Awesome venue. Beautiful, historic, solid acoustics, staff is professional and really friendly. Could have been perfect - if only I was 54 or shorter. The downside of historic is that folks have grown just a wee bit taller in the past 100+ years. No ones fault, but if youre tall and seated in the balcony, prepare for unbelievably tight quarters.

2018 showing of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation was a fantastic experience! Inexpensive tickets and expensive alcoholic beverages were the perfect combination for sharing one of my favorite classic movies with a few close friends and my sister. Of JOY Theater has a classic, elegant look with a familiar ambience. Staff members will add a personal touch by sharing a short story about a holiday memory. Good times.

My first time there. Went with some girlfriends to see Menopause Musical. Smaller than I thought it would be, but adequate. We had a good time. Restrooms were clean and updated. Only negative, it smelled like old smoke. Not real bad, but you could smell it. This is an older place with cloth seats so ....

A beautifully-restored building. Makes for a great night out. Some shows are, obviously, more to my liking than others, but its a great venue within a few blocks of Market Square on Gay Street. A lot of great restaurants and places for cocktails within walking distance. Recommend it.

One of the most important venues in East Tennessee. The history behind this building is extraordinary and I recommend you go check it out. the most important thing is to get some tickets to a show youre really wanting to see because it might be the best evening of entertainment youve ever had.one of the best things about the way the bijou is being run these days is that the kinds of shows you see there are unique. Ive seen so many wonderful shows there then Ill list would boggle the mind. From David Byrne to Ben folds to Andrew Bird to Chris Robinson to the Carolina Chocolate Drops to Dr. Dog etc. And so on...I must place to visit.

I grew up near Knoxville, and moved back a few years ago. I love the historic Bijou, it contains such incredible energy, and it’s amazing to see a variety of well established artists, and new and upcoming artists in a place with so much history. Watching shows or attending events here remind me why I love Knoxville so much.

Love this piece of Knoxville history. I performed in a community theater project here in 2000 and had a blast. We performed Agatha Christies, Ten Little Indians. I attended the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra yesterday, along with my 81 year old Mother, for Peter and the Wolf, which was spectacularly done. What a wonderful concert and the narration was nicely performed. My only reason for 4 stars is that the stairs to the balcony are quite steep and though there is no stopping my mother, it did make for a more difficult time. Still a wonderful landmark and a great venue. Puddles was great here also a couple years ago.

Bijou is a great place to see a performance. I have seen many great musicians there. Tonight was a performance of Dont Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. A musical based on the Mo Willems childrens book. The kids had never been to the Bijou. Lots of remarks on how pretty it is. Always good to look at things through a new set of eyes. I love the Bijou!

A male event staff kept accusing me of taking videos when I was only taking pictures. I have nerve damage in my hands and I have to steady the camera before I take the picture and he got downright nasty with me. Said that no one holds a camera up for 5 minutes without taking a video. I offered to show him that I was only taking pictures but he refused to believe me. I think you need to get better staff. As you can see in one of my pics how bad I shake. Tell you staff if they see a big red dot, that means video. White dot is picture. A girl in front of me recorded for about 30 minutes but every time I tried to take a picture your jerk of a staff member harassed me. He need to be fired if he cant be civil to patrons and picks who he wants to harass and lets the others alone! The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because I enjoyed the music. The rest sucked!

I know a lot of stuff happens here but definitely get your groove on at this place. Definitely try and become a friend of the bijou. The performances here are amazing, I definitely think they should advertise more but Im sure that has something to do with the budget but either way if youve never been to an event here at least try one time this year and let that be your goal or even your 20/20 resolution! You go out there and support local awesomeness. The staff here or beyond next level! Go have an experience, go try something new, go be a friend of the bijou!

The Bijou is one of the jewels in Knoxvilles crown. It is a wonderful place to hear music. One can park in a lot right next to the Bijou or, with a bit of healthy walking, park in State Street garage which has been renovated and is much safer with bright lights among other things needed for a good parking garage. Free after six and on weekends.

The Bijou Theatre was the perfect setting for the Judah and the Lion Storytelling and Acoustic Experience. It made for an intimate setting with the band. The environment and the interaction between the audience and band made for a feeling of more family and friends gathering together rather than a concert with the band and their fans.
