Our city tour became a private tour as we were the only couple on the bus due to Covid. Our driver Larry was the best! Very informative with a great sense of humor. We learned a lot about Memphis from him and had a wonderful time! At the end of our tour, my husband left his bag on the bus and we didnt realize it until about a half hour later. Larry went out of his way to drive the bus back to our location and he hand delivered my husbands bag. Thank you so much Larry! Youre the best! I highly recommend this company.

We had a great time. Our tour guide played guitar and sang. He was fun and informative. We learned so much. We also paid the extra to go to Sun Studios and that was super cool as well. Definitely worth it!

If the rule is masks are required then perhaps it should apply to everyone. Otherwise why bother stating it on the website. Tour Guide too loud, music distorted over speakers & was his own best audience...Didn’t live up to the expectation set by website

We did the Memphis ghost walking tour with Sheree and had a great time! It was a large group and we got a lot of walking and a lot of stories told! Not particularly scary, these stories of ghosts and haunts were more telling of the interesting history of Memphis (unknown to me) and really brought the city to life. Sheree was cool, informed and gave us great local recommendations. Definitely a great way to take in the city!

We did the ghost tour. It was amazing! Very interesting and not at all what I expected. It was more story telling than looking for actual ghosts. I loved it! We got to see some really cool parts of the city and get history that would have otherwise been missed. AMAZING!

I didnt actually get to take my tour with Backbeat Tours, because I booked the wrong date and only realized this after Id paid. I did leave 5 stars, however, because of how excellent their customer service was when I called to try to get a refund. At first they were quick to help me change my date to the right one, but after I explained my situation (and learned that they dont host tours in January, the month I was in town) they issued a speedy refund!

3.9.2019 We went on the 2:30PM - 5:30PM Memphis Discovery Tour. TLDR= We enjoyed ourselves, will they the ghost tour next.We bought our tickets online, $48 ea. I printed out receipt, but happily didnt need it. Tour started at a bar called Alfreds, it was easy to find tour manager and check in. Plenty of seating inside and out if you arrived early. I felt no pressure to purchase anything extra, drinks, food, etc. However you are welcome to do so. It was raining and the outside seating kept us set.You start on a tour bus. The seats, not being super cushiony were comfortable. Driver and narrator both did outstanding jobs. Learned about Memphis history, then stopped at Central BBQ. Inside Central you are given a drink (12oz?) of your choice (soda or tea), escourted to a private room then fed a small plate that consists of pulled pork with sauce on a small bun, BBQ flavor potato chips, and a small sample of coleslaw. (I am not good at differentiating BBQ, so I will just say I liked it). We spent approximately 20 minutes here. Narrator answered questions the tour guest may have asked but didnt go on with tour history. This gave you time to eat in peace or meet your tour mates.Back on the buses we learn about blues, gospel, and jazz music, while on the way to the Rock & Soul Museum. Your stay here is about an hour which is plenty of time to view everything but not hear everything on the headphone tour. (Im not disappointed, just stating a fact) The R&SM starts with a 10minute film. You are then instructed how to use a cellphone shaped player attached to headphones. You then walk around the museum at your own pace punching in the number of the display your interested in hearing about. Next to various juke boxes were lists of songs you could punch in to hear in their entirety. (Hence the reason you cant listen to everything in an hour)The bus then takes you to the Loraine Hotel where Martin Luther King Jr was shot. You are allowed to get off the bus and take pictures. We also learned about the Civil Rights movement. I must reiterate that the narrator is knowledgeable and quick witted when asnwering peoples questions.Next we were shown some beautiful churches and the history behind them. The preists and nuns stayed and cared for people with yellow fever, and much of the population died from the disease. The Peabody Hotel is known for having ducks that live there. They walk from their room on the Skywalk floor to the fountain in the center of the ground floor in the morning and vice versa at night. You are here 15 minutes before the duck parade. Most of the good viewing sections are taken, but its not completely packed yet. After the duck parade I took a few minutes to take pictures of the inside of the Peabody. They have antique phones and phone booths for example. The tour is almost over. You are taken down millionaire row. A street with the largest houses in Memphis. Learning about who owns them and how they made their fortune helps add to their charm. We stop by an appartment complex that Elvis lived in as a child. We learned many facts about Elvis and his family, also that Memphis has an Elvis week during which the appartment is open to public tours. The last trek of this tour brings you by the St Judes Children Hospital. Many facts and figures are given about the hospital and its founder. I feel the St Judes information was a perfect end to a tour about Memphis.I truly felt I got my moneys worth and enjoyed myself immensely. I encourage everyone to take this tour.

Great tour. Two hour walking tour of some of the more horrific and creepy sites in Memphis. Makes plenty of stops for talks so you are not actually walking for two hours. The tour meets at B.B. Kings and you have to check in 15 min before it starts.

Great tour guide. The price was reasonable. And great experience. However, our tour guide said she only makes money off of tips. There were roughly 30 people in our group at $20 a pop is $600. How in gods name is she only compensated with tips. What does the company offer. I looked it up online and there aren’t weird expense to running a walking tour company. I just don’t want to support exploitive companies. I wish I would have known.

This tour was completely worth it. Our tour guide was awesome. Full of information about Memphis. In my opinion this tour was even better than the historical walk. You have to go above and beyond to earn a tip from one of these tours, from us, and we did tip our guide. She had a bachelors degree in history and it showed. She answered all of our questions intelligently. If your a ghost hunter or just interested in history, this tour is definitely for you. I would recommend this to anyone. Great stuff.

For our first time in Memphis, my family and I took the Discovery tour with Larry. He was absolutely amazing and caring for all of the people on the tour. The tour was highly informational and educational. It was a 3 hour tour that physically allows you to view and visit historic places and sites. After seeing the places it helps you create a list of places to visit in depth later while you are visiting Memphis!!!

My wife and I took the 90 minute city Mojo tour. Eric was our host. Arguably the best value for money tour Ive been on-ever. It was bucketing down with rain, but it didnt matter. Eric was informative, witty, and a damn fine vocalist and musician to boot. Thoroughly recommended.

They offer many different type tours, 15 or so. Architecture, history, ghost, and so on. The ghost tour, even for non-believers like myself, was super fun and educational. More like a history of unfortunate events than a bunch of tales from the crypt.

My fiancé and I were visiting Memphis so we took the Backbeat Tours Mojo Tour and it was AMAZING! Super informative and fun, with a musician playing live music interspersed with knowledge about the city! They even pass out tamnourines and shakers for you to get involved in the music. I would DEFINITELY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Memphis!

The guide kept running off and leaving us because my daughter was unable to walk as fast as she did, and also there was another woman using a cane that was left behind too... Multiple times we had to yell at the group to let them know to wait up. ALSO I was not impressed with the fact that we sat and heard Ghost Stories about the Orpheum from ACROSS THE STREET!! As we could not even look IN the doors, I dont feel it should be one of the stops you list as a TOUR STOP. Then at the last stop, most of the doors were locked and there was a private party going on there.. I did not enjoy it and felt that it was cheap and not well planned... We could have sat in the BAR and heard ghost stories....
