No grass no chance for recreation. Good thing there is a fire house next door because it just looks like a field of kindling

Great spot to run around with the kids. Since Covid the unleashed dogs are pretty bad (along with their poop).

Great small open field, pre-covid. Now is just dead grass and dirt. Overflowing garbage. Empty plastic bottles toss everywhere adds to the disappointment.

The trail I walked is the old railroad line. Paved asphalt winds through oak and eucalyptus trees. From where I entered at the top of LaSalle Avenue to the 1 mile marker is lovely. Places to sit on park benches every quarter mile or so. Dogs are allowed on leashes, bicyclists and just people who want a pretty walk.

There are no lights. The fields are medium size and well kept, but get dry during the hot summers. There is parking and you generally feel safe, but because it is in the middle of nowhere it is hard to get there without a car. The bathrooms are pretty disgusting, they are never clean and you will see poop on the walls and floor.

Great park! Used to be landfill, but now a great park after they buried that in dirt. Might explain why they had three redwoods randomly die. Once in a while they have goats eating the vegetation which is fun for kids, and a back area seldom visited by folks.

Recently went through this park while out for a run. There are no sidewalks and in places no shoulder on both Snake Rd. (leading into the park) and Shepherd Canyon Rd. (going through the park). The bulk of the park is basically a road running through the base of a ravine whose walls are covered in pretty thick forest. Near the southern end of the park, there is a cleared flat area, consisting of a parking lot, two soccer fields, bathrooms, and a water fountain. The water fountain was not working when I went through (July 2013). The stretch of Shepherd Canyon Trail/Montclair Railroad Trail that goes along the western side of the park is very nice. It is a paved trail that runs higher up on the ravine wall and is quite secluded from the traffic below. There were locals out walking their dogs and jogging, and there are a few benches along the way to sit and enjoy the outdoors.Overall a nice experience, except that it didnt feel very safe running along the side of the road, especially because the cars seem to be going awfully fast. Also would have been nice to have a working drinking fountain.

The park has a main area where most casual visitors spend most of their time in but since around 2010 there have been major upgrades to the walking paths up the hill and further up the creek.

Bathrooms need to be maintained! A climbing structure for the kids and a very unlevel soccer field good for throwing the ball around with mens best friend.
