The muse just reopened to the public with a strict mask mandate. Being medically exempt, I requested a refund on our family membership as I knew we would not be able to visit without a mask. The director said I have to provide a doctors note for the medical exemption. That is not a legal requirement, and the director is not a medical professional and has no right to ask for any details into the medical exemption. I was refused entry to the muse and also denied a refund on our annual pass. We got the pass at the end of 2019. The muse has been closed for 8 months. We barely used it before they closed and now are unable to use it. Very frustrating.

An absolute family favorite. I love bringing the kids here, especially when the weather forces us inside. It’s well-maintained and has a pretty good array of activities. Smaller than the Children’s Museum in Oak Ridge, I still found it to be a better time for all, and much cleaner and well-maintained. I’ve been here with friends with kids of different ages and they all seem to find things to get excited about. It’s very hands-on of course, but I LOVE that they have stations to drop things that have been “tasted” so they can be sanitized. The playground outside is awesome, and unlike many playgrounds, accommodates littler kids too. Our favorite part though, is the music garden, where kids can play with sound in a sweet little natural nook. It seems a little pricey at first but it really is worth it. I think next year I’ll buy a membership.

We have been members of the Muse for years now and we love visiting often. We recently had our daughters birthday party and it was perfect! They provide all the decorations, table coverings, paper products, take care of the food, and have add-on stem activities. They set up, break down, and take care of everything. It was extremely affordable for what you get. We may actually host her parties here for a few more years. The staff was wonderful and extremely responsive!

This is an okay little childrens museum. Its the best one we have in Knoxville. But if you compare it to childrens museums in other cities, other childrens museums are larger, have more exhibits, and have more creative exhibits. Theyre also fairly expensive for what you get. We have kids so I would get a pass, but the past doesnt really get you that much and they dont have a place to eat lunch so its not a good place to go for a day with the kids. They have a little snack stand but its all junkie food and nothing substantial enough for a meal. They have a planetarium where they do shows, usually for birthday parties, but the shows arent that great. Theyre really busy on rainy days, which is the days that we might want to go, but then theres hardly enough room for all of the kids in there. Theyre right next to the zoo so there seems to be this dynamic that when the weather is okay people go to the zoo instead. But when the weather is not good, everybody goes to the childrens museum. If youre in the area and looking for childrens museums you might look at the Oak Ridge childrens museum as well. That museum is physically much larger although many of the exhibits are geared towards slightly older kids. The Knoxville museum has at least some things for toddlers and small children. The Oak Ridge museum is really much better for elementary school-aged children or at least preschoolers.

Great place to bring any age kids here I have a 1 year old a three year old and an 8 year old each one of them had something to do absolutely loved it we purchased the zoo and Muse combo package for a membership I would highly advise you to do that you get free admission to the Muse and the zoo plus all kinds of other discounts I give it a 3-star because some of the station they have needs repairs and somebody to help show you what to do the planetarium was amazing and we absolutely loved it cant wait to go back when its warm outside and get to use the outside stuff and thats a half this is very educational fun place to bring your kids as long as you can watch them and not let them run around and act crazy like everybody else says because we had a couple of incidents with some childrens that parents werent watching the parents on the other side of the exhibit with there face shoved in their phone but other than that we will be going back to enjoy the muse and the planetarium

Great place for kids to experience a wide variety of play areas that will bring out their imagination and learning abilities. It was very busy on our visit but kids still had plenty of room to enjoy everything and interact with other children. I do think the $8 fee for adults was a little much since all you do is walk around and supervise your kids, but I assume it’s for the maintenance and such of this wonderful place.

Ill admit its a nightmare getting to The Muse, parking isnt any better. To top it off we went during the STEAM Festival and my oldest is in a wheelchair. The Muse was great and very accessible. Both girls (3 & 10) had a great time and so many cool things to play with. My main issue is though The Muse is accessible the parking isnt. Only stairs allow you to go up from the lot to the level of Muse. Luckily my husband found a hill that he was able to run her up after a few attempts. Would be nice if theyd put some ramps in, lots of room by the pond.

Kids loved it here. There were so many things for the kids to do here. We unfortunately were on a road trip and couldn’t spend the whole day here. We didn’t get to go outside and use the items they had outside. They have a variety of things from paper air planes, puppet show the kids can do. Also a area with different things that use air to move items in different clear tubes that the kids can change the path on which area the balls exit the tubes. They also had an area for them to build LEGO cars and race them down a ramp against other cars. Smaller kids had an area indoors to slide and had mirrors. There is to many things to list.We would definitely go again and give ourselves more time next time.

We are so fortunate to have the BEST childrens Discovery center (not just look at museum). Every space is utilized to pack in such a wide array of activities and pretend play, science demos or things to play and discover! The maker space is a favorite of all ages. We even took adult kids here with the 4-13 year olds during the holidays and everyone was occupied until it closed and we moved outside to okay the instruments and have fun on the playground. A great childrens museum with hands on displays giving a lot of opportunities to learn. It isnt a huge place but they make great year of the space. Staff was really friendly. The planetarium had a great and informative movie on the sun and we all learned something.

Fun little center that has a multitude of activities for 6 and below. There are many different stations that help a child to explore their interests; space exploration, mechanics, imaginary play, arts and crafts etc.It is low cost and during my time there I did see employees wiping down and sanitizing the toys and stations which is a huge bonus!I would suggest a few things to the owners for future development. One I think it would be nice to have a dedicated sidewalk that leads to the parking area; walking through traffic is scary with a child. Two, I would like to see automatic doors since trying to get a stroller through two sets of heavy push/pull doors is difficult. And finally, the planetarium show was good up until one of the stars (a cartoon character) refers to himself as big daddy. I dont think this an appropriate reference during an educational planetarium show.

The museum is relatively small. There is an excellent crafts area and a STEM portion that is pretty good. I suppose you can spend as much time as you want there but, we only spent about 3 hours. I don’t know if I’d recommend it for kids older than 10. There are a lot of toys but not a lot of information on how things work either. There aren’t many staff assisting or explaining things either. It’s ok to spend a rainy day I suppose.

I’m not a rude person, but my baby was impatient and my 5 year old was jumping up and down from excitement. I stood there and half listened to her...next thing I know she is charging for MY entry. I said “Why would you charge for me?” She said “So you can play”. “Why would I play?” I asked. “Because it’s fun to play” she said. They won’t let you in without paying for adult admission. I said “Nope! Not doing that. That’s ridiculous”. This place will not stay in business if they keep charging parents to watch their kids play.

One of my schools field trips was going here, and let me tell you, I was disappointed. First of all, I am not blaming The Muse themselves, but I feel I should address this. Our school never told us that this place was for TODDLERS. We were 8TH GRADERS. So, as you may expect, we were not happy campers that day (haha). We were all fooled into thinking that this place was fun for ALL ages! Dont get me wrong, this place is great, but only for toddlers! I wish you guys would have things that are ALL fun for ALL ages because, honestly, it was REALLY uncomfortable to be 13 and 14 year olds hanging around 2-5 year olds. One last thing, make sure nothing is GOING ON in your bathrooms. You dont wanna know...

This is an interactive museum/activity place for toddlers and up. The activity stations are constantly updated. I was very sad to see the big blue foam blocks go, but there is a large crafting area that has taken its place. there is one area where an animated projection is seen on the floor. the object is to step on whatever the bad and evil thing is and miss the bombs and good things. Children as young as two and three love this. It also attracts some older children. I was able to put up a high score one day. The staff is always very friendly and willing to answer questions about the variety of issues. There are schedule times that they read to the youngsters and do puppet shows. there is also an outside area that is well fenced that young children can play in if they tire of the inside. If you havent been and have young children you should take them. If you have taken you young children here I doubt that you have read this far.

I went with with my youngest daughter and youngest granddaughter about opening time, a perfect time to go. The outdoor playground was in the shade with some great activities (adult words for fun; climbing, slides, musical objects, and things to do!) Then inside - oh what fun! There was a spaceship, a farmers market, a health clinic, art center, reading corner, flip-flop tube music, harp strings, a zip-tie fountain to run through, dress-up area, and that was a small sample of what to do there! There was a story time, search for zoo toys in beans, a snack area, and a gift shop. Ok, I am an old little boy and had as much fun as my granddaughter! Oh- definitely take time for music garden outside. We missed even more outdoor activities because we tired out too easily! We would go again and recommend it to families with three to nine year olds whirlwinds. You go and you decide. The Knoxville Zoo is next door if you so desire.
