Bought last minute tickets which was risky but would definitely recommend going because you never know who you’ll see on stage of in the audienceMany big names got their first break hereLove this place.

Had a great time, some comedians are hilarious! Just not very please with the mandatory 2 drinks policy. Maybe they can charge cover which includes 2 drinks instead. Rather than $20 for cover, and another $20 for drinks. Just a simple $40 with drinks included.

Bottom line: if you like stand up, youll have a great time. Even saw a bunch of known comedians!Gluten line: drinks only, food is simple and totally not safe.Long line: as a fan of stand up, I had a blast here. Some of the comedians Ive even seen before so it was a real treat seeing them perform in person. Do understand that even if you get discounted tickets, they make their money with a 2 drink minimum, which is strictly enforced. Even given that the price per person isnt terrible for what you get, and Id personally return. As others mentioned, most comedians will roast, so be prepared, specially if you sit really close.

Solid comedy club on the upper east side. Ticketing system is good and the comics put in their all. However, prices can be pretty high on the drinks and the food. Beware the two drink minimum, which is in addition to your ticket (that may be $25/person). They dont have an actual kitchen, so all of the food prepared is stuff thats just heated up, like pretzels, popcorn and nachos (chips out of a bag smothered in cheese sauce). Our bill was $125 for four people, in addition to the $113 we paid for the ticket, so was a pretty expensive night. All that said, we all laughed for most of the show!

Late night New Years Eve show was way disappointing. In spite of selling tickets for Half price a full week leading up to NYE even though I paid full price, obviously they couldn’t sell out and they didn’t, came close though. The MC from down south was drunk and terrible. The rest okay, comedian from Brooklyn was good tho. Manager Evan promised 1/2 refund upon arrival and never did. Not cool. I live comedy but he’s the biggest joke of the night. Terrible , terrible NYE . I hope 2020 is better for us both. Just plain lousy.

First time going to a comedy show in person and the comics were awesome. Food and drinks a little pricey but I enjoyed myself. Please note if you are easily offended, dont go to a comic show. Had 2 sensitive people complain about one of the jokes. Just my advice. It ruins the show for everyone else.

I went to an open mic and there was a baby boomer comic waiting to go onHe found out that the host didnt work for the club and asked if hed be able to get into a show from the mic. The host said probably not and the baby boomer left without bussing his own glass. He seemed to think his wife or mom would do it. Neither showed up. None of them are getting on a show.

This is one of the coolest comedy clubs I’ve been to in the city. The space is rather small which is perfect for a good comedy experience. When you walk in, the walls are filled with photos of all the greats who have performed there. We saw four comics, all of which were very unique and each fantastic. Tickets were reasonably priced and they have the typical two drink minimum. We went to the 8pm show— I would personally recommend the 10. I think that the audience makes a show and the 8pm was a lot less fun than than the 10pm shows I’ve been to in the past.

The only reason this place is only getting 4 stars is because the seating area is more than a little cramped. Otherwise, the drinks are decent, the comics are great and the environment is fun. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, which makes it an even greater experience. This was my second time there in the past few years and it did not disappoint.

Awesome club. Was lucky enough to see TJ Miller there. He is one of my favorites. The other comics on the show were fantastic though. The club itself has a certain level of divey dingy kitsch to it, that makes it feel antiquated and authentic at the same time. After a night of drinking, it works perfectly as a backdrop to your hazy rummy dream, as you try hard to remember specific jokes and account for how many cigarettes you smoked. Highly recommend.

Depending on the show, this place can be lots of fun. Of you are in town and youre looking for some laughs I strongly suggest it. I get that comedy clubs can get busy, however the waiting staff completely forgot about our table, so we were unable to order food/drinks at the venue. On top of this, a live cockroach fell from the ceiling onto our table in the middle of the show. If you’re going to see comedy in nyc, stick to the comedy cellar, the ny comedy club, gotham comedy club, or Caroline’s on broadway

I went when Leslie Jones was on and she was hilarious! That being said, all the main comics were great. There was a $15 cover to go on a Wednesday plus a two drink minimum so it ends up being about $30 to go, at least. Not much in the way of food, just nachos, burger, hot dog, popcorn. Would recommend eating before you go there. They were very considerate about seating. I went by myself and was seated next to someone else there alone, near the back. A few minutes later they came back and apologized and offered us seats near the front if we wanted. Don’t sit right up front if you don’t want to be heckled. I was behind a row of people and was not picked on, thankfully.

Saw some awesome comedians! Vlad Caamaño, Lenny Marcus, Leslie Jones, and then some other guys that I hadnt heard of prior to show, but they were hilarious. With that said, Id only go to Comic Strip Live if I already knew the comedians that were doing a set, because the venue itself is not worth supporting.Made an account just to say how underwhelming the employees at the place were. Im happy to pay for tickets and a two-drink/item minimum even when the items are pricey (whats not in NYC? Its not a surprise), but if youre going to have those expectations in place, at least be cool to your customers. When a group of 7 of us got to the show, we asked at the bar in the front if the drinks ordered there counted towards the minimum. I, and the rest of the group, recall the bartenders and the man checking tickets saying yes to us.When we get in, our hostess tells us that the drinks ordered at the bar dont count. She says to us, I dont think they told you that. Okay, if there was a misunderstanding, fine, but to straight up call us liars left a bad taste in my mouth. I can give them the benefit of the doubt, but at least be somewhat apologetic. But considering how confrontational they were, and considering the lack of even a sign at the front saying drinks ordered at the bar dont count towards the minimum, I have to assume that was a reoccurring incident for them and is an intentional scam. So, Ill go back if I know the comedians, but I wont be stopping by otherwise.

Throwback space that hosts a huge span of talent, from the elite to the just starting out and all in between. (Currently a) $20 cover charge, and of course drinks are movie-theater expensive -- like virtually any comedy club, theres a 2 drink/item minimum -- but thats the economics of comedy and paying for quality comedians. No bad seats, even the front row. Often, after the main comedians are done, there are a bunch of new comics trying to hone their tight five, and that part of the show is thrown in for free. Give the new folks a chance to work in front of an audience!

My first time ever at a comedy club. My girlfriend and I got seats right up at the front and of course the compare picked her out the minute he got on stage lol. If you cant laugh at yourself though you shouldnt be there;)I wasnt counting but I figure around 20 minute sets from 5 comics - though one seemed put off by an audience member and ended after 5 minutes. Wish I could remember their names but the blonde woman who looked like Rollins from Law and Order SVU was good as was the Dominican guy and the last guy was the best of the night - sounded like Morgan Freeman lol. His joke about the alcoholic family member at Thanksgiving was classic. All in all a great night and something completely different for us. Thanks to all the great comics!

I had such high hopes for the Open Mic, given that many of my favorite comedians have performed here. Sadly, it was very disappointing, both from an administrative point of view, and a comedy point of view. My boyfriend was promised a spot on stage, but instead, we paid 28 dollars to sit through two hours of very very mediocre comedians (with exceptions, some of the newer faces had talent), and my boyfriend never had a chance to be heard. I wont be coming back.

Good venue. We werent too sure when to turn up and the ticket said they may refuse entry if we were late so we arrived really early and it wasnt open yet. We knocked and the guys inside were really pleasant and told us that this was more of an requirement for Saturdays rather than early showing Friday.I probably drank more beer than I should have but we were trying to be as efficient with the two item minimum as possible and I could only eat so much popcorn (nice as it was). The comedians were great and we had a good night.

Newcomers beware- This isnt the place to get your foot in the door. Although The Comic Strip is well known, the staff are not welcoming. The Open Mic I attended was basically an echo chamber of older sub-par comedians patting each other on the back. There was no audience, just other aspiring comedians waiting for their turn. I was told that there is a 7 dollar cover charge, but had to pay 14 dollars each for me and my girlfriend. The kicker? After being promised a spot a week in advance over the phone, I wasnt given an opportunity to speak.

Wanted to like this place coz they try hard to bring in punters but everything about it is unclassy and deceptive: two drink minimum is fair enough but what they dont tell you is that corona costs 13 dollars, tap water 10, and drinks at the bar dont count towards the two drink minimum. Surly waiting staff too...at a comedy bar. Is that supposed to be ironic? The comics were not funny on the Monday night but probably not helped by the overall feeling of a sham place . Really disappointing comedy club. Stick to the good quality comedy clubs in midtown or Brooklyn that dont cheat you.

Great local comedy club on the upper East side with a famous history. This club pulls in well-known comedians from around the country, so its worth checking out their website on a monthly basis to see who is on deck. Its located on 2nd Avenue just a few blocks from the 86th Street subway station, so getting there by Subway or car is quite easy.Be prepared to rub elbows with your fellow patron since this is a smaller venue and tends to get quite packed. I attended what appeared to be a sold-out or nearly sold-out show this past weekend, and while it was a bit crowded it was never uncomfortable and certainly was not a problem getting seating. The standard two drink minimum per person applies, and at New York prices this can be a bit expensive but well within what you would expect in NYC.

Attended the Joey Vega show recently. There was only speakers in the center, so anyone sitting off to the side could not here. So as the employee shushed everyone (quite often) for speaking, what else could they do, no one could hear the show! We did ask if he could speak louder, he cracked a funny about how we should’ve arrived earlier (in which we did). The popcorn machine was broken, and we were told they were purchasing bags of popcorn (which is understandable, it happens) BUT, the waitress gave us basically kernels and charged us for it!

Last night was my birthday. I came here with my brother and my partner to enjoy the night after a rough week at school and to show my older brother a good time. One of the comedians was asking if two girls would sleep with my partner Seriously And one of them gave a thumbs up. Luckily, we were at a comedy club, so I wasn’t going to try to start with some female. . . But these comedians need to not point out certain people it’s crazy! Anyway, an amateur comedian tried to s*** on me because I raised my hand when he asked who thought they were an A plus person. . . Then I said I do because I’m a mom, and he tried to say “oh your a mom, oh wow.” - So, we left. If you come here, prepare to get roasted all of the other comedians were awesome! besides that amateur one

Just charge a small flat fee on top of the ticket price to everyone who comes in and offer them -good- food at a good price, and you’ll probably make more money. When movie theaters have better food than your comedy club, you have some soul searching to do.
