Definitely recommend. The boat had a lot more hidden rooms to go through and look around in then I thought. There was so much information, articles, history, examples, and more. It can keep you occupied for hours through all the different places. My parenter and I ended up asking a volunteer to help us find the deck and we all ended up talking for maybe an hour or more! He was so informational, helpful, sweet, and more. Its a definite recommend for those who love history and want to try something new!

Great experience to go through the ship. It has a lot of memorabilia inside. I learned a lot about the D-day of Normandy invasions. Theres no guide, you can follow the maps throughout the ship. If you have difficulties on climbing stairs or have issues with tight spaces you may not be able to get into all the locations. They arrange also sleepovers in the ship if youre interested.

We visited July 2017 and the whole family loved it!! My 18yo daughter, whos a photography student, got many beautiful shots of the awesome engine room. My 11yo son, whos a WW2 buff, loved the entire ship, my hubby loved that it was so detailed, everything was explained how it was used and I loved that its a museum & so many service men & women are honored in it! The volunteer employees were quick to Welcome us and thoroughly answered all our questions!! You will not be disappointed! A great thing for all ages!

Im not sure why more people dont know about or talk about this great floating museum. The group that operates this has pulled together an impressive array of memorabilia from throughout history. Artifacts range from WWI through the War in Afghanistan. They have sections dedicated to the veterans and equipment from each of the wars, plus an area for the “Muskegon connection,” as well as a memorial to K-9 warriors.A treasure like LST 393 deserved to be saved and supported. Nothing brings history to life quite like touring an old ship. Learning about the people who served on board, and the feats of service and bravery that ships like LST 393 represent, is inspiring.Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students. You can tour the whole thing in about an hour to 90 minutes. But if you have the time, I highly recommend spending more time there. Stop and read the placards with information. Take a few minutes in each section of the ship to take it all in. LST 393 is a big ship, and sometimes things so immense are hard to grasp. But if you spend a little time there, you’ll soon have an appreciation for those brave souls — some who gave, and some who gave all.

If you going to military ships please dont miss this one! All Ships that you tore tell you of the campaign and actions they were in. I have never been aboard a ship that is seen so much action as LST 393. Every major Naval action in World War II seems to have been participated in by this boat. The tour of the boat is excellent youre allowed to wander around on your own. At least three quarters of the ship seem to have been restored to at least as good of condition as when its new. There are exhibits throughout the main deck as well as many of the side compartments. After touring submarines destroyers Etc the LST was a interesting change. Its all the most action what was the simplest and most basic boat in many ways of anything I had been on. Top speed of only eight or nine knots memes you plan to head with this boat. The same exhibit usually has a Vietnam era river boat they can also be viewed and I believe gives rides.Although not glamorous this LSD was one of the best 10 Naval exhibits I feel Ive been on

This museum is pretty cool. Its basically a huge ship that served during WWII (was even used at d day to transport tanks and troops to the shore). You can walk through the whole ship, including the engine room which is awesome, and they have lots of artifacts and models (ships, tanks, Jeeps etc.).Overall its a very cheap museum and its definitely worth the money, you could easily spend at least 2-3 hours looking at everything.

I was stationed on an LST while in the Marine Corps so I had to bring the kids here to see what ship life was like. While this was an older version of what I was on there were a lot of similarities in the two.I would highly recommend doing a little research before you visit to get the most out of it. Make sure you watch the film after you pay the entrance fee. It does a very good job of explaining the ship.
