This museum was so cool. They let you try on some of the mardi gras costumes to take pics in. It has the history of mardi gras from the start to most current. There was also a doll shop inside that made the most beautiful dolls. The 2 ladies that ran it were such a pleasure to talk with.

I loved the museum and the tour guide was very informative ...however once the tour started I wish they didnt allow more people to jump in once the tour started... why you ask ? because he then had to catch everyone up which made me wonder and lose interest in the tour part an took away from my experience...

A WONDERFUL place to tour in Nola! The lady at the front desk was so nice, and they have a huge variety of costumes to ogle. You can take as many photos as you want, and they even have a whole dressing room AND extensive museum shop to peruse! This is well worth the trip and ticket price.

A fun way to experience the flamboyance of Mardi Gras. It’s kind of small but they have a dress up room where you can try on costumes. They also have documentary movies of the history of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. a safe way to teach your kids about New Orleans Mardi Gras and let them play at the same time.

Visited here on a recent short visit to New Orleans. The gentleman at the front desk, Allen, was very welcoming and seemed to be real passionate about the museum and the displays. He gave us a lot of information about the museum. They have a room were you can try on some Mardi Gras outfits which was real fun. The museum is not big but worth the price of admission.

Mardi Gras Museum was amazing - we learned so much about costumes and how they were made. Were bought pieces for our next costume events. They had a Costume Closet where you could play dress up - any age! It was very inexpensive and worth the time to visit. Bring lots of Quarters for parking :) and about 1.5hrs to go through and its a quarter on meter every 5min to park.

While its not the largest museum, there are quite a few costumes. The staff was friendly from the start. There was a documentary playing in one of the rooms about the cultural aspect of making the costumes. I feel like I learned a lot looking through the collection. Theres also a little store where you can buy masks and local art, as well as a corner where you can dress up in older costumes and do a photo op. Not the highest budget place but definitely a must see on an afternoon stroll through the French quarter.

It was really fun. They actually even had a spot where you can dress up in different Mardi Gra costumes and take pictures. Its a shame that there didnt seem to be a lot of ppl there bc it was actually really interesting. The store itself was kinda small though but it is extremely cheap to get in so I didnt really mind. There were only about 8 or 9 rooms. But they have videos on different Mardi Gra history and a lot of different costumes.

This is a great way to get a feel for the pageantry of Mardi Gras, all year round! Nearly a half a square block of displayed costumes from famous (and infamous!) New Orleans Mardi Gras royalty and regular revelers too. Also, the best part, a Costume Clost where you can try on dozens upon dozens of real Mardi Gras costumes! Thats enough profile pics for a lifetime. They also offer a guided tour of the exhibits where you can learn some great folklore and history of Americas biggest party and the love that goes into making it amazing every year....

A must see if at all interested in truly understanding the madness behind the plastic balls held together by a string that we have to have and can never get enough of. What is it that makes us enjoy our music a little louder, our drinks a bit stronger, and our streets a bunch more crowded. If you seeking the why instead of just enjoying the short lived up lifting high; then stop by this museum of costumes and culture this Mardi gras. Plus heres the kicker they actually can help you get dressed up for all Mardi gras needs just speak to one of there employees who are always happy to help with their welcoming southern charm and love for their deep rooted new Orleans Mardi gras life.

I was shocked with how much I enjoyed learning about the History of the Mardi Gras. Theres so much culture and tradition in New Orleans and the most amazing part is how proud locals are of it. Our Musuem host explained some of the rituals/traditions of how French, Indian, and New Orleans locals of today celebrated Mardi Gras. This place really opens your perspective on how much New Orleans tends to celebrate life and its ancestors. Ill never forget going to the museum and I would definitely consider tourists make this a stop.
