When walking in you are heartily greeted by an excellent concierge/doorman. His encouraging words got us amped up for our audition, the purpose of the visit. The walls are rife with Black theatrical history, hand made artifacts line the base boards along with posters and positive quotes. An overall experience.
Ive only been there once on the occasion of my teenage daughter doing a moth competition city wide, and killing it! Its a beautiful space. A small theatre in the round. I would happily go back for more dance, music or theatre, all of which is presented there on a regular basis. Nice people too!
A Fresh entertainment 2019 Christmas party! Atmosphere, the MC and DJ were excellent! The people and total experience was enjoyable! A good time was had by all in attendance!Help was needed in keeping the lavatories in a user friendly and clean state!
The independent film festival held by The Hip Hop Film Festival was simply amazing at this venue. All seats were up close and comfortable. The Q&A part of the festival allowed for up close and personal contact with the actors. All around it was a fabulous event with a meet and greet and wine sip which followed. I will be sure to buy more tickets, early next year.
We were next door in the art space. Very roomy, yet cozy. Very nice
I came here various of times. It’s very diverse and they have a lot of cool things that go on here. The hip hop film festival. There’s a church that rents out a space on Sunday’s. They have shows here. I performed here on Sep 8th 2019 for a play called “Shades of our beauty” we had a pack house.
It was a spiritual experience to be there. I was there when it was a dream in Barbra Ann Teers mind and soul. To be in the building in 2019 was magical.
I went to a Good Friday church service here. Friendly & hospitable. I will go back.
Went here to a luncheon given by Code for Life computer programming school. Beautiful
Its a beautiful venue that can be utilized to hold black events.
Simple setup but comprehensive in substance. At least for the event I attended
What a great theater in the heart of Harlem! There are a big number of events to visit. It’s very well kept and clean. The staff was welcoming and friendly.
The facility represents its name. I always enjoy the performances.
Got to Preform here on may 18th and A few.months before love this place
I worked in Harlem for 35 years. Drive pass the Theater almost every day, yesterday was my first time attending a play there. It was amazing. Very cultural..
A small intimate theater. Every seat is a great seat. Phenomenal set design and good use of space. I have only seen one play over a ten year period that was not my cup of tea. Tix are always a reasonable price with great themes.
I visited The Theater for a fund raising event called Never Be Caged. The National Black Theater was a great place for the event to be held. Itb is b beautifully decorated with art. It was clean.I would recommend visiting our hosting an event.
Nice theater space in the heart of Harlem... A lil disorganized with the staff and helping people figure out where they going and the general check in process... But quality shows and great art in there
It was warm and welcoming!! Very friendly and patient staff.
Nice clean theater, has an middle school afterschool inside that runs year round
This theater is an important cultural institution in Harlem. Stage plays and community discussions take place here. Barbara Ann Teer was the founder in 1968 during the turbulent times of social unrest. Eventually there will be a new building in its place with the theater occupying 4 floors. As long as it remains in Harlem!!
The productions are excellent and the actors are terrific! Intimate space. Easy viewing.

Mr. Faison Is darling I have worked with him for a few events and absolutely adore him the establishment is beautiful as well and I will definitely recommend it to anyone seeking a beautiful venue in Harlem.
Enjoyed Selma the Musical very much. Actors were good, music was captivating. Diction could be improved if volume were toned down a bit. Story of the history was well told.
This is a very nice place to visit. They also have shows you can attend and is in the heart of Harlem.
ActUp a great place for writers and actors
Very esoteric. The blind sheeple should be very aware.

The national black theatre is wonderful they put on all kind of plays and shows and if youre visiting the area or you from the area please stop by and contribute and see how well the black theaters run and beautifully orchestrated and I love the way it smells when you walk in
I go to The Gathering here. I love the space. And the history in Harlem.
There for an excellent performance of Mandela!
Beautiful place I had a meeting to attend there about the jails and it was gorgeous and spacious!
LOVED IT FROM CHILDHOOD
It was an interesting experience; however, the theater needs a big updating. The facade of the Building almost looked abandoned from a distance; its flags could use a changing since they were very dirty.I went to the 3rd floor for a Martial Arts Events for Kemetic Masters. The theater pews were old, the stage too...It appeared to me that everything in the theater could use a makeover. The show, however, was enlightening and entertaining. The bathrooms were terrible however. They need severe attention to. So because of these factors; i land this Theater a solid 3 out of 5.
Great Landmark Venue. Very Harlem NYC. Love it!!!
Great Intel regarding Payment Pro-ethnicity..
Nice cozy theater. I felt comfortable while watching the performance here. Parking is not provided. The street parking is subjected to street cleaning regulations and other restrictions. Otherwise, there are other paid parking in the area.
I attended a dance event here with the group Empire Steppers. The place was great for a night out dancing with friends. Im not sure about parking in the area because a group of us were shuttled to the location.

Great cultural experience in the heart of Harlem. Recommend everyone and anyone to swing by.
A vibrant national stage that welcomes all visitors into the kind of conversations that only theater can provoke.
A dream come true..one that i never knew i had...such an iconic place...where sooo many of our people shined like a million black diamonds in the brilliance of the midnight sun...to have my voice echo in the same halls as teresa merrit james earl Jones lou gossip jr. Ive been here twice. Its beautiful and they have a lot of events. Even if youre not an art aficionado--just go.
Great place to see things in Harlem
Great place for a rotarian dinner event.
I love my neighborhood theatre. The plays are always well done and thoughtful, and I feel like theyve made me a more aware neighbor and citizen, particularly the talkbacks which provoke discussion. Keep up the good work, guys!
Great for activities and events!
This place is always fantastic!
The energy that surrounds the theatre is amazing. The vibe must be felt in person.
Multi-story building for event spaces that caters to local community. Close to subway lines and easy to access via public transit, in and of Harlem. Helps to positively represent African-American culture. Staff is helpful, and decor is nice.
Oh yes, go see something at the NBT. I love this place.
I had a nice time. Well kept theater.
Amazing venue to watch up and coming actors. Up close and personal. Parking is excellent.
