I love this area! im one of the many who love this area! this area is always surronded by people taking photos and the parking is on the streets it does get packed but its such a worth it little spot to stop and take photos if you are in Miami. it does look alot bigger in photos and movies so its hard to take photos when everyone is in each isle of lights lol. its pretty and worth it though.
The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU at Miami South Beach presents a cultural intersectionality between 17th century South Florida and Latin-American Jewish photographed historiography and contemporary artistry. The museum, although not a formal holocaust museum, its modernity was bequeathed from an Orthodox Jewish Synagogue of old. Adorned by hindsight cultural ambiance and past socio-religious philosophical thought, the museum is a synthesized exhibition of curated chronological excellence. The narrated tour guide highlighted unknown and subtle details which brought greater attraction to the mounted photographs and artifacts. Though, for me, the most beautiful piece of artwork was the hand crafted The Tish of The Lamed Vavniks by Steve Marcus, 2017. The miniature Rabbī were carved from Bass wood, colored by Milk paint, Tung oil and Torāh ink. Exquisite!Other artifacts of beauty was a Sefer Torāh (The Pentateuch), a dress and hand gloves decorated with seashells, an illustrious 944-page Rothchild Miscellany Hebrew illuminated manuscript, and two 14th century German-Jewish wedding rings with internally placed prayers. So much more aesthetics to see, therefore, upon your visit, allow your eyes to witness the plethora of beauteousness.I believe the overall narrative of the history exhibited throughout the museum is a message of cohesive culture unified with progressive religious thought possesses the potentiality to produce fortified communities, foreign and domestic. I think the museum is a perfect representation of what a people can be should they choose to be. Theres much to be seen and gleaned from the museum. Im sure anyone visiting the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU will experience a cultural immersion into a local people who preserved their history for present-day study and life-long learning.מי ייתן ושלום ושגשוג יהיו בשפע בחייו של הנלמד היטב והמודע ביותר מבחינה רוחנית. אלוהים גדול!Enjoy the museum and the atmophere of sunny South Beach Miami, Florida.
Thank you for a great museum. keeping our history alive.
A beautiful interior of an old synagogue perfectly preserved (or should I say restored;-) In addition to a very interesting historical exhibition, the museum offers a refreshing experience of artwork by Mira Lehr (A Walk in the Garden) her works -almost like dream catchers- hang around the main part of the synagogue creating almost a magical ambiance... when you enter the space on the left hand side you may experience a bit of a shock;-) It’s an interesting presentation of photography by Zachary Balber: TAMIM... The staff of this place is very friendly and knowledgeable and if you ask, I am sure you will learn a lot about the history of the Jewish community in Florida...
Very powerful experience. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a day activity in the Miami area
Lovely Lieber exhibits. Saw interesting movie and an artist talk. Worth the visit. No longer an active synagogue.
Very inviting, well-curated, informative museum with insightful and friendly docents. Dives deep into the crucial role of Miamis Jewish community in the citys history, and the impact of Miami on the community (its an art deco synagogue!). Contemporary and historical art from around the world is also featured. If youre in Miami looking for museums, this is essential.
Its small but it packs a punch! Looks are so deceiving because I thought this would be a quick tour. We went to the Holocaust memorial right around here, and the Jewish Museum went with the information hand in hand. It was so touching to see all the artifacts and panels inside the museum. FIU students get in free by the way.
I went a few years ago. Interesting place.
This place is inspiring and lovingly maintained. The sweet older lady that helped me was so kind. I cant wait to go back with my friends to learn more about Miami.
I think it is wonderful place for learning part of Jewish History. The workers are very friendly.
Little known gem of a museum on history of Jews in Florida. Nice gift shop, too.
I loved this museum so much that I trained to be a docent here. +Very interesting Mosaic perm exhibit, plus 2-3 special exhibits. +Museum housed in important art-deco former synagogue in South-beach area. +Beautiful Judaica very reasonably priced in gift shop. (- cafe closed and no kosher eatery nearby ;(
Beautiful museum. I learned a lot about history and art of the Jewish people. I loved their documentaries running on a loop. Very educational. I wish they had a parking lot but its South Beach, it will never happen.
I really loved touring this museum! My tour guide Janet was so knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend.
Very small space compared to other museums, but if you have a serious interest in Judiasm or other religions... The Jewish Museum is definitely worth the trip. Very friendly staff & funny security guard today... overall great experience. They do offer tours too! (But I didn’t go on one since I like to explore at my own pace).
Excellent museum chronicling early Florida life for the Jewish community.
Came here about 2 years ago for an event to celebrate the legacy of the schmatta trade in Miami. Very interesting and enlightening. Took a quick walk through to look at the exhibits. Jewish life in the 305. The building is an ex-synogague very beautiful built with care and love. You can feel the spirituality of the place even after conversion to a museum.
Pleasant small but well organized museum. Terrific docent staff. An interesting hour.
Learned many things about Jewish history for Florida
Very interesting place to visit very helpful guide
Great exhibits that were very informative and super friendly staff. Linda, one of the volunteers at the museum offered to give us a tour and she was very knowledgeable and welcoming.
Definitely a nice place to visit if your looking for some cultural and history. Its a very beautiful and informative place.
Outstanding museum. It was far better than I expected.
Caroline Blumberh was an excellent tour guide!!!!! I really did enjoy my visit!
Interesting and well kept museum to preserve this part of local history of both Miami Beach and S Florida
Fascinating little museum, a friend and I (neither of us Jewish) went whilst in Miami and it was a lovely way of hearing about the history of Florida through the eyes of the Jewish community. The building is beautiful too.
Good for short visit. 30min to 45min. Special exhibitions are happening regularly. $12 for adults. 20% to 30% over priced (in My openion).
Very small with not many things to see .... no actual history... only contribution to America in last 150 years
Good to see if you want to learn about the Jewish people who lived in Florida.
Filled with fascinating facts of Florida Jewish history, beautiful architecture.

It was closed
Very nice museum. Enjoyed the visit!
Beautiful and informative.
Amazing institution, great for dialogue and history.
I visited this museum a few years ago. I try to visit every museum a city has to offer, so I write this review a little biased due to my positive view of all museums. The volunteer at the museum asked me how I heard about the museum and if I am Jewish. I told her the internet and that I am not Jewish. She then asked if I knew this was a Jewish museum. I told her yes and that I enjoy all museums. That was kind of awkward. Regarding the museum, it was interesting if you really like Florida or Jewish history or the combination of the two. I like Florida history, so I found the museum worthwhile. I would go again if Im in the area.
ALot of history about jewish people
Good stories of jewish involvements in Florida.
Amazing place, very well organized and explains the essence of the Jewish culture and the presence of the community in Miami. At the begging of the visit, a volunteer guide (Howard) gave us a very nice explanation about the roots of the Jewish community in Miami.
Wonderful history lessons...
Nice exhibit
Very poor learning experience. The guide didnt introduce us to the main exposition because he didnt like it.
Very informative, a little smaller then I expected. Clean facilities
Small but with history. Here you can have information about the history of the Jewish community in Florida . It keeps the heritage from this Jewish community.
My first time. I feel that there should have been more photos, to educate aboult the culture (race and religion).
Very interesting information but the place has too much information given in a very old fashion way.
Interesting collection of early Florida Jewish history.
Am not Jewish but outstanding museum and guides. It is more than you you would expect. Specializes on the history of Jewish Community in Florida, especially contributions and their historical milestones in assisting in the governmental field.
Great show opening on October 3.
May 2016 - great sculpture exhibit and unique architecture, free admission on Saturdays, no photography allowed though
Good place for events.
Nice place
Good exhibitions, friendly staff / volunteers, great gift shop
Worth a visit if you have an interest in Jewish history and have some extra time in Miami Beach. The museum is housed in a former synagogue, and while the exhibit is somewhat confusing to follow (there is a lot of information squeezed into not a lot of room), there are very interesting bits of information and photos to be found throughout.
Very well done, beautifully presented history of Jewish people in Florida.
Its worth a stop if you are in the area.

Great
I like it
Very educating visit.
Worth a visit;
Fascinating
Tight security in the beginning was off-putting. I would have rather wandered than taken the mandatory tour
Shalom
Excellent
Worthwhile
Awesome educational facility.
Welcome to Jewish Museum of Florida.
Must see, great history
I was trying to explain a situation about a cancellation over the phone and the lady was low key rude and hanged up.
