Lovely place, we sat in her yard and listened to a recording of Her reading A Good Man is Hard to Find. and it felt appropriate.

Very nice tour and a great throw back in time of a working farm. Tours ($7) start on the hour are of the house, but be sure to look through the houses/buildings on the property. Interior furnishings are almost all original and leave chills in you when to tour the home. Our guide was excellent and southern friendly. If you are up for it there is a nice walking trail to experiance. A little gift shop in the back where the tours start also has a wide selection of her books. Check website for hours. Well worth the trip to visit.... a true hidden gem.

Like the work of author Flannery OConnor? Or southern literature in general? If so, youll be thrilled with a visit to this huge farm, where OConnor spent much of her life.Pleasant student guide Mary Beth went out of her way to give an excellent tour of the period home, filled with many items Ms. OConnor used - including her vintage desk.Walk the exterior as well, with some renovated and some crumbling out-buildings. Watch for deer and peafowl, and absorb the peaceful vibe of this writers retreat.A truly lovely spot. Well-worth the time to find it and tour it. Farm-friendly footwear a must.

Much great restoration work has gone into this homestead of Flannery O’Connor. The tour includes a visit to the downstairs parts of the house, complete with stories about Flannery and her mother. Many of the artifacts are original. Watch Robert Barron’s Pivotal Players spot on her before you go!

Andalusia is one of the remaining places in Milledgeville that captures the sacred nature of the area. As Milledgeville gets more and more commercialized, Andalusia is a good place to go to forget that no one in Milledgeville knows how to drive. Flannery OConnor wrote amazing short stories about the beauty and darkness of life while living here and I cant tell if she is the reason Grace seems to hang off every tree branch, or if the charged nature of the air is what caused her to find redemption in even the deepest kinds of pain. Whichever it is, Andalusia is a resting place for the weary soul. Whether you go just to walk around the little hiking trail or you specifically set out to honor the greatest writer of the 20th century, Andalusia is the best detox for when you feel like your heart is covered in a thick layer of grit from the world around you.

Guided tour of her home was very interesting. The house and its contents are just as when Flannery lived there. There were also peafowl.

Andalusia had such an impact on OConnor and her writing, in ways that werent apparent until I visited. The tour guide I had was an acquaintance of OConnor, and when she told stories about the property and family, they had an immediacy and significance that made them kind of enthralling.Im a huge, huge nerd, and Flannery OConnor was the literary obsession of my most influential/favorite prof (now the Dean), and I got to visit Andalusia as part of a two-week trip for course credit, which was an amazing experience in itself. But the actual attraction/landmark itself, and the tour experience, were surprisingly terrific. Highly recommend, especially to other lit nerds.

The grounds are beautiful, and the areas that have been restored are lovely. The few historical markers around the grounds are interesting and helpful, too. There are, however, several buildings with no markers--I, for example, learned more through a Google search about the farmhands house, across from the main house, than I could physically standing on the property itself, which seems silly. A few buildings, like a barn near the entrance, are in disrepair, and theres no signage indicating plans to address these areas.

A beautiful property and well worth the visit if you are a book lover. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and answered my many questions as she showed us the house. It was really fascinating to see Flannery O’Connor’s home and where she wrote her greatest works. You can walk the grounds, visit the peacocks, and check out the other structures on the property as well. Tours start on the hour every hour from open to close. I really enjoyed my visit and am so glad that GCSU is taking such good care of the property and ensuring it’s preserved for future generations.

We had a wonderful experience at Andalusia. We were able to walk around and see firsthand the scenes of many of Flannerys stories--Hulgas hayloft, Asburys milking barn, the tree line, to name a few. What a privilege to see the house and the room where Flannery wrote such wonderful stories. Our guide answered all our questions and had interesting information to share. We loved our experience and are so grateful for the restoration that has been done. For the work still needing to be done: Bruce Springsteen. He is rich and he loves Flannery. :-)

My wife and I both enjoy reading Flannery OConnor so wed long wanted to visit Andalusia. We visited on a rainy Saturday. Because of the weather, we were the only group on the tour nonetheless, it was excellent. The tour goes throughout the first floor of the house, including of course Flannery OConnors bedroom, where she also did her writing. We enjoyed learning more about her life and seeing the space where she lived. The college has been working hard to preserve the house and it shows. We were really impressed by how many artifacts were original, especially the random nicknacks--this made it seem like someones home rather than a museum. The guides (we had two) were excellent and really informative. Afterwards we wandered around the rest of the property, which served as a cow farm. Of course, we also stopped to see the peacocks! All around, it was a delightful visit.

Theyre not quite open yet, but if they can accomplish half of what they are hoping to do, then this place will be a gem of preservation.
