. Staff was great! And the place itself looks amazing both inside and out! Definitely something I’ll recommend to my friends and family.

One of the older independent art stores still open in Orlando. Tons of art supplies, books, and other stuff to keep you interested for an hour or so. Has art classes, just look for schedules inside. Printing services available as well. Clean facility.

Great store with a wide selection of art supplies. Sometimes they have awesome sales, I bought some usually very expensive brushes 50% off the other day. I regularly visit Sam Flax for watercolor supplies or window shopping, I also bought a slant desk once from their furniture section and I love it. Staff is very friendly. They also have a non-art-supplies section that makes it perfect to visit for unique gift shopping at Christmastime when you dont know what to get for your quirky aunt. Drove 30+ miles from a rural part of Florida. Desperately searching for a decent quality fountain pen, with a particular interest in Lamy. Walked up to the entrance as an employee was locking the door. Was told they closed at 6pm. Arrived at 6:01 pm. Granted i arrived after closing but made a 40 minute drive for something not available anywhere near me and was told by the clerk it was too late and she was hungry. What added particular insult to injury was in my direct line of sight from the locked front entrance door was an entire Lamy fountain pen display.

Great store but bad customer service. One of the cashiers is so rude. Skinny, black short hair, looks Hispanic and tomboyish. No manners whatsoever, I said thank you 3 times and no answer at all. Very rude to be upfront the store.

Hobby Lobby and Michaels have nothing on this place. This place really knows art supplies. I was in the store for like an hour just testing out their pens and it was an amazing experience. They have so many markers and the paintbrushes look really nice. Not to mention the paint itself. If you thought buyong from the measly paint selection at Hobby Lobby sufficed, you were wrong. Sorry Hobby Lobby, but you got rid of the printmaking supplies, so you kinda deserve a slam. I think Ill go write a review for them now, lol...

I have taught many art classes a few years back at Sam Flax and of course purchased a lot of supplies there. And just a week ago I was there to have a new painting of mine photographed for prints later when this man approached me asking if I was just an artist or maybe a teacher too. We chatted back and forth and I asked him if he was Mr Flax and he said he wasnt Sam but rather his son, Leonard. We had a wonderful conversation. Perhaps, Ill be teaching classes there again

A nice little art shop the staff there seem nice and welcoming. The only reason for 3 stars is because of a problem I had but got ignored. Please check everything you buy that it is not opened or used already. I brought a few inks and watercolours but it turned out an ink I brought was already opened and it was 3/4 full, the ink dropper was completely filled with dry ink. The ink itself was seperating even when mixed. I messaged to ask if it was salvagable but got ignored. I am not a local so it would cost too much in uber to return it. Hence why the 3 stars. Everything else was good.

Cute store that offers quite a variety of art supplies. I go there usually to get Markers and Paint but with the 30% off discount with Student ID it’s really a great price and just a great place for its prices and items in general.

Great store!! Lots of options for each and every type of artist. This store may suck you in for hours because of all the refined options they will present to you. There is an even better option for students. STUDENT DISCOUNT!!! It changes every semester but last semester it was 15% off regular priced items. Bring your valid ID from your college and they’ll give you the discount. Even the art outside is worth seeing with the awesome locally painted street art.

Orlando rally needs more art stores like this. Love their clearance department on the second floor, variety of cute gifts , office supplies and of course art supplies. Discount for students is another nice thing . Staff is adorable

I was pleasantly assisted by Carol, at Sam Flax today. She not only showed me where the paper I was looking for was located, she also showed have me more choices, which is exactly what I need in order to complete my project. The items i really liked were a bit pricey, but Carol helped me in choosing great alternate pieces that will allow me to do my work, and still create a quality product. Such great customer service is few and far between. Im so glad I stopped by Sam Flax today!

As an architecture student, I come to this store quite often. Service is always helpful and kind. Today I used their large scale printing services for the first time. Doug was an AMAZING help. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and surpassed my expectations. I have spent many days on graphics for class, and needed prints to match the quality of work. The prints came out crisp, clean, and color perfect. I will be back soon!!!

Helpful clerks there. Every one of them. No so much with the manager. She doesnt know what it means to assemble something and tries to charge $25 for assembling something that doesnt require assembling. Great student discount for UCF students. .

This is well stocked and has huge a variety of art supplies. Theres many other gift items, cards, other fun items. Students receive a generous 30% discount with appropriate ID.

This is my art store. I love it, the staff is amazing and the product selection is great and if they dont have it they will get it for you. We are very lucky to have them; I just wish they would open a store in Nashville.

Sam Flax is an example of adequacy in action. They do have art supplies and equipment, but the staff either lack training or carry a Starbucks baristas level of self importance.Dont print here. Art Systems of Orlando is 10 minutes away and give professional service. SF apparently only prints Monday-Friday and have only one person who operates their printer (or so I was informed). After requesting a print, being promised a reasonable turnaround time, having that fail and not having my calls returned, I entered the store, was given blank stares and a return of my money and a very unhappy feeling.Art Systems saved my day with a quick turnaround and reasonable price. Go there and save yourself the hassle.UPDATE:The Monday after this debacle, I was called and notified that my print with them was ready. Confused, I replied that I had canceled my order on Sunday. The gentleman on the other side of the phone insisted that he had notified me on Friday night that it was ready for pickup. I have no idea whether this was just a bad instance of organization or just terrible people, but I will never print there again.

Stopped by for some last minute gifts on Christmas Eve and wish I had just started my holiday shopping there instead. A great selection of gifts as well as paint, art and craft supplies for me. The staff was very friendly and attentive.On a side note I stopped by the other art store several critical reviews mention. I love the look of this place and I love looking at art supplies, but after this weird interaction with the staff today I dont know if I want to go back.I asked if they had any agendas in the stationery section and the salesman laughed at me and said he had no idea what I was talking about.Then I explained what an agenda is, and he asked another lady, mocked me for using the word agenda and said they didnt have any.I saw two on the shelf made by Rifle Paper Co. here in Orlando right next to them that they didnt seem to notice, but by this point I was turned off from buying anything. Id just as soon buy Rifles products directly from them because theyre great.

As a graffiti artist, its sometimes hard to find a local store with the right spray paint, adapters and tips. They had a great selection of colors. I cant wait to go back and buy more. I loved that the first time I went there, a group of like minded artists were comparing products and were on a first name basis with the manager. It was comforting to see such a great local art community.

Awesome place all the art supplies you could dream of. We had a canvas stretched here for a very reasonable price. Staff was very friendly.

First time at the store, went there on the recommendation of someone who uses their services regularly. I walked in, waited while 2 employees finished helping a customer and doing something else. When one employee was free I asked where to go to for prints and was told to go and ring the bell in the framing section. Rang the bell and waited at least 5 minutes. During that time I saw employees laughing & talking with each other, yet no one addressed me asked if I had been helped or let me know someone was on the way. Not seeing anyone remotely interested in helping I left the store. Sam Flax definitely did not make a great first impression.

My friend Jose and went there to buy some materials for our architecture class. Elisa greeted us and called Casey to assist us. Casey was extremely helpful and very friendly. This is automatically our place to shop to buy materials for class.

The store itself has a lot of good products and most of the staff seemed to be friendly and helpful. The printing department on the other hand was very disappointing. It took way longer than they originally told me and then they had to rush to meet my deadline. This combined with assuming I wanted something taken out of my artwork, resulted in cropping part of my design which makes them useless to me and my customers. I was told because I approved the proofs I would have to pay for them be printed again. I approved the colors not the poor cropping!

Ive been goIng to Sam flax and purchasing products for two years but recently there has been a noticeable change the last 3-4 months the customer service in the print Dept has been terrible. Mike Giordano, the lead printer has terrible customer service and his knowledge of the art of printing isnt as vast as hed like you to believe they take forever on prints. I would not suggest using them for prints but for art supplies they are amazing.

Best place around for art supplies

I have been going here for years but they need to change some things or go the way of the dodo bird. First, its always stupidly hot inside. Second, everything is overpriced. From paint to copic markers they offer little to no discounts when you buy in bulk. Finally, the people are nice but when you can buy everything cheaper on Blick or Amazon and have it delivered right to your door....it makes you wonder why you would brave the traffic and super hot store. The store feels very bare and isnt as inviting as it used to be. If a Blick ever comes to Orlando Sam Flax will be in serious trouble.

They have a great selection of reasonably priced art supplies and a lot of great gifts ideas. The staff is pretty helpful and knowledgeable about using the art supplies properly.

This store was the closest official retailer for Herman Miller office seating and I wanted to check out the product before I paid so much for a chair. This fun and expansive art supply store surprisingly had a nice display section with several models of the Herman Miller seating line. Great service too.

During that time we looked at everything, found a ton of present s to buy for Christmas and sadly avoided most of the staff.There were two young women and two men working. The one blonde woman was so rude to the other employees both me and my kids were actually shocked. It completely ruined our experience and this was our first visit there.The store is amazing, the prices are decent, the older man who greeted us was kind and attentive- those are the positives. Whoever reviews these please speak with your staff, no one wants to feel that uncomfortable when shopping and they were hanging Christmas lights. That should have been fun.Well try it again but maybe with a different staff or just go to ArtSystems.
