It has been a great year working out with Nate and Thomas, and the P13 friends. Each training session is filled with positive vibes, focused training and a fun experience -- their energy is always inspiring and catching! Their training philosophy is oriented around connecting our mind and body in order to gain strength, mobility and endurance--while giving you a solid work out on the row/bike/ski/weights. They really get to know you and your goals (even if its to get in a sweaty work out). They also have great movement tips and skill-building on social, which has helped me with flexibility.

Im writing in regards to a very unfortunate experience I had with your staff at the Golds Gym in Downtown LA. Ive been a long time member at Golds Gym and Ive appreciated many of the services the gym offers. 2 weeks ago, I went in to freeze my account at Golds Gym due to concerns of the ongoing pandemic. I had asked the front desk to freeze both my account and my girlfriends account. The guy at the desk confirmed he had frozen both accounts.On July 1st, to my dismay, my girlfriend was still charged. I called your staff and spoke to two people, one at the front desk, a woman, who was little help, and Jermaine Scott. The front desk woman told me that I had to go into another Golds gym in order to freeze both accounts. Jermaine told me that I had to go in person to have my account frozen (when I did). He also said that I did not give 10 days in advance for a freeze (how do we predict an ongoing crisis?). He then claimed that it wasnt their responsibility that I was still charged (then whos is it?).I politely asked for a refund, and Jermaine told me it was too late and my girlfriend had been charged already. He continued to argue that it was my fault I did not give them advance notice, and there was nothing he could do.. except offer me a free month.My issues with this are:One of my accounts was frozen, the other wasnt. Your staff did not do their job freezing both accountsYour staff was rude and blamed their customers for their staffs errors. They took zero responsibility, and gave misinformation.Your staffs lack of consideration over customer concerns. I specifically said that my girlfriend and I did not feel safe therefore we did not want to continue going to the gym. Sorry but offering an additional month to the gym does not resolve that.Overall, very poor customer experience. Please be nicer to people especially during these times.

Lack of service, Services are not what they promise. Also their hygiene rules are not enforced, they just want to join people to collect their money. Steam machine very old and rusty. It breaks all the time and they take too long to get it back to work, the same as all of their gym services

I am writing this review in regard to continued poor customer service experiences at Golds Gym at Fig at 7th. Like many other reviewers, I have gotten no response or outright refusal to refunding me for incorrectly charged membership and personal training fees during the pandemic. Their staffs lack of concern for their members health and safety is predatory.I have been a member at the Golds Gym in Downtown LA for close to a year now, with general membership and personal training sessions. About a month ago, I requested to freeze my membership and my personal training sessions at Golds Gym due to concerns of the ongoing pandemic.On July 1st, I was still charged for one of my account’s membership dues as well as personal training. To rectify the incorrect charges and ask for a refund, I’ve called your staff – who never pick up the phone. I reached out to my personal trainer at Gold’s to try to resolve this situation (this shouldn’t be his responsibility in the first place). And he was gracious enough to have Jaime give me a call and to formally place my account on hold (why wasn’t this done in the first place?). I asked for a refund from Jaime, and he said he didn’t have the ability to give me a refund and I would have to speak with Marco. He said Marco would definitely give me a call back to follow up on this. I never received that call. So I then emailed customer retention at Gold’s Gym and received very curt and unhelpful replies to my concerns. They had me reach out to ABC services – who then told me that they cannot process refunds without the authorization of Gold’s Gym Socal.Your staff did not do their job. Your staff has taken zero responsibility, keeps giving misinformation, and does not resolve my issues. Your staffs lack of consideration over customer concerns during a global pandemic makes me want to never return.Clearly, my health and safety is not the gym’s top priority as the Gold’s Gym website so states. I am so disappointed and frustrated at repeated poor customer experiences.I would not recommend this gym to anyone. You can find similarly priced gyms very close by where at least the staff will treat you as a human being.

Honestly when I first stepped into Golds Gym for the 1st time I was very intimidated. I felt that this was not the right environment for me as a starter. This all changed when I met Joshua. I forgot if he was the manager of the sales department but one thing is for sure.He is a leader and I say that since he changed my entire prospective when coming to the gym. Instead of trying to sell me right up front. He went ahead and asked me about my fitness goals and showed me what type of equipment to use in order to help me achieve my goal. He was very well informed throughout the entire tour as well as very caring towards what I needed. When it came down to memberships he went ahead and presented the options that were available. Honestly they were a little more pricier than 24 or LA but on thing is for sure; the quality that Joshua represent not just for him, but for the club as well made me commit with Golds. Ever since, Joshua has followed up with me and has encouraged me in my fitness journey and in the small time that I have spent at this club I have seen changes in my body that I never wouldve thought Id see. I like to thank Joshua for helping me see the bigger picture not just in myself but in fitness as well and would definitely recommend him to everyone since for someone who was young acted extremely professional with me and my goals. Best of luck to this guy in the future as he is for sure destined to go far with his skill as well as thank you golds gym for helping me in my journey!

Great gym for 10 years Their billing policy and promos are kind sketchy sometimes. I pay a yearly maintenance fee and I get told sometimes that only one towel or that there is no towels available. A bummer. Quality and enthusiasm is always felt here. Latin CARDIO is the best! Alfredo is an amazing instructor. Members need more seasonal incentives to create memorable staff and environment.

Im just trying to warn you but i have had a really bad cough and with the pandemic going on i called the gym to try and cancel my membership or at least put it on a hold because of the pandemic i didnt want to expose anyone to the covid-19 because im still waiting for my test results i cant say i tested positive but as i mentioned i had a really bad cough and didnt want to expose anyone and golds gym wasnt having it they didnt let me cancel nor put a hold on my account even after i told them i could possibly have the covid-19.....also per THEIR terms you can cancel if its due to medical

Been a member for about 3 mnts now. I really like it! Alfredo who teaches Body Sculpt on M,W,F, is probably one of the best trainers I’ve had in a really long time! Great trainer and just an overall great guy. GG is lucky to have him because he could probably start his own business and do very well… seriously! Anyhow, the only complaint I would have is that I wish they kept the men’s locker room cleaner. I’m loyal for the moment until a) Alfredo leaves, or b) the locker room gets worst.

The trainers always are making sure you have proper form in order to achieve the maximum from the diversified work out routine. If your looking for an intense, constantly different workout, great trainers, nice people...then go to Golds Gym

I moved here from NYC 9 months ago and upon moving here, I joined 24 hour fitness. I no longer like 24 hour fitness, so I wanted to try out Golds using the online guest pass that they offer. I came in to activate it and was initially allowed in with my NY license. I come back a couple of days later and was then told I couldnt come in because of my NY state license after I had already been told that I was cleared to try out the gym for the week. So because of this, I will be joining LA fitness instead. You guys lost a potential customer because of this less than smart state id stipulation. And honestly, this particular Golds gym isnt all that great anyway...very congested with obnoxious energy overall...very overrated. So thank you. Im sure I dodged a bullet and will be putting my money elsewhere.

Update March 1, 2020.Requested for a small towel. Male black receptionist didnt bother to locate one from this big bin and just said none. Hes not even busy. I left and got the big towel instead but came back after 5 minutes since theres a different person manning the reception area. She searched and gave me one small towel. To management, one lazy receptionist could damage your image.Original post: Clean compared to other local gyms. Very crowded during peak hours. Parking validation for 3 hours. Friendly staff.Update after 3months (from 4 to 3 stars)Free weights scattered all around the gym. Management cannot discipline the members to re rack their equipments. Some members really dont care.

Golds Gym DTLA is fantastic. They have a Pool, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Showers, and Sauna. Not to mention a Huge Boxing Ring in the middle of the Gym. They also give you nice warm towels when you check in. I dropped allot of weigh there.

Bad experience as a drop in visitor. I paid $60 for a week pass that Drew Roublick, the front desk employee said was good for all locations except GG Venice Beach. This was not the case when the North Hollywood GG denied my pass. Spoke with the GG DTLA manager Irene, but she was unable to help me. GG = no gains central. Will tell others to steer clear.

They do a great job of maintaining this gym for how old it is. It is over 15 years old, and still looks impressively new, mostly due to upgraded equipment, and a solid cleaning regimen.Pros are water bottle filling stations, towel service, and a solid offering of equipment options for a decent price.Cons are that they don’t have enough cleaning solution or hand sanitizer, there is a huge brand new area they built out promising to be “a new workout area for all members” that is only specific paid group classes (figures), and the fact that it’s going to be busy pretty much any time. However, I don’t have to wait on equipment often, and for comparison, the brand new LA fitness nearby (previously a member) looks about 15 years older than the Gold’s already.

All they care about is getting your money. At first glance everything looks great, incredible but once you start using the facility you realize they don’t care about anything except having you sign a contract and getting your money.Was under renovations when I first started and then when they finally finished the only way to use the new section was to pay more money on top of your membership.Tried adding a family member, they tricked her into signing a separate account instead of putting us on the same plan, again just after your money.Complete waste of time, fake staff, definitely check out other places. Stay away from Gold’sI wanted to add on to my comment, they reach out and try to bully you into changing your response, they already got my money just leave me alone.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The WORST gym, RUDE and condescending management. They promised a year ago that the remodeled portion of the gym would be open by March at the latest.1 year later, it’s still closed off. Every machine is 2-3 people deep in wait time, even at 6am. Only 6 stair masters and at least 1 is always broken. Try to get a leg day in before work? Allow at least 2 hours due to overcrowding and machine wait times. (Not to mention with all of the promotions, you’re likely waiting on a machine that a non paying guest is on)Today I was trying to work legs and was asked to move twice, first by a group Instructor and then a golds staff member. There is NO ROOM for me to get a workout in. At this point I’m so frustrated I ask the staff member for a partial refund ... my membership expires in March. I’m not rude, I just explain my situation and my poor experience. That I’ve hung in there for the past year in hope that the new area would open and alleviate space...First staff member says yes we can offer a refund, let me get my manager. Next manager seems confused and unsure. Next they bring over another manager that talks down to me and tells me that the cancellation fee is more than it would be to continue my last few months. (I paid 15 months up front for my husband and I the day we joined)He walks me around the gym and tells me “this isn’t even busy” we are usually a lot busier. Consider that I was asked to move twice and had to wait 10 min for a stair master today... and that’s not even busy according to the manager.I also ask about the monthly promotions, they are always advertising to bring a friend for free, bring your mom for free, etc.. this gym is TOO CROWDED & paying members are MISERABLE!!! Only response is we are a franchise... I get that it is likely not in his control. But if you are upper management at this gym and you are reading this ... feedback is a gift.The staff at gold’s made promises they didn’t keep by stating that the new area would be open. It is not. The manager does not offer anything to retain me as a client. Further, he does not offer any type of refund for the balance 4 months of my membership: December 2018 - March 2019. At the end of the day I am unhappy, and will not be renewing my memebership. Further, I would never recommend this gym & would go out of my way to warn others NOT to join this gym.

The chlorine in the jacuzzi literally made me cough when I inhaled deeply and dried out my eyes for the rest of the night. The facility and equipment is clean and neat which is nice. Most of the extra tech features on the treadmills and other machines dont function properly. The facility gets super crowded so try to go during off peak times.

Management is terrible. Since I’ve joined the gym, every single email I’ve sent has gone to a black hole. When I speak to someone at the front desk, they give wrong information and claim someone will follow up but never do. They however, have no problem texting me and calling me several times about spending more money to get a trainer and etc. I’ve been a member of Gold’s Gym in 4 different states prior to this and have never had such a terrible experience.

First of all: this place will swindle you. They make it so the only time you can cancel your membership is during the work day (10-6 Mon - Fri) which doesnt work ever for my schedule. Then if you cancel your card, they will send you to collections EVEN IF YOUR YEAR LONG COMMITMENT WAS BEEN FULFILLED. They do not try to help in this matter at all because this is how they make money: ripping people off.Secondly: the place is trash. You are going to get some kind of fungus here. The pool is full of sweaty cloudy water. The steam room smells like dirty underwear.The better business bureau also gives them an F rating.Dont go here.

The equipment is great and staff there are very friendly. If you are serious about workout and body building, there is no better place than Gold Gym for sure. If you care more about life style than real workout, you can go to Equinox. The only thing I thing it can be improved is that the wifi there is not stable enough.

Its...ok... some of the staff (ESPECIALLY bunny at the front and Eric in PT) are exceptional but for the most part they are pretty uncaring ESPECIALLY on the management end. Usually about 35% of the equipment is out of order and gets fixed God only knows when. Pretty cluttered (especially for a gym.) With people leaving weights EVERYWHERE and no visible cleaning team to speak of, so if youre clumsy, beware. Pool area is clean and the pool ph (I check every time) is always great. Terrible place for people who are new to fitness (like me) and definitely comes off VERY corporate. Couldnt care less about your fitness or gym going experience after they have your $$$.

... Its only gotten worse. Getting in to the gym from the only feasable parking is a disaster on its own (not the gyms fault I know). Once youre in no what time of day, its a complete mess. Equipment thrown everywhere, not nice or rude staff... just there, filfy locker rooms and even worse restrooms. Almost every machine needing attention and plates/pins to set weight are covered in rust.

A very crowded (even for a gym) very noisy (even for a gym) place with exceptionally rude staff, poorly kept rusty and broken equipment and a barely conscious management staff. Additionally their personal trainer caused me an elbow injury that saw me stop lifting weights for 2 weeks. After this I canceled the service but I was still charged for it. In short, this place sucks.

Mario the equipment manager is fantastic. I told him to please get the ham string stretching machine (#92) fixed and he told me that the part is on order. Every time I comment on something to Mario, he takes care of it. He is truly an attribute to Golds Gym and he is one of the reasons Im still there. Thank you Mario.

Pros - This facility has a wide range and decent amount of equipment. My trainer is good. It has a pool, steam room, sauna, and hot tub. They give towels at the entrance. Parking validation up to three hours is useful.Cons - This facility is extremely overcrowded at peak hours and even during downtime it is still alot of people there. Because of overcrowding, the mens restroom stalls usually require you to wait in line to use one. There is not much privacy in the mens locker room and if you want a little more privacy you have to pay for it. There is not enough squat racks or free bars here. People are not courteous with time spent on machines or benches. Also people do not put back their weights. The parking facility terrible here because it is very overpriced and overcrowded especially when leaving from here. The pool is not deep. There is not much space in the locker room. Most people here dress inappropriately. Machines are often broke. Gym membership is expensive for the quality when you consider that the YMCA has many of the same equipments but with less crowding and deeper pools. Long walk from the parking lot to the gym. I once hurt myself here and was limping in pain and barely able to walk but not one staff member asked if I was alright or if I needed assistance to my car or if I need paramedics. I had to ask another gym member to help me. When you get a class schedule there is no description on the classes, it just tells you the time and title. Too many people not even working out up here, they are just hanging out. Not sure if they sanitize the mat that everyone uses by the exercise balls or if they ever sanitize the smaller mats.

Im a proud member of Golds gym and work out at Hollywood, Glendale, Venice. Never havr i been to such a low quality location. They only have 2 spinning cycles neither work by the way, also 5stair masters 3 of dont work. The staff seem very unprofessional, i came once near closing and they were rushing us out of the locker room with an associate screaming for us to hurry up because she was going to do a locker sweep. I asked them for out of order signs to place on tbe machines for them, but the front desk insisted they knew, and had no signs this location needs a corporate visit asap, an i will be calling corporate tomorrow to suggest just that.

When I signed up the manager Bryan said my first and last month would be covered. Today I canceled and a female worker said that I still owe last months fee. Do not sign up at this gym. They are liars and have very little integrity. If you sign up youll have a one year commitment and with a dreaded cancellation fee of $150. Plus theyll charge you $45 twice a year for maintenance. There are some odd fees that will show up in your bank statements as well. Once you finish your one year commitment they still will charge for the last month despite the manager telling you other wise. They only care about your money and lie on their contracts. Save your money. The gym is crowded and so is the street intersection.

This is probably the best gym ever been to, and it was the best decision of my life. I went as fat piece of lard, and I felt really out of place next to all those muscular hunks. When I went to the juice bar I met this really nice employee, I think his name was Joshua, and he started a conversation with me asking me about what I wanted to at the gym. I told him exactly what I wanted and he took it on himself to make sure I got the right drink and right workout routine to ensure the best results. Employees like this are what makes a gym great or should I say GOLDEN.

Its always super crowded from 5-9 pm. You almost always have to wait for machines and weights. Theres not enough space to do stretching exercises and whatnot on the side either. Referred a friend there and never received my bonus points and the front desk person, who said shell take care of it, never did. Asked her again about it and she doesnt even remember me. There are water filters but water there tastes like chlorine. Personal trainer I got didnt seem to care and didnt really train me on how to actually do workouts.

This gym is okay. The equipment nice and the classes are great but I have to commend one trainer in particular, Sunny Fayed. Ive had trainers in the past and Ive had some irritating moments with staff but time and time again, Sunny has tried to go over and beyond. Hes punctual and has a written plan for your sessions. He holds you accountable and will push you to be better. Thanks Sunny for being a stand up guy.

I barely started going to this gym, and to be completely honest, its not the best gym out there. Its quite crowded, but that all depends on the hour you go to the gym. Anyways, the staff is nice. I met this one staff at the bar with glasses. I think his name was Josh or something. He helped me out and gave a great shake! I loved his enthusiasm and charisma. Others too, but I didnt ask for their names.

A team/ staff member stole my $40 yeti water bottle. If you leave any item alone for more than a minute, an employee will come by and grab it. They usually leave it at the lost and found but this item must have been too good to pass up. The other staff were very unhelpful/ unwilling to look for it. They were more I interested in their phones & own conversations.

Do not sign up for this gym. The staff at the front desk and the managers are extremely rude. If you do have to sign up be careful because when you give your notice to cancel your membership the front desk staff are not trained good enough to cancel it for you even after you give a 30 day notice to them.I contacted the manager and she had the nerve to say that I never canceled my membership and I just canceled my tanning membership with them. She said she would call her corporate customer service office and that was a week ago.Today my account still hasnt been canceled and the manager just avoids every phone call when I contact this gym. This gym is always pretty dirty, as in no one ever wipes off the machines after theyre done using them. Other then that, Golds has a great selection of equipment and low cost membership.

The deterioration of infrastructure, maintenance, service, equipment, and professionalism continues unabated. A planned expansion of the facility will provide a brief, temporary distraction from the abysmal level of staff professionalism, then reality will hit again.In the past, you knew who the manager was. Now, its a revolving door of nameless faces who make no effort to learn their customers names. Why should they? Theyre gone in 60 seconds.The conduct of newer gym members is also an issue. There is nothing wrong with educating them to be considerate of other gym members. Ive seen signs at other gyms to remind users to re-rack the weights. They should also be educated not to hoard several barbells and dumbbell sets, or to set their personal items on a vacant workout bench or equipment. If they dont comprehend simple gym etiquette, then return their subscription fees.I continue to use this gym ONLY because of its location. Increasingly, I have been making the 40-minute drive to Arcadia or the 20-minute drive to Hollywood to experience a clean, well-managed gym where the customers are respectful of each other.When I first joined (nearly 9 years ago) there was a sense of exclusivity and class. The word that comes to mind now: Disgusting. I will be changing gyms at the end of my current subscription.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BEING a MEMBER AT GOLDS GYM downtown LA. It was BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS COME TRUE. Everything was spotless and in perfect condition and functioning. I was supported, encouraged, inspired and treated with dignity, honor and utmost courtesy by the staff who were always proactive in making my experience enriching and so healing. Been coming here for 15 years. The best time to come is early in the morning, although the pool gets really crowded with the Asian grandmas early on (not that its a bad thing). My only gripe is that the remodeling and expansion that has taken place over the past couple of years kind of reduced the individual workout and stretching areas just so they can have more space dedicated to personal trainers. I get that it is their profit model, but it stinks that the new room is empty most of the time when people can be utilizing the space.

Multiple and severe cases of service dog discrimination. There is YouTube video of a manager here telling me that he knew the Amazon paperwork is fake and its illegal to ask for it but told me I would have to get something like that to have a service dog in the facility and even then access to the showers and hot tub will be withheld. And the bathrooms no toilets for the disabled. They have been warned and educated repeatedly. There was 7 years of interaction before they canceled me. I also have proved the company discriminates at its other locations period again all available on YouTube. Please voice your concerns to management if you go to this club

Over crowded gym .... Small gym and too many people with the worst Wi-Fi I have ever experienced in a gym. 0.5 mps?? Terrible Wi-Fi ... Come on guys its almost 2020 your Wi-Fi is absolutely useless.....The Jacuzzi /whirlpool/hot tub is always gross .. With dirty foam floating around the the top of the water and on the sides of the Jacuzzi /whirlpool/hot tub .. The pool and hot tub areas are not clean

I have seen such a difference in the last month. The maintenance are on top of the cleanliness, the locker rooms are so much cleaner, especially the womens. (They even fixed the toilets finally) You can tell that the team really enjoys what they do as they are always smiling and welcoming, even the management is available now if you ever need anything. They even use my name now when I come in. I dont really care for them restricting the towels, but I appreciate Golds efforts to help the water crisis in CA. Even if it means I have to go back and ask for another towel. Overall I am happy I stayed and look forward to being a member of Golds.

Can get very crowed...would literally wait 15mins or more on equipment during busy hours.... jacuzzi only has one good strong jet that everyone tries to hog .. In the two months i was a member before i cancelled the jucuzzi was broken once per month (each time down for a week or more)...showers oftened clogged.

Great location but very small, and VERY OVERSOLD. Unless you go at off-peak hours expect huge crowds and a wait for most equipment. Staff however is always friendly and helpful. They just need more space and perhaps a slightly less aggressive sales agenda.

I love this gym! Its phenomenal!By far, this is my favorite gym in Los Angeles. The towel service is great, theres a boxing ring, and theres punching bags too. They also have kettlebells and a full pool, sauna, hot tub, and steam room. The validated parking is really nice too!Ive never used the personal training services here, but I do know that their equipment is kept in great shape and their staff is very friendly. I used to come here almost every morning before work, and I was so bummed that I moved because I wanted to keep on working out here!

This Golds Gym location is extremely small but I guess it does the job if you come at the right time to avoid the crowd. Its really easy to pack this place up because of how small it is.I do appreciate the various toys that are offered to fitness enthusiasts, which makes it different from your typical L.A. Fitness or 24 Hours Fitness.The parking is validated for up to 2 hours, I believe. Dont quote me on this but it helps. Parking lot can be crazy, too, and is not the best designed.

It’s a high-end gym, very popular. Love going there. You get 3 hours of working out with free parking/that the front desk people stamp/validate for you. Target is upstairs, Victoria Secret, MAC cosmetics, eateries, movie nights, lots of booze...etc.

Recently when Ive gone theyve made me feel very motivated and like a boss I got a membership at the beginning of the year and I felt alone as if it was up to me to do this alone without support. The staff however changed that for me. Recently when Ive gone theyve made me feel very motivated and like a boss over my body as if I could do anything. The person that hyped me up the most was Joshua. Joshua from the juice bar is so caring towards giving you the best customer service even when the bar is full he finds a way to overcome the stress and still give you that feeling of being welcomed and it goes to show that if he could handle the stress I could handle my stress of conquering my body. Big shout out to him.

The gym itself isnt that bad. Its kind of a get what you pay for type place. The biggest problem is this place is always packed! There is never really a Down time during the week. The hours are great during the week, I just wish they were open until 11pm on the weekends. There are more people living downtown these days and I think these folks would attend the gym on those late hours as well. The juice bar closes an hour before closing right on the dot. They should be a little bit more flexible when it comes to their juice bar closing hours. Then again this isnt a country club so I guess thats just how they are going to treat you.

Its an okay gym. The only reason why its so pricey is because of the pool and the steam room. Other than that, no membership should be over $30 just for weights and cardio machines.This place is crowded most of the time and dumbbells are never racked correctly. So if youre looking for 30 or 45 lbs dumbbells, good luck with that. All their bench press somehow are always taken. Youre better off doing dumbbell press, if you can find a flat bench that is.Staff has improved their customer service. Sales will always be pushy towards trying to sell. Simply because they are franchise.
