The dome, wow, whats not to love. When I was a kid my dad took me to see How the West Was Won here in real, bon-a-fide Cinerama. Three projectors in lock, wow, that was awesome. Not many opportunities to see something in Cinerama; if you get the opportunity Id deffo give it a peeperoni with your eyeballs and ear sockets.

I went here because Id just moved to LA and so many of my coworkers told me to check it out. After a few months, I finally did. It was nice, but thats as good as Id say. It was cool and definitely gave a different feel to the movie but its not something Id go out of my way for, and its way out of my way considering I have a movie theater 5 min away from my apartment

Lackluster atmosphere. Really expensive. Relatively uncomfortable seats, like solid wood or plastic covered with worn fabric. Good projection. The dome used to be really cool until they did a really weird thing with the screen masking on the bottom. Nothing wrong with a curved screen if you know what to do with it. And for decades here it looked good. Now instead of straight edges like all normal movies, the dome screen tries to hide the odd picture geometry from its severe projection angle by curving the bottom corners so it looks like a big open mouth.

DOOOOOOME. Been wanting to go here since I moved to LA and the dome doesnt disappoint. Very cool ambiance, lots of seats with ample arm room and comfort, but the leg room is very crowded. The dome has one of the most unique approaches to movie going in the country let alone in a state of California, and thats something thats hard to say.It goes without saying that the acoustics in the movie theater are very unique given its ceiling structure those rooms are usually reserved for premium movies AKA the movie that they know is going to get them the most money. However unlike a traditional movie theater in the middle of a plaza or a designated business district and strip mall, the closed in space and variety of things you can do is kind of original when it comes to how it approaches the layout.Upon entering from the street side the 1st thing youre going to see to your right is an on rail sushi restaurant, the parking lot straight ahead, and the dome to the left all of which is within I can promise you it takes less than 25 to 30 steps to get to the entrance of either.Inside however you can tell the level of premium quality has blended well with artistic integrity. Although its not commonly mentioned the dome does have an in house aesthetic leaning toward art one display sometimes is a psinted bench giving its opinion on North American capitalism and greed within our economy and country, or sometimes its replicas of original movie outfits on display, connected to very intricate television screens set up in a wallpaper format to show various images promoting things. And a small concession stand instead of giving you the traditional movie junk food also offers books and reading material and is across the hall from a built-in restaurant. If there ever was a date night in California its in this area. That aside not even a full 2-3 minute drive down that same road is one of the staples of California a very large mom and pop movie and entertainment store that carries everything from VHS to Blu-rays of anything you want music included as well as fan memorabilia.Imagine if FYE possibly the last bastion of entertainment for sale, and the entire video entertainment section at your favorite Best Buy had a beautiful love child and then put it in a 2 to 3 story building. Not here to promote that probably review it at a later date, but rest assured if you looking for some form of fun go around the dome theres something for everyone.Feed the homeless iin the area too please, just cause they cant afford a movie doesnt mean they cant score some popcorn off you right?

How cool! A piece of movie history thats still open as it was. Highly recommended to see a remastered classic there (2001 was amazing) for full effect. The seats are new a comfy and it has its own snack bar with little wait.Cons: its hard to tell which movies are in it sometimes, and the arm rests dont fold up so its hard to console a loved one during a scary movie.

The sound is high tech and wonderful!I attended the showing of Lost in Space with Netflix producers, its movie stars and guest. Watching it in the dome on the big screen, hearing their sound track sounded soooo different as it aired a few days later sitting in my living room, lol.The theater is clean, has comfortable seating and good popcorn. I’ve only been to the arc light a handful of times but the movies I watched were never in the dome, until Blade Runner 2024, Watched a late night showing so there was only about 10 people in the theaters. Don’t get me wrong the dome was aesthetically pleasing and nice to finally see it but then again you’re there to watch a movie(in the dark). The movie ticket prices are a bit steep, concession stands were okay, gotta pay for parking and then deal with the chaos of getting out (that is if you’re seeing a night time showing with the nightclub across the street).

One of the great movie theaters of LA! Aside from having a great history (serving as the site of Hollywood premiers), this movie theatre has a breathtakingly large screen and interesting mid-century architecture in the Cinerama Dome. The other screens are not as large and the path to get tickets and then get into the cinerama dome is rather confusing but the lovely bar, the frequent displays of original costumes from newly-released movies, the efficient parking lot and the nice book/gift shop makes this multiplex a favorite of my most discerning cinephile friends.

There is no other movie going experience in Hollywood quite like The Dome. It is a fascinating relic from a bygone era, where they pioneered something called Cinemascope, which involved running 3 movie projectors simultaneously. The Arclight always offers a great experience and being able to sit in this piece of history is the cherry on top! You have to try it at least once.

Seats in the theatres are not as comfortable as one might expect at the premium prices charged at Arclight theaters. They are okay, just not great. Seats at AMC were more comfortable, bigger, and reclined much more. Ushers always make a welcome announcement before movie starts. Great sound system in theaters for movies like La La Land, which was phenomenal to see here. Lots of places to eat walking distance from here, too. Parking is $3 with validation in adjacent structure, or street parking if you can find it.
