My girlfriend and I enjoyed a beautiful and quiet walk here on a Sunday morning. The temperatures varied quite a bit depending on shade and face, so dress in layers. We went up Plymouth Creek trail to Golden Eagle trail, and then detoured along Meadowlark trail on the return. Intermittently quiet and shady, interspersed with views of Deer Creek Canyon with Denver visible in the background. At this time of year there was snow and ice at a few points, so I would recommend at least a hiking shoe or similar with good traction.
I have been hiking in Deer Creek Canyon for years. I love the trails, however I recommend going during the week as the people are fewer. But do go and check them out, if you are extra quiet you may even run into a deer or two. Love this area, plus the view from behind the hogback is spectacular.
Pretty nice trail thats relatively close to Denver. We had 5 in our group with a dog. The trails started to get a little crowded at noon and they got quite narrow. There was a man with a stroller that was having a terrible time haha. Getting to the scenic outcrop was worth the walk. Overall a moderate trail with great views.
These trails are fantastic back here. Its so close to Denver yes provides a peaceful get away. The trails or perfect for running. There are some steep and rocky sections but also some exceptional single track. If I am trying to get in a trail run this is my go to trail system to head to. I highly recommend checking it out.
My wife and I are flat-landers and we really enjoyed this hike. Challenging enough to get a minor workout and keep us intrigued, but easy enough to walk, smell the wild flowers and feel the cool mountain breeze. We had wild deer right on the trail with us to witness. The views were spectacular and carried from deep valley to peaks if Denver in the distance. For a beginner it was absolutely perfect!
Nice morning hike with great views! A little rocky, but not too steep.
Perfect place to hike for an hour or 2
Enjoyable 2.5 mile loop on the 2nd foothill in from the plains. Nice views. Definitely more trails available for the more adventurous.
Great hike 5.5 miles up and down.
Beautiful trails that are well maintained. Adequate parking and great views.
Favorite hiking trail. I have been come here for years.
3 trails. Each a heck of a hike.
Nice shade over table for a picnic. Clean restrooms. We didnt hike but several went on and came off trails while we were there. Old, young, dogs, alike seemed to enjoy. Great view of Denver through some great rock formations.
Close to the city but feels like youre far away
Just had a fire little while ago but the trails are still there. Great place to go hiking.
Great way to start a day with a hike here.
Beautiful scenery carried hike!
Very pretty views climbing up. Very scary as well. Ive seen people bike ride up and down the mountain top. It takes a lot of energy and it drains you mentally and physically. You can bring kids at any age and dogs. One bottle of water isnt enough though Ive seen others do so,which for myself was a bad idea. Heard it has rattle snakes but hasnt seen one. Going down is more easier then going up
Great views from many of the trails. This park is crowded but there is generally enough parking. It is a Jefferson County Open Space and there is no admission fee. The bathrooms are kept clean and well stocked. Trail maps are available at a covered station that has a,large map of the park. There are cleaning brushes to help get mud off boots during mud season. Trails are used throughout the year and snow shoeing and snow biking are a popular choice during the winter months. Wildflowers are enjoyed from spring and summer and may grow in abundance during years receiving above average amounts of precipitation. Most of the trails are multi use.It is a mecca for mountain bikers proving their stamina and skill on some very challenging rocky trails. For those of us that prefer a little less excitement, there are a few hiker only trails for those dogs and their humans trying to escape the cyclists. For those canines trying to keep cool, there are trails particularly higher up, that are tree covered. Plymouth Creek which flows most of the year, is an oasis for panting puppies whose humans are soft hearted enough to allow them to lie down in the cool water. There can be a line though and Fido may need to wait his turn.
If you love trail running, youll love this place. If you need an easy hike with great views and close to the city, youll love this place!
I love this place. So close to Denver, great selection of loops depending on my ambition level. Always well kept. The parking can get tied up on weekends but otherwise very accessible
Beautiful easy trail for the entire family.
Love hiking in Deer Creek.
Beautiful place for a nice hike!
Beautiful views!
Its rocky and steep in some places but that is what makes it so much fun. If your not sure footed Id stay along the base of the mountain. There is also mud through the trail during the spring season.
Very beautiful place.
Well kept trails
Great trails
This is a phenomenal place to mountain bike but I probably would not hike here as the views are not worth it. It should be noted that sections of the trail are definitely technical, extremely challenging and or potentially impossible depending on your mountain biking skill. The upper loops are really fun to mountain bike on.
This was a great trail. I can imagine very busy on the weekend since moderately busy on a Monday late morning.
I have had sentimental reasons for this trail, it goes back to being alone...
Really beautiful park. Easy lower loop. Will return for longer trails.
Great place for some close to town outdoor fun
Love this area! Beautiful area to hike and close to home! Only issue, as is the same everywhere, is the disrespectful people and their trash everywhere! Pack it in, pack it out!
Just a short distance away. No cost. Trails feel private as you go up in elevation. Running creek & lots of trees make the hike perfect on a hot summer day! Dogs allowed as well :)
Moderate level hike. 6 miles. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
A beautiful hike with views of beautiful rock formations. The beginning of the trail is a bit boring but get better after 10 minutes.I loved the way the wind sounded on this hike. We would pause just to listen to the wind rushing through the forest. It reminded me of the movie Pocahontas
Well MaintainedNice FacilitiesGreat Regional Hiking & Biking
Beautiful hiking area with gorgeous trails. There are beginner ones and some more difficult ones. We have seen children, elderly, and young adults here. Great for all ages and fitness level. They have an awesome public restroom thats clean too. It does get really muddy when it rains so watch out for the weather. Dont forget water and sunscreen :)
Wide trail beautiful view.
ÀMAZZZBALLS! Great trails for quick access while getting to see how the other half lives!
Beautiful views, lots of trails to choose from, close to Denver

I love riding my bike on these trails. Theres always a lot of wildlife to see, but watch out for rattlesnakes.
Great trails; people were very friendly, super easy to access and not very crowded.
Great trails! Some with trees and shade. Views are amazing.
I hiked here regularly as its close to where I live. Really nice trails of varying degrees of difficulty.
Great hiking
Trails are well marked and easy to follow. Terrain runs from foothills meadows to scrub oak forests, stream side, evergreens, and distant views.
Awesome trails!
Pretty busy, and not much shade at first. But otherwise very pretty.
Better for Mountain biking not hiking
Nice views
