I have grown up coming to the notch. My father who recently passed away would bring us here when we went infants even and call us notch babies. Its just so beautiful it takes your breathe away. Every season brings New wonders. My favorite place is The Basin.. Seen in these photos. Great places to remember him by.

I hiked Mount Lafayette and Franconia Ridge Trail Loop. It was an absolutely gorgeous hike, and I would definitely recommend it. The trail is not easy. It took me over 5 hours, and Im a pretty avid hiker. It was completely worth it for the views at the top, though. Most folks could probably do this hike, but if youre not used to hiking its going to be tough. I could easily see this trail taking 10 hours if youre not in the best of shape. Theres also a lot of spots where youre scrambling, which means that youll need to use your hands to navigate up inclines that would be difficult to simply hike up. I would encourage anyone doing this hike to bring lots of water. I went through 3 liters, and it wasnt particularly hot out. I would also recommend you dress in layers. I started out in shorts and a t-shirt, but I had to throw on a jack once I reached the summit. Its very windy at the top, and the temperature was at least 20 degrees colder. The fog also comes in and out very quickly. It went from perfectly sunny to less than 20 feet of visibility in minutes. The parking was free, but the lot filled up very quickly. I got there at 7:30 in the morning, and the lot was already half filled up. Luckily, youre above the tree-line for a decent chunk of the hike, so youll find some moments of solitude at the top even though its a very popular trail.

Absolutely Gorgeous Hiking location. There a bunch of trails to pick from. This is a very uphill hike on the blue trail which brings you to the lake at top. Be prepared for slippery climbs every once in awhile. There is a hut at the top that has food until 4pm and bathrooms open 24/7. The blue trail took around 3 hrs up.

Loved Franconia Notch State Park! We couldnt park in the Old Bridle path parking lot so we had to park in the overflow parking at the tramway (currently closed). We hiked the Greenleaf trail up to Eagle cliff and came back down. We got lost twice during our ascent but we were able to find our way pretty quickly by backtracking. Definitely bring a physical map (can be purchased at the gift shop) and a compass as reception is really spotty on the mountain and unhelpful. Hike safe and just come prepared with water and hiking boots. Lots of beautiful fall foliage views to experience.

This park is a true gem of the north! Every season will bring its own different set of colors and the view will change drastically. For hiking there are tons of options available for everyone to partake, from easier hikes with asphalt to mountain hikes that have camping sites, complete with lakes and ponds for fishing. Even just driving thru you should take your time and look around, soak in the views and be happy that youre in such a beautiful area.

You can spend days at this place and find something new all the time. The views are breath taking! The trails are challenging. If you like the outdoors, you need to go to this place. If you like to challenge yourself, you need to go. Download a map before going, because of COVID 19, paper maps cant be handed out.

Flume Gorge is gorgeous.Echo Lake Beach($4 per person or free based on when you are visiting), The Basin, and the Cannon Mountain top are worth visiting if you are in the state park.Artist Bluff and Bald Mountain trail are worth a hike for a view in leaf peeping season. Artists bluff is kids and pet friendly(on leash).Carry snacks if you are visiting during the pandemic as the Cannon Mountain visitor center was closed (on the first weekend of October).

A beautiful area. Great fall colors the last weekend in September. Parking is scarce and hard to find for the main trailheads. There is usually space at the Cannon Aerial Tramway lot. But at the Basin, the Flume, Lafayette Place Campground, Echo Lake Beach, Artists Bluff/Bald Mountain etc, youll want to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to snag a spot. (Some may also have switched to online reservations due to covid). Photos are from Bald Mountain, Artists Bluff (packed with people but a *very* easy hike to some nice views), and Lonesome Lake Hut.

One of my favorite hikes. It must be many peoples favorite hike too because on a warm Saturday in August the cars filled the parking lot early and then started about a half mile down the road on either side. During a pandemic not to many people were wearing masks. I know the hike is outside and for the most part six feet is attainable but there were some parts where one might want others to wear a mask and be a little more considerate. The more socially acceptable these make are and the more people wear them the sooner we can get back to a new normal. Great places to cool off at the end.

We hiked the Lafayette-Lincoln-Little Haystack loop recently, just after Labor day weekend 2020. Tough hike but the views are spectacular. The trails are very well maintained. Well worth the effort! If you are concerned about the Corona virus, this is not a hike for you. The trail was fairly busy and the vast majority of the people didnt wear a mask or made any effort to distance themselves even when passing on very narrow parts of the trail. The lack of empathy for their fellow hikers was puzzling. If you want to avoid the crowds, the Mt Liberty trail may be a safer bet.

Hiked the Franconia Ridge loop trail via the green leaf trail due to overflow parking. It was a difficult hike right out of the gate. Steep and rocky with very little flat areas to rest. Before you start to head to the summit, theres a nice little lodge to stop and take a break for a snack or catch your breath. Keep pushing because when you reach the top of Mt. Lafayette it was worth every bit of the struggle while ascending. The way down is difficult as well via falling waters trail. Your legs are beat and it can be pretty slippery in spots, but its an another amazing part of the hike.

Beautiful Landscapes and lots to do. You can go fishing, hiking, camping, nature photographing. You could take a ride up cannon mountain on the Tram and take in scenic vistas. Visit the site where the Old Man on the Mountain once stood. And thats just a few of the things you can do up in Franconia Notch!Take a hike to see Flume Gorge, an incredible park with beautiful waterfalls and lands changed by glaciers in the Ice Age. We were driving towards Boston from Mt. Washington and wanted to make a stop at some place to relax. We came across this state park and pulled our car over to find such a beautiful scenic location with a calm water body where you can take a dip. The jewel of northern NH, with a scenic drive from a local stay or great lodging in the foothills, Franconia Notch is worth your time. On the way there are plenty of opportunities to pick up gifts of the local flavor, or you can try the outlets in Tilton. Once you arrive there are several trails you could walk along with a guided tour of the flume gorge, but call ahead to see if space is available as the tours are limited. Afterwards there are several local restaurants to try or you could grill up your favorite at one of several campsites. You will enjoy your stay.

Bring warm clothing as the summit temperature can be quite cooler than the valley. The concessions was not worth the money so eat before hand or eat right after. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes in order to hike the short, easy trail to the observation tower, taking in views from outlooks along the way. My kids loved it and it was beautiful. Not to mention historical and lots of memories can be made in these types of places.
