Great place for a hike near town. If you love pioneers parks and wilderness park Id definitely give Nine-Mile Prarie a go.

Great place to walk with nature many paths to choose miles of prairie.

Beautiful acre of prairie lands about 9 miles from the Capitol building of Lincoln, Ne. It is a research plot for the University of Nebraska -Lincoln to study ecology and other environmental-studies. The area is well kept and out near a military training base. I appreciate the signs marking how long it has been since plots have been managed (fire). It’s a nice walk if you are looking for a lot of nature close to home.

I love to take dogs to the prairie. Only problem is we dont go in the tick season.

Not sure of the regular hours the trail gate is kept open, but it was all closed up at 3:30pm Sun. 6/7/2020. Not sure if this is due to covid or other reasons but just a heads up

Beautiful place all year long. Interesting grassland management by UNL with information about treatments and years. The ecological succession of the different plots can be easily observed. Best part... You can bring your pooches. Thy can run around and enjoy freedom while you appreciate the unplowed prairie. Best place in Lincoln to go for a walk.

Hidden gem for a nice walk on the prairie just outside Lincoln!

This is a very nice area to hike. Its very isolated and peaceful. Mostly prairie and full of wildflowers. Many colorful birds are always present. There is a guest sign in book located at the kiosk.

Used daily as a dog park, visit at your own risk. Not much fun being charged by peoples non-leashed K9s.
