I just completed an eight week course (one Wednesday a week) titled “Online Tools for Artists”, instructed by Nadia Martinez, at the New York School of the Arts. I had an exceptional experience. I found the classes to be extremely informative. As the curriculum description states, you will learn how to effectively research opportunities, build an online portfolio, website or blog, and submit artwork for competitions. Using social networking to promote yourself and design your branding to attract traffic to your website.Nadia’s knowledge and experience as an artist and curator is limitless. I highly recommend this course for all artists interested in taking their careers to the next level.Steven Vando

I attended the open house on Wednesday and I genuinely dont even know where to start with this review. I arrived a bit earlier than usual, and there is NO direction on where to go. I went to the office on the second floor and a person told me to just come back later. I was kind of surprised, like - is there no lounge/waiting area? So fine, I go ahead to wait somewhere else. As soon as I walk off I literally hear this person say Theres always one. Uh? Okay...sorry my presence bothered you. I come back 15 minutes later and the doors that were under construction opened up and I was directed to go to the elevator. I stood there for awhile and then the staff member finally said Uhh... Dont forget to press the button! And go where? Never informed me with any direction whatsoever. I thought they were going to guide me and we were going to go on a tour. But nope, we ended up going to the basement, and there was nothing but a big open gallery/exhibition space and no where to sit! This is bad for the handicapped! I literally saw a person SIT on one of the exhibitions on the floor. I felt so confused! I just wanted to learn more about the classes and programs at this art school.Instead, when I was waiting around for an HOUR, everyone was talking amongst each other and it was starting to get crowded. Not ONE person came in and gave any guidance when were about to do the tour. I just ended up leaving on my own, I was tired of waiting around. Waste of my time coming after work to learn nothing. This seemed more like an event for a showcase/exhibition. Please do better with your event planning - like a pamphlet or SOMETHING. Im usually not the one to complain or leave a bad review but it was frustrating.I gave an extra star because the space was nice - other than that - bad customer service.

I have taken numerous courses at the New York School of the Arts. Printmaking as well Abstract Painting and Alternative Materials and Cyanotype The professors are extreemely professional and knowledege. The classes are not overly large so you are able to work with the professors individually. They go beyond to help you further your own creative vision. The students are very welcoming and there is always interesting dialogue between all involved. A special enviroment with much enthisuiasm for the artistic process.
