Ketchikan Alaska is a beautiful fishing village along the inside “passage-way” of Southeastern Alaska. Only accessible by boat/ship or jet/seaplane. We stopped in Ketchikan as one of our dock stops on a recent Alaskan Cruise via Norwegian Cruises Ship Pearl. My wife and I spent a few hours shopping, sightseeing and dining in the downtown commercial area near the ships. There is a lot to keep you visited. Time constraints limited us from doing any air or sea excursions. If and when I go back to Alaska — I would skip the luxury cruise ship part of the journey — fly directly into Ketchikan via Alaska Airlines (or other similar carriers) — book a week or more in a local lodge — and spend each day exploring the region on daily excursions via boat or air — using Ketchikan as our base camp.Highly recommend this place for your Alaska experience.
