It was a nice park but I was expecting more trails and guided pathways. If you want to fish, swim, or canoe this is a great place for you. I however don’t. Should have known by the name it was primarily a river but it was still a great experience. I would suggest better map instructions though.

A beautiful and quick historical stop for the traveling history lover. Plenty of parking with easy access to the mills interior, all fenced in for safety making an easy viewing experience even for those with small children. However, if you follow the small grave trail behind the mom down to the river, there are no fences preventing one from falling in, and there is also a spot where you can walk out onto the dam portion, completely at your own risk. Parents might wanna keep one hand and two eyes in energetic little ones on that side on the mill!

Love the fresh air and negative ions. The water at the old mill is beautiful. Its a lovely short drive there from Bellevue/Hwy.70 and the trees arching across the road gives it a romantic feel. Great place for an afternoon picnic. Great place to social distance and enjoy the wildflowers and rush of the water! My only deterrent, the mosquitos and distant traffic sounds.

Quiet stop on a long trip. Really nice. Shaded, peaceful and easy to get to and from the interstate.

The history of this place was interesting, but the vibe was odd. It was like people were dressed as actors...really strange

This is a nice little historical location we found just by driving around one day. Its a perfect place for a picnic or to swim. There are also hiking trails nearby that we werent prepared to take. The information gives a pretty detailed history of the mill. The porta-potty bathroom was surprisingly clean. Perfect for a tranquil afternoon.

River was nice, only had a few spots where it got really shallow. We floated in some fishing float tubes from Newsom to Hidden Lake which on the map is only 3 miles or so and it took us 7 hours! It was our first time so we fished it pretty heavily and were pretty much only moving by the current but it took much longer than expected. Fishing was ok, slow at first but got a decent smallmouth and a decent spotted bass by the end of it. There are lots of over hangs, cut outs and trees in the water so everything looks good to fish. A kayak would be preferred as it will get around a little better and quicker.

My friends and I love this place. I fish there, kayak, canoe and just float down the river in a tube. The rangers that come by are very friendly and informative. The park is always clean and family friendly. Ive caught catfish, small mouth and plenty of long nose gar. Go check this place out and get some fresh air.

Great historic area. I wouldve given it 5 stars, but theres a HUGE traffic hazard. Just pay the old white house, you have to drive on a one lane, under a bridge, and NO ONE looks, or hardly even slows down. Its super dangerous and theres no one patrolling the place or doing traffic. Watch or going both ways!

Was surprised to see the mill with so much. Usually I visit mills with little to nothing left, mostly ruins. This one is in pretty good shape along with the grounds. There is even an old bridge that is being restored by the Boy Scouts.
