We stopped by on a Summers day for cocktails on the terrace which is on the lake. The view was wonderful and the atmosphere was relaxed and fantastic. It was lovely to watch everyone rowing on the lake (including a bride and groom having their wedding photos taken on a boat). Id definitely recommend having a few beverages here.

If there was an option for 10 stars this place would deserve it! It is sitting in the heart of The Central Park right on the lake, could there be a better location? I dont think so. Service was extraordinary here, the servers just knew the menu through and through, and they were all lovely, we even got a free cocktail because the bartender made an extra one of what we were having! Food awakes every single one of your taste buds, it tastes even better than it looks. Im sure youve made lots of mistakes in your lifetime, but visiting The Loeb Boathouse wont be one!

This used to be one of my favorite places in New York - such a shame that they are shutting down for good after all these years. This place had a great ambience since it is located right in the heart of Central Park. The food has been hit or miss, but overall, I have always left happy with my experience. Very pricy, but being able to look out onto the water of Central Park and enjoy a nice meal makes it worth it.

Made a reservation 24 hours before visiting the famed restaurant by The Lake in Central Park. I recommend showing up 15-20 minutes before your reservation time to make sure getting seated on-time and everything going smoothly. The food came pretty quickly despite that it was 1pm peak time. Excellent service, the waiter was very attentive and took care of my lady friend. I def recommend the pan-roasted pork loin, tender and delicious. Portion was just right. Cast-iron chicken, equally well-made. For me it was a pleasure checking out its menu on-line and Googling what the food looks like before my visit. Its better to make a reservation if you want to impress someone because the wait time could take 1/2 hour or more during peak hours. Dont keep your guests hungry and waiting. Its a busy spot for lunch, unless if you show up after 2pm w/o a reservation.

One of my favorite ways to spend a sunny afternoon. The key is to order at the counter (prices are MUCH more affordable vs getting table service inside) and bring your food/drink to the outside bar patio. The perfect spot to people watch and enjoy the juxtaposition of skyscrapers and nature. We had the tuna on rye and an aperol spritz. (Spritz was a little weak but was worth the experience. )

This is a beautiful place with amazing food. We visited on a rainy day in the winter, but were seated by the windows. And even in the rain the views were beautiful! Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back, hopefully in the summer when there are leaves on the trees and the windows are open!

We were enjoying a nice time looking out at the fountain and the row boats in the water...However, our waiter was not helpful and very short with us and acted like we were wasting his time. We waited for 30 minutes after we placed our drink order and we had to ask many times to even get our order placed. Bottom line: we enjoyed the views and the atmosphere, but the servers were not great.

Incredible place! I truly loved all the amazing treatment from the waiters, the incredibly tasting food (not to mention the amount!! Is very generous) if you are lucky enough like I did, you can get a seat right next to the lake view (even more incredible)Great ambient, great music, great food, great service!!I am giving 5 stars because I had an amazing time, but! (There’s always a “but”) I had a little miss-understanding with one of the check in girls in the beginning when I entered the restaurant to see of there were any tables available. She kinda judged me and my family and assumed that we couldn’t pay it... gave us many weird rules like: you cannot only eat appetizers per person, if you do that one must do this and that. And like there is a limit of charge.... I truly got very mad at her and made us wait an hour for a table that was waiting for us to be seated. But that was only in the beginning, then she left and after that we had the most amazing time. I don’t even know why I mentioned this but I was really not happy with her attitude towards us. But... the rest was a beauty!!!

Must see visit for any first-time visitor to New York City. A fine-dining experience with reasonable prices, particularly given its location in the heart of Central Park. Most seating quaintly overlooks a sparkling lake adrift with leisurely row boaters. Dress code ranged from very formal (a bride and her family were there during our visit) to vacation casual wear. It can be a very long, exhausting walk from outside the park to the restaurant, particularly in formal wear! Reservations are a must! We walked 2.5 miles in August heat to keep our wedding anniversary reservation, only to find that the Loeb Boathouse provides a courtesy van for pick-up (and return) of patrons who may be using the subway or buses, and do not have a vehicle! Make sure to call to ask for the connection site closest to you.

Its really cool to be able to sit right next to The Lake in Central Park and have dinner. The food was really good, cocktail good but the draft beer list needs some work, they really should serve some local craft beers. The service was great but not exceptional, and I did start the dinner with a dirty napkin on my seat. Overall, it was good but not great. Prices are what you should expect for the location $180 for two drinks, two entrees, one app and tip. At the end of the day a place you really only need to go to once.

Subsequent to my sons wedding, we went to the Boathouse for a small luncheon with our immediate family and my new and wonderful daughter-in-law and her family. It was a great experience. The company was fantastic, the appetizers were delicious, only to be outdone but the fabulous main course, and the desert was tremendous. The staff was excellent. They were very attentive to our needs and desires. Service was excellent! Our group had a wonderful view of the lake from our table but it soon became a minor problem as the sun was shining through the window into the eyes of about half of the guests. It was requested that the exterior awnings be lowered to provide some shade to the affected guests but we were told that the awnings were in a fixed height position and could not be adjusted downward. The inability to provide shade to our table is the only thing that is stopping me from giving 5 stars. I would gladly return to this facility but I would seek a shaded seating location or a room without a view. In all other aspects, our luncheon experience was superb.

We had made a booking in advance for Christmas lunch & it turned out wonderfully. It was a bit chaotic on Christmas Day so I was very pleased that I had a booking because I think people turned up hoping to get a table when you had to pre-book. The set menu was hard to choose from with lots of nice options. I ended up going with the chicken which was so delicious & that gingerbread stuffing worked so well with it. My friend had the salmon which he thoroughly enjoyed as well. Cocktails came out quickly & were nice. Wait staff were very attentive & helpful. We had a wonderful Christmas Lunch here, it was a highlight of our trip!

Had Christmas lunch here and was not overly impressed. Firstly the bar as you walk in was super busy and virtually inaccessible to guests waiting for a table. There are way too many people who arent guests with reservation for the restaurant getting in the way. For Christmas lunch the window seats were designed for groups of approx 4-6, this disadvantaged all couples creating a few issues for the seating staff. The food was great but my husbands Bisque appetizer came without crab and the server only followed up with the chef after we had finished our entre. He then said the chef forgot to put it on but shoved cold crab on our table for us to taste. This came across as a very rude gesture as we had finished our meal and was waiting for dessert all we asked was if the crab had been missed. We then were given the wrong desserts to top it all off.Great atmosphere and I would love to come back when its not the holidays to enjoy the normal service.

Beautiful view of Central Park boating. Nice restaurant with white tablecloth. Arrive early and sit right in front of the pond. Service was great and waiters were friendly. If it’s a nice weekend day, expect a long wait. You clearly come for the view and the food was alright. Lunch menu can be limited — no salads and not many egg/omelette options. I got the lox plate. They only have plain bagels and they aren’t the fresh kind from a nyc bagel spot. Tasted like a Thomas Plain bagel. If you are going to charge $28 at least have a decent bagel.

This is a MUST visit on cool summer day..and it only cost $15 after they return the $20 deposit. It was also my bestfriends brilliant idea to bring umbrellas and parasols, so once it hit 90 degrees +, it didnt matter we were the only weirdos holding one, it also aesthetically added to the scenic pictures..This day was truly memorable and unforgettable. Looking for a place to eat in Central Park? This is it. This is the most elegant food I have had yet, while in New York. Check it out.The Bloody Mary had a straight tomato juice with a heavy hint of horseradish profile. The cucumber drink was refreshing and very good. The crab cake was A+ and in the top of the ones Ive eaten. It was served with a white remoulade or crab sauce. The crab cake was properly grilled and was not dry at all. Perfectly done. The cucumber salad had a light and vinegary taste with a slight amount of oil and salt that I couldnt get enough of.The scallops ? Out of the park. No pun intended. They were perfectly seared, and not over cooked. The carrot butter !?!? Off the chart. I mean I wanted to take a bath in it. The cauliflower ... excellent. There was a purée of some sort which I didnt recognize in the menu description. This was a chef level dish, that you couldnt replicate at home.
