Beautiful place to to spend all day with family, friends, husband and your loves one. rent bikes or take your own bikes to see the whole island. You can take the ferry from Brooklyn near red hooks. Last free ferry leaves at 6:45 but line is to long for the ferry we get there at 6 pm to stand on line. Time was just passed so fast and there so many beautiful restaurants to choose.

Governors Island is a must stop when you come to New York. Youll feel like you are miles away from the city.. visit the farm, relax in the hammocks, watch the children play in the playground, scoot or bike around... The options are endless! Cant wait to come back again, again and again.

Ever wanted the view from tbe Statten island ferry without someones smelly armpit nearby? well look no further. You can sit in this fantastocally designed park srea and view the iconic statue of liberty, Manhattan, and, well, Jersey. Word of warning though, smuggling dogs on the ferry without the right paperwork may be frowned upon.

This is a beautiful National Park and a unique place in NYC. We would definitely recommend visiting this island and location as it is very special. It was a true surprise to see how beautiful the location and park is and how good the restaurants and the facilities are in terms of quality, organization and cleanliness. The views of Manhattan and of the statue of liberty and NYC harbor are amazing and priceless. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the island on a ferry and the cost is one of the best deals in NYC as it is very cheap. This is a true gem and jewel in NYC. Congratulations to the organizers and to the employees who make this island such a special place.

Theres so much interesting history, literally a five minute ferry ride from the tip of the city. Despite most of the food on the island being closed, presumably because of Covid, theres still bikes for rental, pumpkins for picking, historic buildings to be visited and my favorite, Collective Retreats Camp Ground where you can do a little glamping just minutes from the city.

A real gem for anyone who visits. You can hike all over including the hills where you will get incredible pics of downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn, and LIC Queens as a backdrop. I have been there a number of times this year and as recently as yesterday 9/20/2020. I took the ferry from South St. Terminal in Manhattan, make reservations in advance on the Governors Island ferry website and bring masks. The early ferry at 10 am is free and its 3 dollars for later boats, worth every penny. I also reserved a barbecue, make sure you reserve in advance at the web site, and met with friends to have a great day but hurry because the ferry stops running at some point and resumes in the spring time. There is citi bike, 4 seater bikes, and peddle cars to rent and food concessions scattered around the island

This is such a gem for NYC. This was my 4th time visiting G. I in the last 9 years .Its perfect for a day trip for couples and families . Wonderful photo opportunities. Great for walking and biking or just sitting still and relaxing. I was surprised there were not more food trucks available the choices were limited and some of the food was disappointing. What needs improvement is signage . I could not find what i was looking for because of lack of signs or they were confusing . The island offers Surrey and tandem bike rentals by the hour and because the island is getting so crowded now they are going to need to have certain paths designated for bikes only. I witnessed so many near crashes and collisions because pedestrians didnt see the bikes coming . Governors island has so many activities all through the island and I didnt get to do most of them but I did get to visit the Urban Farm and pick my own lavender bouquet. I will be going back
